Hey Millennials, You’re Not The First Ones To Use The Word ‘Lit’

It's contagious, it's everywhere... it's lit. Huh? College kids came home for summer and brought the term with them. "Lit" basically means awesome, cool or really fun. You would definitely hear the term at basically every frat party (#tbt), or maybe at the club on a Saturday night. And according to my 18-year-old sibling, you could even get more sophisticated and use "lituation," aka a "lit situation" (clever, I know). We've seen a lot of things come back in style this year (hint: choker necklaces), and we can actually add lit to the list. Yep, you read that right - some of our older relatives said that they actually used the term back in the 70s and 80s! (Insert: college kids freaking out.) Some say that the origin of the word comes from being "faded out" or drunk, but now it's used to describe any fun situation. Regardless, lit has definitely made a comeback. We're not sure how long until lit will officially join selfie in the dictionary, but we don't think it's going anywhere for now. Anyone who knows me knows this one fact: I love Mara Hoffman. Those colorful prints are my jam and as such, I look forward to the brand's NYC sample sales like most kids look forward to Christmas. I'll admit, I was a little bummed when I got the email announcing this year's sample sale was online-only; I'm shockingly one of those people who really get off on digging through bins and bins of swimsuits with tons of other ladies all in search of a good deal. But alas, a Mara Hoffman sale is still a Mara Hoffman sale, so here we are. This year's online sample sale kicks off at 10am EST, which means the clock is ticking for you to get to a computer so you can shop. When I tell you this sale is cult, I sincerely mean it. Once And For All, This Is The Exact SPF You Should Be Wearing On Your Face

I love being tan, plain and simple. I wait 9 months during the year just to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, and watch myself get that glow that, let's be honest ladies, we all crave. But the sun comes with the danger of skin cancer... How can we achieve our optimal tans without damaging our skin? We found out exactly what SPF you should really be wearing on your face in order to enjoy the sunshine, but also protect your skin! First, do we all actually know what SPF means? Just as a reminder: SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. Dermatologists from the American Academy of Dermatology recommend that we wear sunscreen of SPF 15 all year long, and use water-resistant sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher during prolonged sun exposure. Technically this means that it would take 30 times longer to burn while wearing SPF 30, rather than not wearing any sunscreen. The AAD concludes that SPF 30 sunscreen blocks 97% of the sun's rays, and using a crazy high SPF block (like 90+) doesn't actually make a difference. They also say that creams and sunscreen sticks are great to use on your face! So, find some SPF 30 block, make sure to re-apply every 2 hours, and you're good to go! Definitely check out this sunscreen stick by Fresh, it's super easy to apply again and again and again: Sugar Sport Treatment Sunscreen SPF 30 ($25) Check out the AAD for some more tips and tricks about how to stay safe from the sun this season. How To Curl Your Hair In Half The Time

I love beach waves and perfect ringlets as much as the next gal, but there's no denying that actually getting them takes an INSANE amount of time. But what if I told you that there's a trick to creating quick curls on the fly that will make you think, "I can't believe I didn't think of that?" The quick fix: pulling your hair into a pony before taking a curling iron to it. Start by brushing your hair and putting it into a high pony. (A height of just above your ears should do the trick.) Be sure to apply heat protectant throughout your ponytail - no damaged ends here! For a budget-friendly heat protectant option, try Aussie Hair Insurance Heat Protecting Shine Spray ($2.99). Take a curling iron and wrap small sections from your pony around the barrel. For maximum speed, a curling wand without a clip works best here - we love the Conair You Big Waves ($34.99), which has a slanted shape that allows you to get a wide range of curl sizes. Once you've finished and have let your hair cool, take your hair down - it's that easy! No more need to stress - finally, fab curls can easily be attained in a flash. Kylie Jenner Is Opening A Store For Her Lip Kits

Kylie Jenner world domination is far from over. In fact, the teen (yes, she's still just 18 years old) seems to just be getting starts--she's apparently looking at spaces for a Kylie Cosmetics store. Jenner sent two Snapchats yesterday from potential brick-and-mortar locations. Kris Jenner was there because, momager and so was her bestie Harry Hudson, who makes frequent appearances on her Snap. "Looking for Kylie Cosmetics stores right now" she says in the first one: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHAzA-dsw2U/ "Makeup store is about to be lit!" she exclaims in the second snap. https://www.instagram.com/p/BHAzBtDMw2Z/ Kylie's store will definitely be "lit." I can already see her fans lining up for the latest Lip Kit release. But a whole store dedicated to lipstick seems a bit extreme... could this mean more products are coming our way? Eyeliner? Contouring kits? Only time will tell! Don't forget to check out: [Photo: Splash News]

Meet Jeanine, VEEP (Vice President, That Is) At SHEfinds

Of all the women in the SHEfinds office, I'm probably the most insane, obsessive shopper. I've loved shopping for as long as I can remember. My mom and I use to make epic 6-hour mall trips while my dad and brother waited in the car. Some of my fondest childhood memories are coming home after one of those trips, dumping my shopping bags on my bed and trying everything on with items I already owned to put together perfect outfits. Actually, I still do that to this day. Besides shopping, I also love my 7-year-old daughter. I always knew I wanted to be a mom and once upon a time I thought I'd have six children. Then I had one and got that first NYC private school tuition bill and was like, Nope. I'm good.  I was a single mom for a few years, but rekindled things with my college sweetheart (long story, for a different time!) in 2011 and we've been together ever since. As a family we love to travel, go to the movies and eat ourselves silly. My boyfriend is actually vegan and I'm not, so that's an adventure! On the profesh side, I decided at the end of my junior year of college that I wanted to be a writer after taking an internship at The Knot. Since then I've worked at Essence, In Style and now SHEfinds. A few more fun facts about me: Guilty pleasure? Anything sweet. Donuts, cookies, ice cream, s'mores... I can't resist. The One Thing You Should Never Do When Wearing Contacts

Anyone who's gotten a pair of contact lenses for the first time after years of wearing glasses knows that a lifesaver they can be. (No more smudgy lenses! No need to change your appearance in order to see!) However, unlike with glasses, wearing contacts requires a little extra TLC when it comes to making sure your eyes are staying healthy. You probably know by now that it's super important to keep them clean and to change the solution in your case every night - but what's the one thing you should absolutely never do when wearing contacts? Before jumping in the shower or taking a dip in the pool this summer, always make sure to take a few seconds to pop your lenses out of your eyes - you should never be showering, swimming or bathing with them in. Water, especially in hot tubs, is a breeding ground for bacteria that can eventually end up trapped behind your contact - not good. We know, we know, it's a hassle - but removing your contacts before swimming or bathing will save you tons of trouble down the road. If you accidentally do get them wet? Just make sure to clean them like crazy ASAP. The One Thing You Should Never Do To Your Jeans

