The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Braids are, in my humble opinion, the greatest hairstyle a girl has at her disposal. They work for just about every occasion imaginable, from your toughest gym class to your fanciest dinner party. More often than not though, braid beginners shy away from the best styles because they seem too difficult to master at first glance. Well, I’m here to tell you that braids are easier than you think, and with a little practice, you’ll be a total master a la Chris Pratt.

One of my favorite styles is the waterfall braid. It’s basically the classic French braid’s boho chic sister, and it looks just as amazing on its own as it does with an elaborate ponytail. The best part? This particular braid needs very little styling attention or prep work beforehand. In fact, it’s even easier to do on second-, or even third-, day hair! It only has 4 simple steps:

1) Start with a normal three-strand braid.

2) Drop the bottom strand once it’s securely braided.

3) Pull more hair into the top strand, French-braid style.

4) Bring in a new strand to replace the one you dropped.

It’s easier to get the hang of it if you watch the video below. I’ll walk you through the whole process on our Editorial Assistant/fantastic hair model, Sara:
