7 Reasons Why Mermaids Are The New Vampires

Have you guys noticed that vampires are dead? Well, I know they are technically “undead,” but I mean in the sense that the whole pop culture phenomenon is over. The final Twilight movie came out almost two years ago, True Blood (yes, it’s still on) is in its last episodes and The Vampire Diaries had an off season. It’s safe to say that these pale, blood sucking beings are officially dunzo. So what new mythical creature are we supposed to be obsessing over? That would be mermaids.
Unlike vampires who are after us for our bodies, mermaids are more relatable. Sort of. They are part human, except for the fact that they can breathe underwater, but at least that’s better than having to drink blood to survive, am I right? Between the announcement of Sofia Coppola‘s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid and all the ‘maid-inspired fashion and beauty out there, we’re officially declaring vampires OUT and mermaids IN.