So you might not like what we've got to say, but sometimes the truth hurts. You shouldn't be washing your jeans. Excuse me? You heard us, it's actually bad for your jeans to be washed in the machine. CEO of Levi's Chip Bergh explained in his interview with Fortune Magazine that he spot cleans his jeans. Turns out, soap and water from a machine wash wears away at the indigo coloring of your favorite denim. If you don't machine wash, the creases and folds that come naturally from wearing your jeans will appear with different shades and contrast, giving the desired worn-in look. Not to mention, regularly washing your jeans is a HUGE consumption of water. No one likes to wear dirty clothes (ew), but we love our jeans - so what do we do? If you don't feel like hand scrubbing, here are some other ways to clean your jeans without machine help. Vinegar Bath. Soak your jeans in a cold-water bath with one cup of white vinegar. Soap and water wear away at the coloring of your denim, but vinegar locks in the color. Hang them up to dry and enjoy your clean jeans! Steam. Hang up your pair while you enjoy a hot, steamy shower. The steam will leave your jeans fresh and clean. Fresh Air. Hang your jeans outside to give them some fresh air - just make sure they're not in direct sunlight. Freeze 'em. That's right, stick your jeans in the freezer for a few hours. This method eliminates bacteria and odors. Hopefully, these tips will make sure your favorite pair stay clean and fresh - without wasting time (and water) by the machine! 5 At-Home Remedies To Treat Razor Burn

Baring it all during bikini season often means breaking out the razor a little more frequently - and while we love the look of smooth legs and a perfectly groomed bikini line, we usually don't make it through a summer without encountering painful razor burn at least once. Normally, we'd just deal with the redness and bumps, but it turns out there's plenty of ridiculously easy home remedies that keep razor burn at bay, meaning your summer just got a little more struggle-free. 1. Aloe vera Aloe vera is famously good at soothing a sunburn, and it's equally amazing when it comes to razor burn too. Try applying an aloe vera gel like Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel ($5.99) to your problem areas for relief. 2. Honey and apple cider vinegar Let's just say what we were all thinking: apple cider vinegar is basically a beauty miracle product - and it's not just a great rinse for your hair. First, apply honey to the razor burn, and leave it on for five minutes. Rinse it with cold water and dry your skin. Next, rinse the area with apple cider vinegar and let it air dry, making for an easy two steps to being razor burn-free. 3. Black tea If you're a tea drinker and happen to have any extra black tea bags around, this one's for you - black tea reduces inflammation. Dip as many as you need to cover the affected area in warm (not hot!) water, and place them on the burn until it subsides. 4. Baking soda Because baking soda is such an amazing exfoliant, it's great for getting rid of those little red shaving bumps. Create a solution of 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a cup of water, and soak a cotton ball in it. Use the cotton ball to apply the mixture to any razor burned areas for five minutes and then rinse. 5. Coconut oil Repeat after me, "When in doubt, coconut oil." There are few things this magic beauty ingredient can't solve. Getting rid of razor burn is as easy as applying a small amount to the shaven area post-shave. Easy enough! How To Check Your Moles Before Going To A Dermatologist

Moles. We've all got them, and we've got to be careful. Sometimes, it's just annoying to wait for a dermatologist appointment to check if your moles are dangerous or not. We dug up some at-home tips to help you determine if your mole is cause for concern. Here are five red flags to look out for: The ABCDE's of Moles: If you notice any one of these distinctions, you should head over to your dermatologist for an official opinion. Asymmetry: If one half of your mole does not match its other half Border: If the border or edges of the mole are jagged or blurred Color: If your mole is a color that is much different than the average medium-to-dark brown shade Diameter: If the diameter of the mole is larger than that of a pencil Evolving: If your mole looks different from others, and is possibly changing color, shape or size How should you most efficiently check for moles? Take off all of your clothes, and check your entire body - don't forget your back and those hidden areas like in-between your fingers and toes. You will probably need a (very close) friend to help you with this job! Also, be sure to continually photograph your skin to be certain of any changes. Read more here to learn more about checking your moles at-home. Share Care recommends seeing a dermatologist once a year for a skin exam, regardless of whether you have moles or not. The One Thing You Should Always Do Before Straightening You Hair

When my 13-year-old self got her hands on a flat iron for the first time, she knew we would have a long relationship. My life changed - I went from having 100% poofy hair to sleek, shiny and straight hair. I remember sitting in my mom's bathroom, having her go through my curly locks, section by section, until my hair was ready for the birthday party I had that day. Since then, I've become a pro at flat ironing. I've perfected how to section my hair off, apply the right products and even curl my ends. BUT - there is still one HUGE mistake that many women make when using a flat iron, and I do too (guilty). Your hair needs to be completely dry before you begin with an iron. Hearing that sizzle is your biggest enemy! Ironing even partially-wet hair can cause damage, possibly creating even more dead ends and burnt hair (no!) You shouldn't put hair products in either, unless they are specifically meant for heat protection. Running the iron over anything else just burns the product into your follicle. We recommend the It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner ($18.99) It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner ($18.99) So next time you want to hit-up the flat iron, make sure your hair is bone-dry, because honestly, no one needs any more split ends! Katy Perry Vs. Taylor Swift: Where Did It All Go Wrong?

Uh oh. Things are really starting to heat up between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Before I take you through a speedy version of Katy and Taylor's history, it's important to mention that Katy Perry recently registered a song called "1984" to BMI, a major music publisher. So, what's the big deal? Some are speculating that this could be Perry's comeback to Swift's "Bad Blood" as the song is curiously similar to Taylor's album titled 1989. It's been no secret that the two singers are in the middle of a so-called battle. Taylor doesn't deny that her most recent song is about Katy. The "Bad Blood" singer told Rolling Stone another female pop-star. "It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," she said. Back to the battle. Here's a timeline of Katy and Taylor's history. See where it all went sour. 2008: The start of their friendship happened at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, where they posed for pictures together. Oh, the good ole days. 2009: The two met up again at the Grammys. Katy revealed she asked Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift (they shared a dressing room) for locks of their hair. She recalled, "I put little bows on them individually and put them in my purse. And that was my little secret and I'm a freak!" 2010: Katy joined Taylor on stage at her Los Angeles concert. The duo performed "Hot N Cold" together. Watch it below! 2011: Taylor won an award at the AMA's and Katy congratulated her with a cute cuddle sesh. 2012: Katy begins dating Taylor's ex John Mayer. Their relationship would span over the next two years. 2013: Katy attended the Grammys with Mayer and ran into Taylor. The two had a slightly awkward encounter, which makes us think this remark by Taylor could be aimed at Katy. "For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" 2014: Katy sends out a cryptic tweet right after the release of Taylor's Rolling Stone cover story. https://twitter.com/katyperry/status/509247190280065025 2015: In response to the feud, Katy told Billboard before her Super Bowl performance, "If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it." Taylor releases the song "Bad Blood" and recruits all her famous BFF's like Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba, Lena Dunham and more to be in the video. Katy definitely made the next move in legalizing the song "1984" so we will have to stay tuned to see how it all plays out. For the record, I'm Team Katy. 2016: One year later, we all know the lyrics to "Bad Blood," but here's a refresher because it's important. "Cause baby now we got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love, so take a look what you’ve done, ‘cause baby now we got bad blood." Guess what? Katy Perry just released a fragrance called "Mad Love." As E! News points out, "Mad Potion" was Katy's first fragrance so this is simply a follow-up in the "Mad" collection, but the choice does seem pretty sus. The Katy-Taylor saga continues. 7 Ways To Make Anything From Forever 21 Look Really, Really Expensive

