Sure, the bridal shower is loads of fun for the bride. After all, she gets to go home with a truckload of presents. But for the guests, attending one of these can be a bit on the boring side–unless you really enjoy watching other people open their gifts. But the bridal party can make the shower a more entertaining affair with these fun ideas (and no, designing a toilet paper wedding dress is not one of them).

Cards about Matrimony. “My friend Emilee loves Cards against Humanity, so I created a personalized spin on the game (appropriate for a room full of aunts and grandmothers) for her shower that I called Cards about Matrimony,” says Meredith Amoroso of Pittsburgh, PA. “I made each question and answer relate to her and her fiancé. The shower guests broke off into teams and we played for 30 minutes. The team with the most cards at the end of the game won a small prize for each member. It was an absolute blast!”

Do you know the groom? The pros at The House of Bachelorette recommend printing out this free Groom Quiz and having him fill it out before the party. Then, at the party, ask the bride the same questions and see if she can guess his answers! Everyone will enjoy seeing just how well she knows the groom.

The Pre-Newlywed Game. Along the same lines, you can come up with a list of questions for the groom about the couple’s relationship. When guests come in to the shower, ask them to guess how many of the bride’s answers will match her groom’s. While she’s opening her gifts, the MOH can ask each question–and the person with the guess that matches the closest number of correct answers without going over wins a prize.

How Well Do You Know the Bride? This quiz, also from The House of Bachelorette makes the bride the center of attention in this game. She’ll answer questions about herself, while the rest of the party keeps score to see if they could guess her answers!

Purse Scavenger Hunt. Before the shower, create a list of everyday items a woman would have in her purse, like lip gloss, keys, cash, etc. You can also throw in some not-so-everyday things, such as condoms, diapers, and more.

Celebrity Couples. What couple met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith? What couple named their oldest son Kingston? Which reality star was famously married for just 72 days? You get the idea… People love celebrity gossip and this is a great way to test everyone’s knowledge.

Wedding Movie Charades. There are so many great wedding-themed movies: Father of the Bride, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Princess Bride, My Best Friend’s Wedding. As each gift is opened, the guest that brought it gets to act out a movie title. The first person who guesses (or gets the most total guesses) wins a small prize.
