A Body Scrub That Really Works

What: Nettie Scrub, $8.99

Why: You know that feeling you get when you have an invigorating body scrub in a spa? Sure, the scrubbing part is a little rough, but your skin couldn't be any softer when it's over. Well, I've always felt frustrated that I couldn't find something for use at home that worked quite as well as the stuff the pros have.

That all changed when I scooped up some Nettie Scrub and went to work. This all-natural body polish created by L.A. manicurist Nettie Davis combines sugar with natural oils to produce a rough n' tough exfoliate that lays waste to dead skin cells but leaves well-moisturized skin in its wake. Not possible, you say? I disagree. Although this stuff is strong enough to smooth areas like the feet, the vitamin-rich grape seed oil works to protect and repair damaged skin.

I tried the heavenly scented lemon–a perfect pick-me-up at the beginning of the day–but Nettie also produces her scrubs in grapefruit, peppermint, and a relaxing lavender. The mini-combo packs would make a dream Christmas present for an eco-aware beauty buff looking for the perfect treatment that doesn't sacrifice performance to be considered "green." Even the packaging, an adorable glass jar that looks far more expensive than it really is, looks ready for wrapping.

I know I'll be keeping this scrub on hand to smooth my skin before I don a strapless holiday dress. Although the spa treatments were nice, I'm totally relieved to be able to accomplish the same task at home for a fraction of the cost.