When you're a babe on a budget trying to build a killer wardrobe, resorting to fast fashion stores like Forever 21 becomes entirely necessary. It's an easy way to wear the same trends we've seen on the runways for less. The only problem? As they say, you get what you pay for - and sometimes, it can be hard to make the $20 dress look on par with the $200 one. But fear not - use these tips and tricks when shopping at and wearing Forever 21 and nobody will be able to spot the difference. 1. Befriend your tailor Even the cheapest of dresses from Forever 21 can look hundreds of dollars more expensive simply by taking them to the tailor. Oftentimes, the reason Forever 21 ends up actually looking like Forever 21 is simply because a piece is ill-fitting. Having a piece tailored to your unique shape will work wonders. 2. Pair with expensive accessories When you wear expensive accessories, like a really killer bag or shoe with F21 finds, it automatically upgrades the look. Plus, it's much more economical to buy a pair of shoes or a bag that you can wear several days of the week, paired with cheaper clothing that you'll only wear once every week or two weeks. 3. Buy it in black Not only is black insanely flattering, but the color somehow always manages to make anything and everything look more luxe. If you're at Forever 21 and have the choice between another color and black, always choose the latter. 4. Swap out buttons Sometimes, it's the little details that matter most, and a Forever 21 blazer can instantly look more expensive if you simply swap the buttons. Check fabric stores or online for higher quality buttons than the plastic ones that come on F21 pieces. No need to sew them yourself - most dry cleaners will do it for cheap. 5. Be on the lookout for 'Love 21' Forever 21's contemporary section, called Love 21, is aimed at an older age group than the rest of the store's clothes, and the pieces usually end up looking a little more upscale. Most Forever 21 sections have specific Love 21 sections, but you can also shop the collection online. 6. Invest in a steamer The easiest fix for any Forever 21, or fast fashion piece in general, is to steam it. Weird wrinkles and bulges in fabric are what make Forever 21 look cheap in the first place - you'd be surprised what a difference 30 seconds with a steamer can make. 7. Avoid faux suede When hitting up F21 just say neaux (ha, see what we did there) to faux suede. While textiles like leather or wool are easy to fake, it's pretty impossible to recreate suede (in a way that doesn't look cheap) at a Forever 21-friendly price. Invest in the real thing, or a better replica from a slightly pricier brand. You'll be glad you did - trust us. This Crazy Cheap One-Piece Looks Good On Literally Every Body

We can all pretty much agree that bathing suit shopping is the actual worst. A good swimsuit is a rare find, and most of the time, we end up walking out of the dressing room empty-handed and feeling defeated by swimsuits that are made to flatter only one body type. Things get even worse when we try online, that is, until now. This one-piece from Amazon is about to be a swimsuit shopping game-changer. Not only is it under $40, but it comes in 10 different colors. This isn't that dreaded grandma-esque one piece either--we're talking sheer, sexy crochet here. The best part: it's universally flattering (yes, every body type), and has a four-star average rating from a total of 486 happy women to prove it. Just look at the photo evidence below: Whether you're curvy, straight-figured, petite, tall, or somewhere in between, chances are this swimsuit will look killer on you. So what are you waiting for? This Is The Single Best Eyeliner For Women Who Can’t Draw A Straight Line

I have what you'd call a shaky hand. It's a trait I never noticed until I began trying--and failing miserably--to perfect cat eye eyeliner. Judging by the latest runway and editorial trends, winged eyeliner and its close cousin, the sleek, thin line drawn on right above the upper lashes, or what I like to call "impossible eye," show no signs of quitting. Here's what that means for me and anyone else who shares my inability to master eyeliner: lots and lots of tissues, makeup remover, and cries of, "I almost got the line straight this time! Oh well, maybe tomorrow!" Luckily, it doesn't have to be so difficult. While your ordinary kohl eyeliner pencil is not going to do an unsteady hand any favors, makeup brands are starting to get hip to the fact that some of us need more technological guidance in order to achieve eyeliner greatness. Ladies, I'm thrilled to announce that I've found the number one best eyeliner for people with zero skills: Ciaté's Double Lines. Double Lines is actually a dual purpose stick. One side features a precision tip eyeliner that is so beautifully thin even hooded eyes like mine are spared a centimeter of eye-opening lid after attempting a wing. The other side gives you a super-dark black kohl Kajal liner that is meant to be used on the waterline.  I always start off my eye makeup routine applying a primer from Urban Decay (a must for hooded eyes to keep color from sliding into creases where it does not belong). Unlike some other precision liners I've tried, this one doesn't require a heavy hand--the lightest touch provides a flick of dark color. A precision tip means you have greater control over where color is placed and how thick or thin you want your line. As for the kohl pencil, it's soft and highly pigmented, which means you won't have to irritate your waterline with numerous applications (don't you hate that)? It's also thick enough to serve as a great base eyeliner for your top lid, one that you can smudge so you look like Jennifer Lawrence killing it at every award show ever. At the moment, Double Lines is only available in the darkest black on planet Earth. Please make these in green and rose-gold, Ciaté, so that all of my eyeliner dreams can finally come true. The One Thing You Should Never Do Before Going To Sleep

We know, we know, it's so tempting to lay in bed and stare at your phone. You just need to catch up on your Instagram feed and must check any new Snapchat stories... But, you could be harming yourself more than you know! According to Business Insider, research shows that looking at a blue-and-white light can harm your sleep, and also your level of alertness the next day. The light emitted from smartphones, tablets, e-readers and our other favorite electronics impact the amount of melatonin our brain releases when we go to sleep. Losing sleep is the last thing we want--we need our beauty rest! VIDEO: Selena Gomez Does Carpool Karaoke On A Roller Coaster

Selena Gomez has the most fun doing Carpool Karaoke. She's the latest star to join James Corden in his musical mobile and the two go on some crazy adventures. First, after belting out "Same Old Love" (which is made for singing in cars, FYI), Selena tricks James into singing "Come and Get It" on a ROLLER COASTER. While Selena does not miss a note, James spends most of the song screaming at the top of his lungs. Because James hasn't suffered enough, he participates in Selena's morning ritual of taking a ginger shot. Let's just say he's not a fan.  To get rid of the taste, they stop at McDonald's and the employees lose their minds over Selena. James jokingly wonders why he's not getting the same reaction. "What else could she be doing at 12:37 in the morning?" he asks. We never want this ride to end. James asks Selena about her membership in Taylor Swift's squad, why it's sexist (no guys are in it) and if he can join. "Find me a boyfriend and then we'll talk about it," she replies. Of course, this comment turns the conversation to Selena's love life. James asks, "Are you on the lookout for a boyfriend right now?" "Well, I don't know, I like to have fun," Selena answers."Oh, so you're saying you want to get a guy in every port?" "No, not every..." and now we (kinda) know Sel's relationship status! The whole shebang wraps up with a rendition of "Shake It Off," and we pretty much have Carpool Karaoke perfection, folks. How To Wear Cheap Earrings Without Irritating Your Ear Holes

