If you feel self-conscious about wearing an itty bitty bikini in from of your relatives, but don't want to sacrifice style, try a feminine tankini like this one by Juicy Couture ($139- $85 top, $54 bottom sold separately). 4 Bad ’90s Trends We Never Expected To Be Cool Again
Fashion faux-pas from the '90s makes us cringe--yet some of the big trends are here to stay--at least for awhile. And dare we say, some of them are kind of growing on us. Here's our blast from the past trends to take note of, so you don't make those same styling mistakes this time around. Combat Boots In the early 90's, Claire Danes played a perpetually angsty and grunge-loving adolescent on My So Called Life. Today, much less angsty Emma Roberts looks more casual-chic than punk rock concert ready--but the combat boots are back. This Aqua blazer ($68.60, down from $98 captures the look perfectly. What do you think about Bess' ($460) take on Doc Martens by adding blinging gold grommets to the tops of combat boots? Shoulder Pads Looking back on Dynasty we can now understand that it wasn't exactly the pinnacle of high fashion. Joan Collins went all out with a colorblock jumpsuit, but we much prefer Kim Kardashian's glittering party girl look. Strong shoulders (whether shoulder pads are added or not) are everywhere. This Alice + Olivia sequin dress ($485) is no exception. Acid Wash Jeans The power of acid wash jeans was once so strong that even the guys on Beverly Hills 90210 wore them. We've stopped idolizing Dylan since, but the allure of the acid wash has not faded. Take a cue from Nicole Richie and pair them with hippy chic pieces inspired by the 1960s, so people don't mistake you for a member of the Peach Pit clique. These Michael Michael Kors skinny jeans ($44.90, down from $99.50)are great if you want to test, not invest in the acid wash trend. Add a floral crocheted blouse, like this one from Alloy ($34.90-$36.90). To finish it off in true Richie style, add a suede fringe bag from Delia's ($49.50) mixes decades to create a decidedly modern outfit. Wooden Clogs You get the idea: who could have ever predicted that wooden clogs would make a comeback? We truly hate to say this, but Alexa Chung looks pretty darn cool in head to clog Chanel, making us sufficiently jealous of her look. We think that Joie's black snakeskin clogs ($335) may be even better than Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel clogs. Find out about all the latest trends with our guides to spring fashion, including flat shoes and rain boots. Check out all the best online deals with our list of this week's online sample sales.
Red Carpet Re-Do: Christina Hendricks Dresses Like A Gothic Milkmaid
It's hard to argue that anyone in Hollywood right now is sexier than Mad Men's Christina Hendricks. The redheaded siren usually knows how to perfectly accentuate her famous curves and make every outfit look fabulous. Unfortunately, on her most recent red carpet, that was hardly the case. We're here to show Christina how to wear ruffles without getting eaten alive by them. What She Did Wrong: The fabric of the dress and the awkward layering of the ruffles, oddly reminded us that we need to take out the garbage Ruffles should never take over the entire dress--less is more When you're head to toe in black throw on some kind of colorful accessories so you don't look like you're headed to a funeral after the red carpet What She Should Have Done: Ruffles is one of the most elegant ways to dress for an evening event, but try to keep them to a minimum like with this mini number by French Connection ($168). Gold cut out heels by Cynthia Vincent ($162.25) add some glam to this LBD. Shine throughout the entire night in these adorable gold star earrings from Marc by Marc Jacobs ($58). If you feel like you need some more texture or just love ruffles as much as Christina does, try this ruffled flower clutch by Sondra Roberts ($98). Red Carpet Re-Do: Chloe Sevigny Moonlights As A Mime
Chloe Sevigny is never one to blend into the crowd with her outfit choices, and she usually successfully pulls off her hipster style. The other night however, Chloe looked more like a street performer than a style star. Let us at Red Carpet Re-Do show you (and Chloe) the right way to make a romper look nighttime appropriate. What She Did Wrong: This basically is the black version of an inmate suit, we're sure that must not have been the look you were going for, eh Chloe? Those gloves make us think Chloes about to break out into a jazz hands and Broadway number; maybe she's just a Glee fanatic? Not only do those too long pants make Chloe look like she's on stilts, but they cover the best party of any outfit: the shoes What She Should Have Done: Lets face it Chloe, you're not J.Lo in a music video and therefore really none of us are going to look good in a full pants jumpsuit. We suggest you try a solid colored romper with dressed up accessories if you want to do the onesie look. A silk romper won't look like a costume the way a jumpsuit does. This romper from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent ($229) cinches at the waist and has a flattering deep V neck. Instead of dated long black gloves, cover your wrist with this adorable bow cuff by Kate Spade ($129). Add some contrasting white to this all black look with oxford pumps by Sergio Zelcer ($100.62). Go for gold like Chloe, with this long pendant necklace from Marc by Marc Jacobs ($98). Tie together the shoes with an oversized leather envelope clutch by Abas Rose ($162.25) that is sleek, but has plenty of room for all your evening essentials. See which other celebs had major fashion faux pas' with all our Red Carpet Re-dos. Find the best celebrity style with our star fashion guides, including celebrity dresses and shoes.
