The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to be on hand when T.J.Maxx debuted their new Maxx Life campaign in New York City. Aimed at helping women find those perfect pieces that allow their personal style shine through during the everyday, T.J.Maxx had costume designer Jenn Rogien and actress Erika Christensen on hand to talk about how they use style to tell their story.

Now full disclosure: I’m a massive Parenthood fan. Don’t even get me started on this being the last season–I can’t deal. So as you might imagine, I was not passing up the opportunity to chat up Erika. Turns out she’s not only a wildly talented actress, she’s kind of a fitness buff on the low, too. Here’s what I found out about her:

SHEfinds: Have you always been into fitness?

Erika Christensen: I grew up dancing, and ran 5Ks and 10Ks as a kid. As an adult, though lifting weights has always been fun, I didn’t really find my passion for fitness until I took up cycling about four years ago.

SF: What’s your all-time favorite exercise class?

EC: I’d have to say spin class–it’s the next best thing to riding outside! And a dance class is still fun if I make it there.

SF: What’s your go-to at-home workout?

EC: All body-weight stuff is great for home, of course. Lots of push-ups and squats and plank! And I have a kettlebell which is a killer workout, just doing kettlebell swings.

SF: Is there any class or workout you absolutely hate?

EC: In not so distant times I would’ve told you I hate running, but I finally get it! Running is definitely not riding, and I couldn’t do it for such an extended period, but a 45-minute run now is something I can find pleasure in. That’s pretty huge for me.

SF: Take us through a typical day in your life?

EC: I usually get up pretty early and work out–it helps give me energy for the day ahead. Between working out or riding, filming, errands and sneaking in some fun time with my boyfriend and friends, I always change outfits once or twice a day. That’s why I love to shop at T.J.Maxx, I can always find those perfect pieces that express what’s important to me. Whether it’s awesome workout clothes or a versatile designer leather jacket for a night out–there’s something for every facet of my day.