Now that tiny stud earrings are so trendy, more and more women are buying cheap pairs at places like Forever 21 and wearing them everyday. There's nothing wrong with this--I mean, just because they're cheap doesn't mean they're not incredibly cool! And this way you don't have to invest in a pricey pair, only to be *over* the trend in a few months or years. The only problem is the irritation they can cause--especially for women with sensitive skin. In fact, some women can't even wear 14K gold or yellow gold. If earrings *of any kind* make your ear holes red and itchy--you've got to try these super simple tricks for making them wearable now: How to make cheap earrings wearable for sensitive skin Paint 2 layers of clear nail polish on the posts. I have to admit I was wary of this tip when I first read it--wouldn't nail polish also be irritating? It turns out, it isn't and this is the most effective trick for making cheap earrings less irritating. In fact, they sell a product called "Jewelry Shield" on Amazon that is basically just a bottle of clear nail polish. The trick is to apply two coats, wait for it to completely dry and reapply it every couple of weeks (because it wears off). You can also use it on other types of jewelry to make them less irritating (bracelets, necklaces, etc.). READ MORE: How To Fix Fake Jewelry: Green Rings, Tarnish, Discoloration, More Smear Vaseline or Neosporin on them before wearing. If you're too freaked out by the nail polish trick (or just don't own any), use petroleum jelly or even Neosporin to create a protective barrier between the metal and your skin. Plus, the Neosporin is a proactive way of dealing with the allergic reaction. READ MORE: How To Get The Green From Fake Jewelry Off Your Skin Don't wear them constantly. Take a break from cheap jewelry--even if you've applied the clear polish or Vaseline. Let your earring holes breath by going earring-free at least half the time. Buy nickel-free jewelry. Nickel seems to be the culprit of the irritated ears--earrings of any kind (cheap or expensive) can contain nickel and that's what many women are allergic to. If the clear polish and Vaseline tricks don't work for you--consider switching to only nickel-free jewelry as a more permanent solutions. Be advised that if you buy earrings that are coated in a material that's nickel-free, but the coating wears off you might still be exposed. READ MORE: How To Fix A Broken Zipper Good luck! Definitely Watch This Woman Apply Foundation With A Sock (Yes, Really)

File this one under weird but shockingly good beauty hacks. Beauty vlogger Mayra Touch of Glam used socks, yes, the things that go on your feet, as a makeshift tool for applying foundation. While you might think this is kind of ridiculous at first, watching her tutorial will completely change your mind. One day while digging through her sock drawer, Mayra noticed that the texture of the heels and toes was soft and fluffy, like a sponge. So, Mayra bought a fresh three-pack (thank goodness) of ClimateRight by Cuddl Duds Low-Cut Socks ($6) and tested them out with her makeup routine. Mayra used the sock to apply her foundation as well as blend, and the results were kind of amazing! She looked like she had her makeup professionally done, which, she kind of did since this IS her job and all, but the fact that it was almost all done with a sock is mindblowing. Watch for yourself below: And the best part is, you can just throw the socks in the wash and use them again! "This might be the next BeautyBlender, just saying," Mayra told her viewers, and we have a feeling she's spot-on with this one. Once And For All, Should You Wash New Clothes Before You Wear Them?

Come home. Open your shopping bags. Rip off the tag. Put it on. When you buy something that you love, there's no better feeling than putting it on, straight out of the bag. BUT, you might be putting on more than just your new favorite t-shirt. Expert in dermatology Donald Belsito of Columbia University Medical Center told the Wall Street Journal that there might be some additional unwanted "things" that you're putting on when you wear new, unwashed clothing. Belsito explains that although a garment says "Made In" one country, it may have been treated with dyes in another, and stitched in a third, so you really don't know where your clothes have been! Also, he reveals that he has discovered bacteria and strains of lice that originated in the store. He writes, "I have seen cases of lice that were possibly transmitted from trying on in the store, and there are certain infectious diseases that can be passed on through clothing." So, to avoid skin irritation, contact dermatitis, or other bacteria, it's probably a good idea to give your new items a precautionary wash before you wear them out. Better be safe than sorry, right? The Huge Mistake Almost Every Woman Makes When Buying Sunglasses

No woman's outfit is complete without a pair of sunglasses, especially during the summer. The more out there and unique your shades are, the better. There are so many types to choose from these days, with all different styles, shapes, lens colors... the list goes on and on. But before you go buying a great pair of lenses for every outfit (guilty!), there's something you need to know... You might be making the same mistake as tons of other women when it comes to buying sunglasses. Many of us forget to check if the lenses that we want are polarized.  What does that mean? Well, polarized sunglasses contain a special filter that blocks a specific type of reflected light, cutting glare and haze, and better protecting our sensitive eyes. Now that's important! Check out these awesome polarized lenses that will protect you, too: Ray-Ban Large Polar Aviator Sunglasses ($200) SPITFIRE Round Polarized Sunglasses ($59) Don't forget to check out: Essie's new polish line and things you didn't know about Steve Madden [Photo: The Fashion Guitar]

Why You Should Be Swimming With Your Hair In A Braid

I have really tangle-prone hair. I was one of those little girls that would cry and scream and demand more No More Tears spray when my mom would brush my hair. Now, as an adult I have color-treated hair which makes the situation so much worse. Pretty much any time my hair gets wet--after a shower, after swimming--I have to deal with mucho tangles. I don't cry about it *as much* anymore, and I have picked up a few tricks for dealing with the issue: One trick is to use a square paddle brush. This is especially great if you have long hair. This wooden one from Aveda is good, or you can get one like a $4 Conair one at the pharmacy. You're good either way. When it comes to swimming in a pool or an ocean--the trick is to wear your hair in a braid. Learning to do this was a complete game changer for me. I used to literally bring a hair brush to the beach--now what I do is just quickly braid my hair before jumping in, usually in a side braid like this because I'm a really bad braider (and yes, tangly hair runs in my family!): https://www.instagram.com/p/BFJliiJNJi8/?taken-by=nycnewlywed&hl=en It really does the trick. That way, when you get out of the water, you just take out the braid and run your fingers through your hair. You won't have any tangles and your hair will have perfect beach waves by the time it dries. Or you can do boxer braids or french braids or pigtail braids--whichever you prefer/are able to do fairly quickly: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG4oL2VyT09/?tagged=braids&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BG4pmCHIVba/?tagged=braids&hl=en These girls know what I'm talking about: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG4mzbbFoyY/?tagged=braids&hl=en Even Kylie Jenner knows: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG4plx1tLiI/?tagged=braids&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BG4k0htHUKI/?tagged=braids&hl=en

I Haven’t Stopped Wearing These Ellesse Slides Since I Got Them–They’re That Comfortable

If you're looking for a super comfy pair of slide sandals for summer, but don't want the same adidas style that everyone already owns, here's my rec: Ellesse Elba slides ($24.49). Yes, that price is accurate and yes, these babies are super comfortable. I'll be honest--I was reluctant to jump on the slide sandal bandwagon. I've seen one too many dudes in adidas shower shoes and socks to really wrap my mind around these shoes being okay to wear. But then I received a pair of these Ellesse sandals and I've done a complete 180. Not only do I have no problem wearing these babies outside--I really don't want to wear anything else! Sadly, Ellesse is a British brand that isn't super readily available here in the US. Fortunately, I found one website that will ship them to the states without charging you a small fortune, so snag a pair stat! You Should Be Sleeping With Your Hair In A Braid–Here’s Why

We told you why you should be sleeping with your hair in a bun, but now we have another tip to help you wake up ***flawless.*** Remember Mia Thermopolis' hair pre-makeover in The Princess Diaries? Doing this will help you avoid ever looking like that. Got your attention now?  So here's what you should do: try sleeping with your hair in a braid. When you wake up, you will have bouncy curls with minimal effort--it seriously takes just 1 minute to throw your hair in a braid. Don't make the braid too tight to avoid putting any strain on your hair, and braid all the way to the bottom so you don't have a non-curly section at the end. Also, make sure to use a no-crease hair tie or scrunchy so you don't break your ends. Try out this hair hack for gorgeous and easy waves! How An “It” Bag Is Made: From First Sketch To Street Style Gold