Red Carpet Re-Do: Gwen Stefani Forgot To Change Out Of Her Pajamas
There are some celebrity style icons we'd never expect to scold in Red Carpet Re-do, but Gwen Stefani's elfish pajama look is too hideous to look the other way. Let's give Gwen the benefit of the doubt and assume that she had a really frazzled day and that's how she ended up in only her underwear on the red carpet. Here's how Gwen could have pulled off the lingerie look without actually wearing it out of the bedroom. What Gwen Did Wrong: We're all for sexy lingerie under clothes--but we'd rather she save it for Gavin, not her fans. The dark green silky shorts look like something out of a bad Santa movie. The shoes are so cartoonish it looks like your feet are bound with massive ropes. A simple ankle strap will usually do the trick Pearl bracelets and heavy metal necklaces--time to choose: are you proper or punk? Accessory overload. What She Should Have Done: Sheer, lace and silk are very much in for spring, but there's a fine line between looking like the best dressed girl of the night and a lady of the night. When wearing such sexy lingerie-style pieces remember to cover up. This Haute Hippie ($73.50) blouse adds an unexpected feminine element to the tuxedo style. Make sure you throw on a basic cami, like this one by Copper Key ($12) under this sheer blouse or you'll definitely be the center of conversation, and not in the way you want. Soften up this look with a draped silk skirt by Zimmerman ($290) that makes this outfit look more age appropriate than Gwen's leopard print shorts. There's a lot going on in this outfit already, keep it simple with basic peep toe leather pumps by Via Spiga ($205.15). We have to hand it to Gwen that her metallic clutch is a good way to pull together the craziness of her outfit. To add some rock-star edge to this loud look, try this sliver clutch by BCBGeneration ($40.60) See what other stars have been off the fashion mark with all of our Red Carpet Re-Dos. Anne Hathaway Makes Hawaiian Print Look Cool
Anne Hathaway proves that you don't need to be super tall or wear sky high heels to pull off a maxi dress. The gorgeous starlet was spotted out in LA looking casual in a hippy chic dress with gladiator sandals. Here's how to get her breezy look that will leave you cool and comfortable as the temperatures heat up. Try Diane von Furstenberg's ($285) animal print dress that creates elongating motion with its swirling pattern. Ditch those uncomfortable heels in favor of leather gladiators like Anne's with these sandals by J. Crew ($98). Statement gold earrings dress up this casual look; try this textured pair by Anna Beck ($198) to seamlessly take this look into the night. What Do Rihanna And Selena Gomez Have In Common?
