Being in a relationship is hard work. You have two personalities, two different minds and two different opinions. There’s no doubt there will be disagreements, it’s only natural. However, there are specific things that every couple should agree on. Things that will effect both of your futures. Relationships aren’t a one-way street, so it’s important to make sure you and your partner are on the same page regarding certain topics. Read on to find out the things you really should agree on if you plan on staying together for the long haul.

Do you want children? How many? This is a huge decision for any relationship. If you’re someone who wants kids and your partner doesn’t, then it’s something you should consider. You most definitely cannot force someone into wanting a child, and if you do, it might not be the most positive outcome if said person isn’t ready. Also, how many children do you want? Some people say one is their limit and others want two, three and so on. Having children not only affects your personal life, but also your finances so it’s important to keep your money situation in mind when discussing this topic as well.

Where do you want to live? I mean, you can do long distance if you’re into that, but realistically if you aren’t on the same page as to where you want to live, then I’m not sure how it will pan out. You and your partner should be in agreement on what part of the country (or world) you want to settle down in.

How are you splitting up the holidays? Figuring out where to spend your holiday time can be stressful. Are you going to spend major holidays separately with your respective families, or travel throughout the day from house to house? This is important to discuss beforehand so you know what the plan of attack will be.

What are you willing to spend money on? Some couples live for exotic vacations, some rather do repairs on the house/apartment and others like going having a special date night every week. Deciding what you and your partner want to spend your money on will help when planning your budget.