An "It" item comes in many forms--handbags, most commonly (Birkin, PS1), but also shoes (rag & bone Newbury, Isabel Marant Bekett), jewelry (Sydney Evan Love ring, Cartier nail bangle) and even clothing (J Brand Houlihan cargo skinnies, Phillip Lim Nueva York tee). We've all had a fascination with one, if not many, of these "It" items at some point. I can easily recall my own obsession with the Fendi Baguette, made famous by Carrie Bradshaw. Who could forget the scene in which SJP's character is robbed and the mugger demands that she hand over her bag. "It’s a Baguette," she famously corrects him. Or in 2005 when Marc Jacobs debuted the Stam. Remember how nuts everyone went for that perfect bag, with its quilted body and chunky chain? It seemed like every girl on the streets of New York had one, especially my classmates at FIT. We were all obsessed. So how does an article of clothing or accessory earn its "It" status? Of all the collections issued each season (between New York, London Paris, Milan and beyond), and the fifty or so products within each line, how does an "It" item stand out from the rest and become the one thing that every girl around the world wants/needs/has to have? Is it a deliberate effort on behalf of the designers, like "We want this bag to sell," or is it more of a coincidence, like a celebrity posts a picture of themselves on Twitter wearing the item, causing it to go on back-order? Do the designers know from the initial sketch that they have created an "It" item, or do they have to wait to see how the public reacts to truly know? What about the role of celebrity gifting--how important is it for the item to be seen on a celeb? In an effort to better understand this phenomenon, we interviewed industry insiders, including top designers as well as those on the marketing/PR side who are responsible for promoting these "It" items and getting them in the hands of tastemakers. This is what we found: What's In A Name? There are many factors involved with the creation of an "It" item, starting with the name. Historically, if a piece is named after an "It" girl, it has a better chance of becoming an "It" item. Many brands have named or re-named products after stylish public figures such as socialites, models, actresses, etc., to achieve this. For Hermes, this meant re-naming a leather handbag that they had been making since the 1890s the "Kelly," after American-actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly used it to shield her pregnant belly from the paparazzi in 1956. Hermes had already been selling the bag under the name "Sac à dépêches" for many years by the time Grace Kelly wore it, but it wasn't truly popularized until after it took her name. As the "Kelly," it became their bestselling handbag, and still is to this day. Hermes followed the same thought process when naming their 1982 travel bag the "Birkin," after English actress and singer Jane Birkin, and many other designers have played the name game since. Marc Jacobs’ Stam comes from supermodel Jessica Stam, Mulberry’s Alexa and Cara bags are named after "It" girls Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne, and Gucci’s Bardot was named after French sex kitten Brigitte Bardot. When The Concept Comes First For some designers, the process of producing an "It" bag or shoe starts before anything is manufactured or even designed--it starts with the concept. In 2001, Jimmy Choo wanted their fledgling handbag collection to take off the way their shoes had (at the time, they were just making evening bags and selling about 600 units per year). Co-founder Tamara Mellon had witnessed how the Fendi Baguette, Prada Bowling Bag, Chloe Paddington and YSL Mombasa had taken off in the 90s, and she wanted the same success for a Jimmy Choo design. "Being known as an 'accessories brand' was far superior to being known as just a shoe company," Mellon wrote in her biography "In My Shoes." With the outright goal being to create an "It" bag, Mellon and her team hired an outside design consultant and held design meets to look at the prototypes as they came in from his studio in Italy. Keeping their eyes out for the next big thing, Mellon and her employees combed through the designs, finally landing on a favorite. Timing Is Everything Other brands, like Proenza Schouler, strike while the iron is hot. The design duo had just won the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award when they released their bestselling PS1 satchel in 2008. At the time, every department store was carrying their collection and every woman wanted something Proenza Schouler in her closet. They were at the top of the fashion world and the PS1 couldn't have come at a better time. And the public reception couldn't have been better. When the cobalt suede version first came out in 2012, it sold out within a week at Barney's. I remember going to Proenza sample sale that same year and almost everyone was there trying to get a PS1. Much to their (and my) dismay, there was not a single PS1 at the event. The Role Of Fashion Editors  When Celine’s Luggage tote first launched, it was everywhere. It was featured on cult handbag blog Purse Blog, in VOGUE and ELLE, and in countless other fashion magazines worldwide. That doesn’t happen by accident; this is where public relations comes in to play. Promoting a bag or shoe starts with getting it into the hands of the long-lead fashion editors, specifically the Senior Accessories Editors at places like VOGUE, Lucky, Glamour, ELLE, etc. Technically, these editors don’t accept gifts (though that rule definitely gets broken), so publicists will have them come in to the designer’s showroom to look at a collection--this is an Editor Preview. “If the editors like what they see, they’ll ask to 'pull' (borrow) pieces from the collection to use in shoots for an upcoming issue. And when a bag or shoe is really strong, it’s more than likely that more than one magazine will pull it to shoot,” explains a PR executive we spoke to. And the buzz begins to brew. Celebs, Socialites & Beyond If a bag or shoe gets positive feedback from editors at the preview, publicists make sure that they pitch or gift that item to celebrities or other public figures who they want to be seen wearing it. They know that celebrities, in particular, have a lot of sway over what us regular people want to buy and that having their product worn by someone like Olivia Palermo or Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Aniston can make all the difference. A celebrity wearing your item can not only earn it "It" status, but can also drive sales in a major way. Such is the case for the Sydney Evan's "Love" ring.  According to the brand's designer and owner Rosanne Karmes, the ring had been around since 2008, "selling here and there," when Lauren Conrad infamously wore it in her Instagram post announcing her engagement to William Tell. Arguably, the "Love" ring upstaged her 2-carat diamond ring from Tell, and Conrad's posting caused the Sydney Evan website to crash. Soon, the ring was sold in out in many sizes and colors. "All of a sudden I started seeing the knock offs everywhere, including from very well-known designers that were much bigger than me," Karmes explains. For rag & bone, celebrities have played a major role in the success of their bestselling Newbury bootie. In fact, many celebs own more than one pair of the versatile shoe, such as Taylor Swift, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Sienna Miller, Rachel Weisz, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. This is the ultimate stamp of approval for a product and a guarantee of "It" status. For Jimmy Choo, the process of pushing their Tulita bag as an "It" bag involved getting it in to the right hands. In 2003, Tamara Mellon hosted a lunch at the Plaza Athenee in New York, where she invited a small group of very-well connected women. “After dessert we gave each of these women ‘the bag’." Mellon explained in her book. "It wouldn't be available in stores for another 5 months, but I wanted it to be seen and coveted, which it was. We developed long waiting lists for it.” Which brings us to the concept of wait lists and their role in creating demand for "It" items. The Wait List Creating demand for an "It" item can be done in many ways, one of which is having a wait list. A bag or shoe on backorder or with a wait list can create the kind of fervor that takes an "It" item over the edge. Sometimes the wait list is legitimate, as was the case with the seasons-long one for the Chloe Paddington bag or more recently for Celine's furry Birkenstock-style sandals. Other times, not so much. Many brands have been accused of faking a wait list to create more hype (remember the Birkin waitlist sham?). Just don't count on any of them ever admitting to it--this is one of the fashion industry's best kept secrets. Style Bloggers: The New A-Listers One could argue that in 2014, the style blogger is the new A-lister when it comes to influencing "It" items. This was certainly the case for Tiffany & Co when they relaunched their Atlas Collection in 2013. Their goal was for the collection to become a status symbol among the younger, cooler set (sort of like what they had done with the Heart Tag collection for teenage girls in the late 90s/early 2000s). They wanted the Atlas collection to the be the next "It" arm candy, and so they went directly after the most influential style bloggers including Aimee Song of Song of Style, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, Jessica Stein of Tuula, and others. The bloggers co-hosted an invitation-only launch event for the line in New York City and were gifted many pieces from the line. Bloggers are a great tool in driving sales, too. The reach is wide (Song of Style has more than 1.8 million fans on her Instagram account alone) and the sites feature direct links to buy just below the photos. Never before has a tastemaker had such a direct connection to selling merchandise, and brands have taken note. You will likely see more of this in the future. When the ‘It’ Bubble Bursts Of course, not every "It" item will have the long shelf life of a Birkin or a Chanel 2.55 or a rag & bone Newbury (it is still their bestselling boot five years after its debut). In a post for Man Repeller, Sophie Milrom writes, “I accepted that what goes up must come down—and what is an It Bag eventually was an It Bag.” Certainly there are exceptions to the rule that what goes up must come down, and most brands probably wish they could take a little of that Birkin magic and bottle it up for themselves. The truth is, however, that fashion trends come and go and so does the public's obsession with certain products. It’s happening right now to the Isabel Marant wedge sneaker and it happened to the Chloe Paddington bag. People eventually tire of things that are so overexposed. If you’re wondering what happens to "It" shoes and bags when nobody wants them anymore, here’s Sophie’s theory. “Maybe like every other cultural phenomenon that can’t be explained, they are big in Japan.” [Photo: Viva Luxury]