You might not immediately associate sexy songstress Rihanna with Disney starlet Selena Gomez, but then again who would have thought Rihanna and Khloe Kardashian would dress alike either? We're loving these two separate takes on mixing textures, above. They've both got the look down pat, and to be honest, it makes us feel like maybe we can pull it off. It's really easy to mix fabrics and look like a mess, (unless you're following our guide to mixing prints) but these ladies make it work. We've combined the best aspects of each star's look to create the perfect spring ensemble. Combine the flirty flared look of Rihanna's skirt and Selena's flattering draping and you get this skirt by Z Spoke by Zac Posen ($355). Pair the silk printed skirt with a contrasting cotton ruffled top from See by Chloe ($220) We hunted down Rihanna's exact jungle-inspired mules from Alexander Wang ($425) that are a fabulous statement piece you'll wear all the time. Tights And Shorts: The Unlikely Fashion Combination Sweeping Hollywood
Some of Hollywood's chicest starlets are moving into spring by ditching their skirts in favor of shorts with tights. Katie, Nicole and Kate prove that this trend is versatile and works no matter what your style mantra is. These classic jean shorts by J. Crew ($79.50) are instantly dressed up with a pair of opaque, silky tights by Wolford ($52) that will literally last forever. Get a plain white tank, like this one by Kain ($80), that you can wear under each of these three looks. On warm days, take a cue from Katie and simply throw on a printed cotton scarf like this one by Guess ($61.44). Go retro in this vest by Bindya ($42.90) that embodies Nicole's hippie chic style. Beyonce Pairs Cut Off Shorts With A $1,000+ Chanel Jacket
One of the many reasons why we love Beyonce is that she never looks anything but fierce, even while doing the most banal of activities. She was recently photographed making cut-off jean shorts look like haute couture. Her mix of high and low fashion has us wanting to dress up our old cut-offs and wear them out at night. We'll show you how to pull off this look even if you don't have a Sasha Fierce sized budget. Try a pair of pre-distressed jean shorts like these by J Brand ($158) that aren't so short that they would be scandalous when paired with heels. Since most of us don't have the same size bank account as Beyonce, opt for a faux-Chanel jacket that's equally as chic like this one by J.Crew ($325). We appreciate that Beyonce isn't too much of a diva to rock a fun heart t-shirt like this one from Delia's ($19.50). Beyonce is definitely a fashion risk-taker, so we're going to leave her to those hard-to-pull-off denim pumps, and instead go for some light blue sandals by Miss Me ($37.95 - $39.95). Never one to shy away from extravagant accessories, Beyonce piled on Chanel necklaces and a chain-link purse, but we suggest these more accessible Chanel look alikes by Betsey Johnson ($150) and Kate Spade ($265), respectively. Check out all of our celebrity style guides, including celebrity sunglasses and handbags. Get the lowdown on all the best online sales with our list of this week's online sample sales.
Red Carpet Re-Do: Mischa Barton In The Most Unflattering Pants We’ve Ever Seen
Mischa Barton hasn't exactly been hitting the mark stylewise lately, and she's done it again, this time in heinous yellow pants. This look is not doing her any favors. We love florals and pastels for spring just as much as the next gal, but let us here at Red Carpet Re-Do show you how to do it in a more appropriate and forgiving way. What She Did Wrong: High-waisted skinny jeans are extremely hard to pull off; don't make it harder on yourself by wearing them in pale yellow Unless your name's Dorothy and you're trying to get back to Kansas, lose the awkward red pumps This floral shirt might actually be cute, but sadly Mischa ruined it by tying it like a trashy farmer-girl What She Should Have Done: Florals are a great staple for spring, but it's almost like Mischa is trying really hard to make them look bad. Stick with simplicity when it comes to prints and you'll look less outfit-confused and more pulled-together and chic. A floral print top that's two soft colors, like this one by Penecy ($130) is more attractive than Mischa's loud multicolored version. We give you permission to break out your white jeans now that the weather's warm, and try these by J.Crew ($98) that are tight enough to give your legs shape, but loose enough so every vein isn't visible. Nothing says springtime like a pair of espadrilles like these by Jessica Simpson ($68.95). Pair them with a dainty cross body purse by "it" girl purse designer Rebecca Minkoff ($150) to complete this ultra feminine look. See how we've helped other celebrities in fashion distress with all of our Red Carpet Re-dos. Get more celebrity style, including celebrity sunglasses and our guides to jeans, plus how to wear almost anything.

