Silk shawls always look exquisite, whether thrown around your shoulders or given as gifts. But the shawls from Juliaz Designs not only look impressive, they also help perform a much needed service. Owner Julia Desmond imports hand woven shawls from across Asia. Moved by the plight of those affected by the Southeast Asian tsunami, she now donates 10 percent of the sales to various non-profit organizations there. The one-of-a-kind shawls are available in three collections (Mekong, Saigon and Thai) and feature a rainbow of colors such as plum, rose, tangerine, gold, orange and fuchsia. I wore my fuschia and gold shawl as a belt with a basic black outfit. As nice as it looked (if I do say so myself), I think it looks just as great as the backdrop in my living room curio. I’m sure you’ll find an equally stunning way to use your shawl. Find it at juliazdesigns.com.