The One Thing You Should Never Do When Buying Makeup Online

We've all been there: you're almost out of your must-have mascara and just don't have time to hit up Sephora to grab a new one. The solution? Getting your beauty fix online. Buying makeup online is a godsend after all--no need to go to five different Sephoras looking for your exact foundation shade, and with services like Sephora Flash and Amazon Prime, your products can be at your door in 48 hours. But where should you be using caution when purchasing makeup online? No matter what kind of a deal you think you're getting, you shouldn't be buying beauty products on eBay. In the same way that the website tends to have issues with faux designer handbags, it's also a goldmine for fake luxury beauty products, which often can contain some dangerous ingredients. (We're talking lead and arsenic here, ladies.) We know, we know, it's always tempting to treat yourself to a deal--but unfortunately, this is one situation where if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be sure to stick to websites like brand pages, department stores, Sephora and Ulta where you know you'll be getting the real deal. The One Thing You Should Never Do When Putting Up A Ponytail

If you're having a bad hair day, if it's just too hot out, if you need your hair off of your neck and out of your face, we all resort to the ponytail. It's simple, reliable, and looks great on everyone. But there's something that you need to know about your trusty ponytail... you shouldn't be wearing one every day! We know, it's so easy to just take a hair tie and put your hair up, but doing this can actually be damaging to your hair. By putting your hair up in the same spot, day after day, you are putting pressure on the same hair follicles, which can weaken your hair and possibly prevent hair growth (no!!!!!). So, try using clips or bobby pins to keep your hair out of your face, or put your hair up in different spots on your head to try and ease the tension. The Internet Is Having A Meltdown Over Taylor Swift And Tom Hiddleston: The Best Reactions

Where were you when you first heard about Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston? Perhaps it was on your commute home from work or when you swore you wouldn't check your phone before bed but took just one innocent glance (It's never a good decision to look at your phone if you're "trying to go to sleep early," fyi). Whether you're team Taylor, Tom or Calvin Harris, there's no denying that everyone has a lot of feelings about this recent turn of events. Here are just some of the best reactions from Twitter--we're sure at least one accurately sums up your #Swiddleston thoughts. https://twitter.com/luciaferraramgc/status/743439968291422208 https://twitter.com/JayPacelorette/status/743354892752871427 https://twitter.com/itsmachan10/status/743500736344973313 https://twitter.com/LokiSnax/status/743455970899038208 https://twitter.com/jirene4eva/status/743452144209104898 https://twitter.com/nicedaybucky/status/743351161462218752 https://twitter.com/MccormackEimear/status/743469497105932288?lang=en https://twitter.com/palomedridista/status/743459556341211136?lang=en https://twitter.com/FaolainLuke/status/743338644094652416 https://twitter.com/warriorgirl17/status/743215367384760320 https://twitter.com/kreenichiwa/status/743502302548393984 https://twitter.com/Mayde2189/status/743205243819794432 https://twitter.com/okappachick/status/743386769589215232 Don't forget to check out: Calvin Harris unfollows Taylor on social media and Khloe's favorite $6 beauty product [Photos: Splash News]

Watch Anna Wintour Do Stand-Up Comedy Because She’s Actually Pretty Funny

Amy Schumer isn't just on the July cover of Vogue (first time!). The comedienne also stars in a hilarious video with none other than the magazine's HBIC, Anna Wintour. And, surprisingly, Amy isn't the funniest one here. Basically, the two women decide to swap jobs because they both think the other person has it easier. Amy plays Editor-in-Chief of the fashion bible for the day and fails miserably, while Anna takes a stab at some stand-up at the Comedy Cellar and totally nails it! Never thought I'd see the day when Miranda Priestly Anna Wintour could score some laughs. Can You Tell Which Nude Heels Cost $786 More Than The Other?

We're always looking for a simple heel that will go with any outfit we throw on. That's how we discovered the amazing 'Tribute' T-Strap Platform Sandal ($895) by Saint Laurent. The platform makes the heels way more comfortable, plus the weaving at the toes is so beautiful. What's not so beautiful is the steep price tag! Luckily, during our searches, we also came across Steve Madden's Kananda Platform High-Heel Sandal ($109). It's pretty much identical to the Saint Laurent shoes, minus the T-Strap, which, tbh, we could totally forgo if that means spending a quarter of the price on great heels. But before you buy, click below to find out which shoe costs $786 less than the other! The 5 Best At-Home Remedies To Treat Sunburn

After growing up with my mom constantly nagging me, "did you put on sunscreen?!" it's hard to believe that I still manage to get burnt during the summer. No matter how hard we try, sometimes the sun is just too strong, and we can't avoid getting a little too much color. We can all agree that we'd prefer sun-kissed skin rather than looking like a lobster. Here are some ways to soothe a sunburn with things you might already have at home OR can buy at the drugstore! Body Lotion. Find your favorite body lotion and lather up! If your lotion happens to have aloe vera in it, even better--the infusion of aloe will ease any stinging, and is also very helpful for peeling skin. Take a Bath. Adding certain elements to your bath can help soothe and eliminate the discomfort of your sunburn. Try adding apple cider vinegar to even out the pH balance of your skin, baking soda to eliminate irritation and redness, or some essential oils to relieve general pain. Hop in, and relax! Drink Water. When you're sunburnt, your skin is dry and dehydrated, so you need to replenish your body's water supply! Load up on water, juice or your favorite sports drink to rehydrate. Tea Bags. Apply freshly brewed tea to your sunburnt areas using a wash cloth. Black tea reportedly draws heat from sunburnt skin and also helps restore your skin's pH balance. Add some mint to your mixture for a cooling effect, and you've got yourself a soothing at-home fix. Cucumbers. Try using one of our favorite veggies for your sunburn. Mash up some cucumbers in a blender to make a paste, and apply to your burnt areas--including your face! Relax with a nice cucumber mask, and let your sunburn heal. The One Brand You’re Not Shopping At Sephora–But Totally Should