Jennifer Hudson And Eva Longoria Prove Leggings Can Be Slimming On All Body Types
Two completely different body types, one fabulously slimming style. Jennifer Hudson and Eva Longoria were both spotted recently in a black leggings and blazer combo. Jennifer opted for peep-toe booties, while Evan went with over-the-knee boots, both creating an elongating silhouette. Choose which starlet's style best fits your body and put your old leggings to chic use. Start this look with a basic pair of black leggings, like these by Kenneth Cole ($49). Paired with a cropped blazer like this one by Aqua ($88), the long leggings juxtaposed with the short blazer will make your legs look super lengthy. Under the blazer, wear a thin gray sweater like this one by Aubin & Wills ($160). The sweater should cover at least part of your bottom in order to maximize the flattering capabilities of this outfit. Now decide if you'd rather go the Jennifer or Eva route. For lots of added height and a more nighttime appropriate look, try these peep-toe booties by Pelle Moda ($94.58-$128.70), like those worn by Jennifer. For a more casual look, go for over-the-knee suede boots like Eva's with these by Diba ($71.16-$88.95). Both styles of black boots when paired with black leggings will make it look like you have legs for days. Check out which other celebrity styles we love. Kim Kardashian Doesn’t Look Fat In Sailor Stripes, And Neither Will You
We (and Kim Kardashian) are here to dispel the old myth that you can't wear horizontal stripes because you'll look fat. It simply is not true. The nautical look is back for spring and we've enlisted Kim Kardashian to show you how to make stripes look not only sexy, but also slimming: Go for a red and white body-hugging sailor t-shirt, like this one by A.P.C. ($70) so that excess baggy shirt doesn't add any volume to your look. Pair it with a khaki high-waisted skirt, like this pocketed one by Nanette Lepore ($298), that will cover any problem stomach areas, and poufs out a bit making your waist look smaller. Nothing like some nude strappy heels from Pour La Victoire ($290) to amp up the va va voom in an otherwise tame outfit. Throw on a top handle tote by Fossil ($103.60), that's not exactly the same color as your shoes as too preppy, matchy-matchy. Top off the look with this J.Crew crystal rock necklace ($128) that works with everything in your wardrobe. Check out which other celebrity styles we love. Reese Witherspoon Didn’t Wash Her Hair But Still Looks Cute
Annoying, but true: Reese Witherspoon looks fabulous even when running errands with greasy hair. She gets away with it because she's a smart, not sloppy dresser. This weekend, try Reese Witherspoon's effortlessly relaxed look: A shirtdress is the ultimate breezy weekend dress. This black option by James Perse ($195) cinches at the waist to give shape to an otherwise baggy style. If it's a little chilly out, throw on a boyfriend cardigan by Kenneth Cole ($39.90) because you can never go wrong with black on black. Even though you're not dodging the paparazzi, hide unwashed hair and puffy eyes by going incognito in a straw fedora by J. Crew ($34) and large cat eye sunglasses by Ray Ban ($129). Foley + Corinna's ($198) trademark purse is multi talented --use it as a crossbody bag when you need free arms or as a handbag. Red Carpet Re-Do: Jennifer Love Hewitt Can’t Decide If She’s Sexy Or Stepford
Jennifer Love Hewitt is newly back on the dating market and we think she needs a few tips on dressing sexy verus dressing like a Stepford wife. It's like she's trying to prove to us that she knows what trends are in for spring: florals, cage booties, and turquoise, but come on now JLH, not all at the same time. Take some cues from us here at Red Carpet Re-do on how to do spring trends right. What She Did Wrong: The only time this floral jacket is appropriate is if you're over 70 and shuffling around the confines of your home The jacket is completely swallowing JLH's petite physique and hides ruins what's otherwise a cute turquoise dress Yay for cage booties, but nay for pairing them with brights and florals all at the same time What She Should Have Done: This spring's trends are super cute and vibrant, but that doesn't mean they look good all thrown together; think before you dress, don't blindly follow trends. Now that spring has sprung, it's finally appropriate to break out colorful cocktail dresses at night. Try this Max & Cleo dress ($86.40) that incorporates the colorblock trend. This one is perfect for Jennifer's pear shape body. This buys turquoise dress only needs minimal accessories like an understated clutch. This Bottega Veneta-inspired clutch by Franchi Joan ($121.84) with gold hardware pulls together the whole look for the perfect spring-friendly evening outfit. Tory Burch's sandal-clog hybrid ($295) is a trendy spring shoe that better matches a turquoise dress than brown cage booties. The wooden heel makes it a great daytime shoe but the metal and leather detailing transitions it into the night. Be Like Carrie Bradshaw, Sans The Co-Dependence And Whining