Sephora is known for carrying almost every makeup brand under the sun. However, most people overlook Sephora's own brand, Sephora Collection, in favor of name brands. Big mistake. Sephora Collection offers some heavy hitters that are a must-have in any beauty girl's makeup bag. Not only are these products amazing, but they are almost half the price of other similar products in the store. Here's my breakdown the best products from Sephora Collection: Citrus Brush Cleaner ($11.50): I cannot live without this brush cleaner. I order multiple bottles at a time. It's a quick drying spray that swiftly removes product from your brushes. All you need to do is spritz the product a few times on the bristles and wipe the brush off on a tissue. Triple Action Cleansing Water ($12): This is another one of my all-time favorites. This cleansing water is comparable to more expensive brands and it is just as good. I use it every night to take off my makeup Rouge Cream Lipstick ($12.50): Never spend money on expensive lipsticks  again. Sephora's Rouge Cream Lipstick has a creamy, soft texture that's extremely comfortable on the lips. It also comes in every color you can imagine. Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner ($12): This is a solid eyeliner. It gets the job done and doesn't cost a fortune. It's easy to apply and doesn't budge. Bonus: it has a built in sharpener. Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ($11): This makeup remover breaks down everything, even waterproof makeup. The texture is oily so I suggest using a cleanser afterwards. It's also great for people with sensitive eyes. Cream Lip Stain ($14): This lip stain kicks butt. It has major staying power without being too drying. When you apply it, it has a creamy texture. But then it turns into a silky stain. The Weekender Makeup Case ($38): This versatile makeup case is perfect for traveling (especially if you're a beauty hoarder). It holds a ton of product and as a special section for your makeup brushes. Sheet Masks ($6): Sephora offers a variety of cheap, individual sheet masks that should not be over looked. Each mask is infused with a different active ingredient intended to give your skin a boost. My personal favorite is Great Tea Mask ($6) which soothes the skin and reduces the appearance of breakouts. Any Sephora Favorites Set: These are the BEST deal at Sephora. Each Sephora Favorites Set features of combination of sample and full-sized products from all different brands. It's a great way to try new products. I suggest scooping up their new Chic It Easy ($49) set which features a full-sized Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat (which costs $42 regularly). Love Sephora? How To Whiten Your Teeth At Home So You Don’t Have To Go To The Dentist

How to whiten your teeth at home I am one of those weird people that actually likes to go to the dentist, but I understand that this is totally weird and that most of you *hate* going--like, with a passion. I agree it is super uncomfortable and awkward to have your teeth scratched and your gums sucked and of course the lingering taste of fluoride and the feeling of sore gums that comes after. Wait--why do I like it, again? It's because of how clean my mouth feels after, and most importantly, how friggin' white my teeth look for a couple of weeks. So--how can you whiten your teeth and get the benefits of going to the dentist without actually having to make an appointment and sit in a waiting room and open wiiiiide for the doc? Here's how (aka, my in depth look into at-home teeth whitening tactics): There are *hundreds* if not thousands of teeth whitening hacks on Pinterest. I just looked at about 50 or so of the most popular ones, and it looks like baking soda is in pretty much all of them. So, definitely buy yourself some baking soda and start there. Some recipes call for adding lemon juice, others call for adding hydrogen peroxide and water. Whichever technique you prefer/ingredients you have on hand, the next step is to mix them together and apply them to the teeth (one site called for applying them with a Q-tip, but I tried this and it's really hard to use a Q-tip--just use a toothbrush, the bristles hold the ingredients better). Brush your teeth for 2-3 minutes and then rinse. I did not see like whoa-total-makeover results right away--you'll have to do it a couple of times. But I would say it did make my teeth feel less yellow after a couple of tries. Another, more expensive but very effective, route to go is Crest Whitestrips. I have used them for years and they are insanely good. Even my dentist remarks how white my teeth look and asks me what I've been doing to get them that way (lol). When I tell her the Whitestrips she can never believe it (sorry if Crest is putting her out of business!). Anyways they are very effective if you follow the entire or even some of the regime (sometimes I'll do only three or four days of them to get the results I want). They make your teeth a little sensitive, but if you're not a wuss they are definitely the way to go. And then of course you have those whitening kits that every celebrity and their mother plugs on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/4pJlTyBRmS/ I have not tried them, but they seem to be pretty popular. I would try ordering one and contact the company if you don't get the results you want. If you are a really unhappy customer, it's possible they'll let you return or swap out the product. So--which at-home whitening technique will you try?

These Are The Best Denim Cutoff Shorts If Your Thighs Rub Together

No matter how much I work out, I will never have a thigh gap. It's a fact that I've accepted. But denim shorts that rise up in between my legs when I walk? I refuse to accept that, which is why I made it my mission to find a pair that looked great, but also stayed in place. The winner? Levi's 501 Shorts ($49.50). The 2.5 inch may seem short, but rest assured there's no visible butt cheek and they hit in just the right place to prevent bunching. I already own three pair--they're that good. A few notes of caution: sizing can be a bit tricky. My usual denim size was way too small and tight, but the size up was perfect. I could even afford to go two sizes up to achieve the slouchy "boyfriend" look. Also, I would advise against washing them after every wear (use these guidelines instead!) and drying is definitely a no-no to prevent shrinkage. Have another pair of denim shorts you love? If You Want #Flawless Skin, But Foundation Just Isn’t For You, Try Glossier’s Skin Perfecting Tint Stat

I'm 32 years old and have never used foundation. Not even once. And it's not because my skin is so perfect--I just don't know how and I'm terrified it would be too heavy and cakey and unnatural looking. But recently, I've been minorly obsessed with evening out my skintone. And the one product my millions of Google searches have led me to? Glossier's Skin Perfecting Tint ($26). Not only is it lighter than foundation; it's also lighter than tinted moisturizer. But miraculously, it still blurs discoloration and also leaves my skin hydrated and bright. Even better, for freckle-faced girls like me, this formula won't cover them up! I'm especially in love with the super lightweight formula for summer because I can sweat without fear that my face/makeup will slide off. Not shockingly, I'm not the only woman in love with Glossier's skin perfecting tint. Two of the five shades have been sold out for weeks now, but Glossier is promising to restock them this summer. My advice? Get on the waitlist for the colors that are already sold out or place your order for the colors that are still in stock before they're gone too. Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner: A Timeline Of Their Relationship