Here we go again: the anticipation for the Sex and the City 2 movie is starting, with what else but tons of collaborations? Apparently, the fashion and beauty industries have been feeling very "inspired." From underwear to a soon-to-be-released special edition HP computer collaboration, and upcoming Payless collaboration with the movie's famed stylist, Patricia Field. SATC 2 is about to invade every aspect of your life: Select your undergarment according to which Sex and the City character best fits your mood that day (slutty? sweet? curious? take-charge?) with Cosabella's 4-pack of "Cutie Booty" thongs ($69). It's a totally cheesy concept, but Cosabella's thongs are comfy, sexy and cute so we can support a well-priced thong box set. We've been drooling over Sarah Jessica Parker's latest line for Halston Heritage, so it was not so shocking to see that Carrie makes not one, but two appearances in SATC 2 in SJP's breezy designs. Get the iconic white dress ($325) and the pleated 70's inspired party look ($435) that we're sure Carrie will wear to a fabulous New York City party. These foldable "after party" flats on the HBO website are actually a kind of genius idea to store in your bag for when you can't stand your heels any longer. Each of the four pairs of shoes ($64.99) is--you guessed it-inspired by one of the characters, with the Carrie on top left followed by the Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha on the bottom right. Patricia Field, who, as we mentioned, is designing a fall line for Payless that we cannot wait for - also sells SATC-inspired gear at her NYC store. Get the same metallic Mykita and Bernhard Willhelm limited-edition shades Carrie sports throughout the upcoming movie ($525). No one ever said dressing like Carrie Bradshaw would be cheap. Julep's 4 latest colors are (do we even need to say it?) inspired by the styles and personalities of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte ($24.50 for the set, $7.25 separately) as shown from left to right. Paint your nails to match your Cosabella thong and HBO flats to truly embody the essence of each character. Be prepared for the warm weather with our spring fashion guides, including the best rain boots and trench coats. Kell On Earth Finale: A People’s Revolution Love Fest, Kelly Cries Inside
The usual caliber of drama, bitchiness, and stress seen each week on Bravo's Kell On Earth was noticeably absent from the season one finale. It was like everyone at People's Revolution had been sprinkled with magical happy dust and having a positive attitude was the cool new thing to do. As much as our cynical side feels like this "fairy tale ending" was just good editing to end the season on an upbeat note, there were some genuinely touching moments that made us think that working for Kelly Cutrone may not truly be hell on earth. The Good (Aka Kelly, please hire us for Kell On Earth Season Two) Andrew and Skinner could not be more giddy and cute about planning Kelly's surprise birthday party. Their excitement is enough to melt the heart of even the coldest fashion PR worker. Being the savvy PR folk that they are, Skinner and Andrew pretend to be a newly engaged couple and schedule an appointment to go taste wedding cakes, for free. Throughout their "wedding cake tasting" Andrew is not only carrying a murse, but also wearing a floor-length skirt (*see faux engagement photo above). Kelly's "Mother-Daughter Time" with Ava includes taking her to a fashion movie shoot and getting their hair cut together at a luxurious salon. Can someone please give Ava her own reality show? Girlfriend's life is totally fabulous. Kelly cries not once, but TWICE in this episode; once at her surprise birthday party and later while talking about the party. This reminds us that under that black t-shirt and bad-ass cursing exterior lies a woman who's passionate about her company and employees. We'll give Kelly a free pass for not going outside. The Bad (aka Hell on Earth) "I can't help one more person for free" - Kelly rants yet again about how she's sick of people asking her for advice without first coughing up some money. We get it Kelly, there's no such thing as a free lunch, or even a favor in the world of People's Revolution. The People's Revolution staff buys Kelly a pair of goat hair booties, yes goat. Picture plain black leather booties, but with a goat's beard coming out of the ankle; they made us feel more than a little sick. Now that you've gotten a full season's peek into the world of Kelly Cutrone, what do you think: would you be able to take the heat at People's Revolution? On last night's episode, Kelly produced at 1.5 minute film for DKNY about their latest Cozy style sweater ($225). Considering the happy vibes throughout the episode, we were particularly feeling the fuchsia Cozy that can be worn a number of different ways. We can't finish out the Kell On Earth season without including at least one of Kelly's trademark dark sweaters. Throw on the Cozy ($225) in navy for the office or night on the town. Cute And Compact Umbrellas To Make You Wish For Rainy Days
Don't get caught helpless in the rain like Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf, the spring rain season doesn't have to be a downer if you have the perfect accessory to shield you from the elements. Protect from frizzy hair with one of these adorable umbrellas that are small enough to fit inside your everyday tote: Sticking with the love-rain analogy, Felix Rey ($88) wants you to spread the love with this colorful umbrella. You're sure to make someone's otherwise gloomy day with this cheerful style. Only the king of cool Marc Jacobs could make rain gear seem hipster chic. The details and name of the Miss Marc Glow in the Dark Umbrella ($68) are awesome with a starry night pattern that, you guessed it, glows in the dark and a tasseled handle add-on. Whip it out on your next rainy date night to create your own constellation. Why do the most romantic movie scenes always seem to take place in the rain under an impossibly romantic umbrella? Create a cheesy rain moment of your own with this ruffled heart-shaped umbrella by Juicy Couture ($38). If you can't afford a $795 Burberry trench (and really who can?) you can still get their trademark rain style with a Burberry print umbrella. In recent years, Burberry has added a modern twist to its classic prints, like the floating red hearts that decorate this Burberry umbrella ($125). Animal prints are a massive trend for this spring, so a leopard print umbrella is a stylish way to weather the jungles of the city. Saks Fifth Avenue's "Ultra Mini" umbrella ($32) folds up to a small size tiny enough to fit in nearly any purse. Find the cutest rain boots and trench coats to match these umbrellas and create a completely rain-proof ensemble. Red Carpet Re-Do: Taylor Momsen, We’re Calling Your Mom
If you were 16 year-old Taylor Momsen's mom would you let your daughter leave the house like this? Yeah, we wouldn't either. Let's play red carpet re-do to the Gossip Girl who looks more like a lady of the night then a high school student here. Taylor, you're a teenage girl in a hit TV series, surely that you can at least afford some pants and a hairbrush. But let's completely revamp her look and make it look much more appropriate for any girl no matter what their age with Red Carpet Re-Do: What Taylor Did Wrong: Unless you are Lady Gaga, you must wear pants, skirt, short, something, anything; you cannot just wear a shirt in public (see our rant on the pants vs. no pants debate) No one wants to see your garters unless you're auditioning for Pretty Woman 2 As though Taylor wasn't naked enough to begin with, she opted for a sheer shirt with a black bra underneath What She Should Have Done: A sheer blouse can be sexy and feminine if paired with the right bottoms. Pair a loose sheer blouse with a cami underneath and a tight bandage skirt for an evening friendly look. Tuck it into the skirt for a less sloppy ensemble than Taylor's failed attempt. Try this button down by Acne ($299) with this sung pink mini by Pleasure Doing Business ($90), at steal for under $100. Thigh high tights with lace tights are ultra sophisticated and feminine, but please, make sure you they are hidden under hem of your skirt. Wolford ($40) always makes the most comfortable and run-proof stockings. We do envy Taylor's ankle strap leather booties, and we love the price of this nearly identical pari by Nine West ($67.43-$78.66). Finish off the look with a patent leather doctor bag like Taylor's. This Hype Corey bag ($238.90-$293.3) has enough space to carry to work, but the patent leather finish makes it also function for nighttime. Tina Fey Makes Us Laugh, And Then Want To Copy Her Style (Minus The $2 Haircut)
Though Tina Fey downplays her attractiveness on 30 Rock, she always looks amazing in simple drapey dresses--and lately, she's been sporting them everywhere, from Esquire to David Letterman, where she admits it takes 100 people to shoot the cover of a magazine, and shows off her terrible haircut as a 9 year-old. When we saw her on his show the other night, it inspired us to copy her style. See the clip, below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lUCljciwU0 She's recently graced the covers of Esquire, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar looking flawless, we've put together how to get her best look from each magazine. Which of Tina's cover looks is your favorite? Nine times out of ten you can catch Tina Fey on the red carpet in a perfectly tailored LBD. We can appreciate that she went for a more sexy look for men's magazine Esquire, but still stayed true to her person style by not revealing tons of skin. Keep it sleek and classy like Tina at your next cocktail party with this deep V neck dress by Black Halo ($298). The decision to put a comedienne on the cover of fashion powerhouse Vogue, was much buzzed about, but the results were nothing less than