How many of you were heartbroken when Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's split hit the news? (Me!!!!) These A-list celebs had a romance for the books--their 10-year marriage was probably one of the most down-to-earth in all of Hollywood. We wanted to go back and see how the couple met, what their relationship was like, and what went wrong. Here is a complete timeline of Ben and Jen's relationship: 2001: The pair met on the set of Pearl Harbor, and their chemistry was instant--they became immediate friends! 2003: The duo co-starred again in 2003's Daredevil, during which time Ben had engaged in his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, aka "Bennifer" (the first). Garner was also with her ex-husband, Scott Foley, who she married in 2000. In 2003, Garner's career picked up, and she and Foley divorced, while Bennifer did not last. About a year and a half later, Ben and Jen finally got together (Bennifer part 2!!!). June 2005: Ben and Jennifer got married in Turks and Caicos, and six months later, the couple had their first daughter, Violet. Since then, their 10-year marriage was one of Hollywood's best--everyone loved their family-centered mentality. In 2009, they had their second child Seraphina, and in 2012, they had their third child Samuel. The pair were huge supporters of the Boston Red Sox, and were often seen at games! Fans admired their love for each other. It all went downhill in June 2015, when the couple announced they were separating. Rumors erupted in the press of Ben's affair with the family's nanny (remember those scandalous pics?!). In her interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer explained, "We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce." Our hearts broke when we heard the news, but we hope the best for the family moving forward! [Photos: Splash News]

If You’re Planning A Trip To Mexico, You Have To Stay At This Resort

The author of this post  received a complimentary trip to Dreams Riviera Cancun for this review, but was not compensated in any other way to write this post. All opinions expressed are solely the author's. This just might be one of the hardest stories I've ever had to write. No, not because I feel morally compromised. Instead, with each keystroke, I long to just be back at Dreams Riviera Cancun instead of just writing about it. I was lucky enough to be invited on a press trip to learn more about the resort and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it was honestly one of the best vacations I've ever taken... in my whole life. That may have a little to do with the fact that this is my first vacation without my daughter--she's 7, by the way. Don't get me wrong--I love her more than anything else in the world. But if I'm 100% truthful, I really, really enjoyed not having to constantly entertain a little person. Of course it also didn't hurt that Dreams Riviera Cancun was one of the most luxe resorts I've ever had the pleasure of vacationing. From the seriously stunning room with an oceanview balcony to the wildly friendly and helpful staff, I could not have asked for more. Actually, that's not true. A few more days in paradise would've definitely been nice. Here are a few more highlights of my trip: The Location Full disclosure: I was a little worried when I saw "Cancun" in the resort's name. As a woman over 30, I was definitely not looking to spend four days at loud resort overrun by coeds drinking from sun up until sun down. Fortunately, Dreams Riviera Cancun is actually in Riviera Maya and the clientele was a pleasant mix of couples and families. It's only about a 30 minute car ride from the airport and situated right on the beach. Of course, this makes for breathtaking sunsets (see photo above), impromptu dips in the ocean and ocean views that will really take your breath away. Looking to explore a bit? Cancun and its beloved nightlife are only an hour away. We actually opted to take a day trip to Tulum, which is also just an hour an away. The hotel actually arranged a private driver for us--and at the absolute last-minute, to boot! We asked the concierge about a day trip to Tulum at 9:30am and by 11:30am we were on our way. From the Mayan Ruins to the breathtaking white-sand beach, this was definitely a highlight of the trip. The Food My absolute favorite part of the trip? The food! And yes, I'm talking about the resort food! The restaurants at many all-inclusive resorts are generally not regarded for their delicious fare, but I was beyond impressed by every restaurant we visited at Dreams Riviera Cancun. My personal recommendations as follows: - The chicken mole at World Cafe (the buffet). - The shrimp tacos at Seaside Grill. - The chicken teriyaki at Himitsu. - The churros at El Patio. The Staff I alluded to this earlier, but having recently traveled to a resort in the Dominican Republic with a less-than-stellar staff, I can't tell you what a big difference pleasant, helpful staff can make. When I told the waiter at World Cafe how delicious the chicken mole was, he literally put down his tray and wrote out the recipe for me. When we decided on a whim to try to go Tulum, the concierge had it all set up within an hour. When it started downpouring one night after dinner, there were staff everywhere with umbrellas at the ready. The staff at Dream Riviera Cancun definitely made an already amazing vacation even more memorable. Learn more at dreamsresorts.com/riviera-cancun.

What Is ‘Benching’? Everything You Need To Know About The New Dating Trend

Benching: no, it doesn't just apply to that one guy on the sports team who never plays--and it's even been declared the new ghosting. So what exactly is "benching?" Essentially, benching is the halfway point between ghosting someone and actually dating them. It's the practice of not necessarily cutting ties completely with someone, but instead keeping in touch with them just enough in case you might want to date them in the future. Benching often appears in the form of sporadic texts and dates made only to be cancelled one or two days before. Basically, it's putting someone on the proverbial "bench" of the dating world, so to speak. Benching is the dating behavior you've probably been doing without really realizing it. We've all had those people we've dated who we've been perpetually unsure about no matter how many times we see them. Maybe they seem great on paper, but the spark wasn't there, or maybe you weren't ready for a relationship just yet, but think you might want to date them down the road. In many ways, benching makes sense. Why be rude and completely ignore someone if there's a chance you may want to stay friends or date later? At least there are no hard feelings, unlike with the drastic move of ghosting. On the flip side, that person you only hear from occasionally when they text a picture of a cute French Bulldog puppy they saw on the street or likes your random, 2-week-old Instagram photo? You're probably being benched. The one who you're not really even sure exists anymore because they have cancelled so many of your plans together? Also a major symptom of benching. And if you're the one being benched? Sorry, but they are probably just not that into you. As Beyonce would say, "Tell him boy, bye," and find someone who's completely invested in getting to know you. Here’s A Look Inside Taylor Swift’s New $40,000/Month NYC Home

Instead of dropping a fire album, Taylor Swift is coping with her breakup from Calvin Harris in a different way. The popstar is renting a $40,000/month NYC townhouse while her $20 million TriBeCa penthouse is under construction. I need a moment to process how much money was just in that last sentence. OK, I'm back. Taylor's temporary pad is located on Cornelia Street in the West Village. The five-story carriage home features five bedrooms, six baths, a two-story patio and a private garage. Oh, and there's an indoor pool. We're sure the squad will be photographed on some swan floats any day now. Don't forget to check out: [Photos: Splash News, StreetEasy]

4 Genius Tricks To Fake Super Long Hair

While heading to the salon to get a chop when we want shorter hair is pretty simple and straightforward, going from short to long isn't so easy. Of course, there's the option of hair extensions, but it's a process that's both pricey and time-consuming. Thankfully, there's plenty of ways to fake longer hair while you wait for your locks to lengthen IRL. Lots of Layers Next time you hit the salon, avoid blunt cuts and ask for a more layered look instead. While a cut that's all one length makes the exact length of your hair obvious, a layered look will make the ends of your hair less defined. Pick a Center Part Much like when wearing horizontal or vertical stripes, a side part adds width, while a center part will visually lengthen vertically. Translation: For hair that instantly looks longer, simply switch up your part. Straighten Things Out The quickest way to add length to wavy or curly hair without a trip to the salon is by straightening it. No need to flat iron it to death either - the key here is to do a DIY blowout with a round brush to avoid losing bounciness and volume. For the perfect bombshell blowout, run a little bit of Bumble and Bumble Straight Blow Dry ($31) throughout your hair before beginning. Hack Your Ponytail If it's feeling like an updo kind of day, this easy ponytail trick will seriously blow your mind. Start by pulling hair into a half-up style, and pull half of your hair into a high pony on top of your head. Underneath, pull the rest of your hair into a second, lower ponytail. Pull the hair from the higher ponytail over the lower one to hide it, and you'll visually double the length of your tresses - it's that easy!