stunning. We like that Tina stepped out of her comfort zone in a green halter dress that dipped down below her bust line. Speaking of another powerful and amazing woman, Sarah Jessica Parker's latest foray into fashion Halston Heritage, includes this green halter dress ($360) that has a low cut like Tina's, and can be worn with the straps crossed or straight around the neck. On the cover and in the pages of Harper's Bazaar, Tina went with solid colors that are spring and warm weather ready. We're copying the look with this Banana Republic silk halter dress ($69.90, down from $110). A strapless dress with a pointed bustier looks fashion forward and covers any sagging armpit skin that you might feel self conscious about. Try this white mini by Kimberly Ovitz ($407). Recessionomics: Paris Hilton’s Sunglasses Cost As Much As 100 Pairs Of Louboutins
All we can say is she'd better not lose them. The Luxuriator sunglasses cost a cool $65,000. The cost of these shades equals the same as a luxury sports car, or 100 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, among a million other things. Yet Paris throws them on to shield her eyes from the sun--unbelievable. Check out some more outrageously priced shades and our cheaper counterparts that are nearly identical: These sunglasses are by Los Angeles based designer to the stars, Luxuriator. Amusing name, not so amusing price tag. This model, the Duo 24 cost $65,000 and come equipped with everything you might want in luxury sunglasses: A 2 carat canary diamond and 132 hand-set pavé diamonds, creating a grand total of 3.45 carats of diamonds. Should you choose to purchase these, you'll be in good company with the likes of Paris Hilton (pictured above in her pair), Oprah, and Paul McCartney. For those of you who aren't million dollar heiresses, try these blinging shades by Fantas-Eyes ($26). Moss Lipow created these retro artsy shades out of ostrich and alligator leather, and although that is very impressive and all, we cannot comprehend how these rather ugly shades cost $3,800. For the price of a Cartier watch, we'd rather put our money towards some sunglasses that are actually stylish, like this oversized brown pair from Banana Republic ($98). We're sure PETA will soon be thanking us for our outrage over Moss Lipow's terrible fashion mistake. Compared to the previously mentioned shades, Dior's latest Glossy design seems downright affordable at $1,295. The limited addition sunglasses that are out in April, and we'll be first in line to get thme. We kid, these are in no way even remotely affordable, we can even barely afford the regular Glossys for over $200. Instead we'll opt for these large frame shades by AJ Morgan ($19.95). Kell On Earth: Is Working At People’s Revolution Totally Glam or Truly Hell On Earth?
This week has been a good one for Kelly Cutrone; her book hit the best seller list and Kell On Earth's a smash hit. But week after week, we've learned working in fashion PR isn't quite so fabulous--it's a little bit bipolar, in fact. We've taken a very scientific look therollercoaster of happiness in Kelly's office during this week's episode. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly from last night: The Good (a.k.a. Kelly, Please Hire Us) Kelly jets to the L.A. office, drives a hot sports car, makes a music video, hangs out with A-listers. Andrew and Stephanie goof around in the office playing dress-up in Givenchy couture accessories. Um, wow. Peoples Revolution interviews new hires over drinks. Seriously. Kelly supports herself, Ava, and pays her mom's bills. It warms our hearts to know that even fashion power girls love their mommies. The Bad & The Ugly Emily and Robyn hire laxidaisical Mallory, because she is "nice and experienced", but one day later, she's on Page Six and rumored to be in jail, having stolen $90,0000 in jewelry from her previous employer. Guess they didn't call her references. Overworked Skinner lives in a box of an apartment and has no time for her boyfriend who's threatening to break up. To make matters worse, Bravo taunts her by showing footage of her tiny apartment juxtaposed with Andrew's ridiculously large one, outfitted with an outrageous Versace bedroom chair. Will Skinner ever catch a break? Publicist Michelle complains to Kelly about a meeting with client GW, "I wanted to throw my Blackberry at him--he is the most disgusting, obnoxious person I've ever met in my life, ever." Michelle is the Naomi Campbell of PR and it's not attractive. When a parent of one of Ava's friends calls Kelly for business advice, she refuses without seeing some money first. Kelly holds up a sign to Andrew which reads "F*** you, pay for your advice." Don't think just because you're in with Ava that you're getting a free ride to Kelly. What do you think - would you work at Peoples Revolution? Find all the best online deals with our list of this week's online sample sales. Find out if you're a real fashion expert with one of our taste tests, and check out more Kell on Earth coverage.
Get The Look: Sarah Jessica Parker Channels Her Inner Carrie In Party Dresses
Sarah Jessica Parker is all over town doing promotions for the Sex and the City 2. Whether the movie itself will be any good is of less importance than the bevy of amazing clothes that will be on display throughout the film. Though you'll have to wait until May 27 for the premiere, SJP is already killing it on the promotions circuit. Just this week, she showed off three fabulous looks that prove that Carrie Bradshaw lives on. Here's how to get her top three looks of the week. Yellow, sparkles, and an asymmetrical neckline--looks like a classic Carrie Bradshaw out on the town outfit to us. SJP proves that she is one of the sexiest Hollywood moms out there in this yellow Lanvin look straight from the runway. Not to mention the metal platforms on her blush pink pumps, which have us drooling like we were in shoe heaven. Don't be afraid to mismatch with a bright yellow dress and nude pumps (black ones will make you look like a bumblebee). Follow SJP's lead with a yellow asymmetrical dress that ties over one shoulder, by BCBG Max Azria ($248). Like the platform detailing on SJP's shoes, these Trinitie pumps by Steve Madden ($80) are perfect. We haven't seen SJP dress this much like her alter-ego Carrie in quite some time, and we love it. This Marchesa party dress, includes playful elements like stars and tulle. The last time you owned a dress with stars on it may have been in middle school, but there are modern dresses that make star detailing look gaze-worthy fore very age. This Rory Beca dress ($187.50) is more cocktail appropriate than SJP's red carpet creation, allowing for subtle star detailing and a flattering bustier design. Let this dress do all the talking with minimal accessories, and tall patent leather platform pumps by Kenneth Cole ($244.95). At the after party for the launch of her Heritage line for Halston, SJP went with the new line's purple sheath and a tuxedo blazer by Marchesa. The combination of an oversized jacket with a tight and short dress makes the outfit functional in a dressy atmosphere, and practical for a club setting, once the blazer is removed. This look is nearly identical to SJP's, except it's only a fraction of the price. This Nanette Lepore wind-swept dress ($348) and French Connection tuxedo jacket ($148) appear simple apart, but combined create contrasting fabric textures and an overall breezy style that looks as effortless as it was to put on. Get more spring fashion ideas from our favorite posts on celebrity style, including rain boots and a look at SJP's Halston Heritage line. Spring Dresses That Hide Your Tummy ‘Til You Get To the Gym
Spring brings many wonderful things: sunshine, flowers, longer days...but also less clothing. Shedding layers after a long cold winter can be a little intimidating if you've been neglecting your usual bikini diet or haven't hit the gym since the flowers were last in bloom. Luckily, we've found dresses to hide extra belly weight that may be lingering from the winter months. Don't resort to wearing a loose sack or boring black all spring, embrace color and trends and learn how to dress for your body type with these five spring dress styles. Peplum If you're feeling self conscious about a protruding belly, a peplum style ruffle will do the trick. This two-toned Jay Godfrey number (on sale for $132) switches from purple to black at the smallest part of your waist, and then puffs out to hide problem areas like stomach and love handles. Empire Waist Empire waist dresses are a great go-to when you're feeling bloated, then throw in ruching below the bust line and you'll never need to wear a pair of Spanx under this dress. This Ella Moss dress ($162) hugs above the hips and makes jersey flattering with a corseted style of gathered fabric. Draping You don't need to stick to dark colors to look slim; draped fabrics make pale shades appear flattering. This Ali Ro mini ($264) distracts the eye away from the stomach in two ways by draping and crossing the body in one direction on top, and another on the bottom. The Grecian goddess look can be as comfortable as that toga you wore to party in college. Wrap Dress DVF basically invented the wrap dress and her spring line brought bright colors to the classic look. Cinch the waist on this deep red number ($325) as tight or as loose as you want to create a curvy silhouette. We've got more spring trends to pair with any of these dresses with our guides to spring fashion trends, including spring shoe trends and trench coats. Wear Now And Later: A White Boyfriend Blazer For Evening Chicer Than A Tuxedo Jacket
The perfect boyfriend blazer, kinda like the one you actually stole from your boyfriend, but much much more flattering. Remember Theory's video on cool ways to wear a blazer? Now we've got even more ideas. Theory's white blazer ($395) may seem demure, but it can be dressed up in a number of different fashion-forward ways. The white blazer is a staple piece that will serve you well through all types of weather and will outlast short-lived seasonal trends. Celebs have been coming out of the woodwork in white blazers so there are myriad of inspirational ways to style this look. Here are two of our favorites on two style icons that will work throughout the year. For Now: We know what you might be thinking: Kate Moss is a world famous super model, no way I can pull off leather shorts, but trust us, you can. The soft blazer with rough leather shorts from Marc by Marc Jacobs ($428) are like ying and yang, they may be opposites, but they balance each other out. It should come as no surprise that leather short shorts are a statement that need no added crazy accessories. Stick with all black, like Kate, try a perfect-fit top by J.Crew (24.50) and leg-lengthening platform pumps on sale from BCBGeneration ($89.99). For Later: Sarah Jessica Parker can (almost) always do no wrong, and this feminine-masculine combination is no different. Subtle girly detailing, like lace or flowers in a shade close to white alludes is sexy without throwing tons of skin in your face. Make this Cynthia Steffe dress ($345) less cutesy with the loose boyfriend blazer. SJP contrasts her light look with dark accessories in rough textures. Ditch your usual evening clutch in favor of a more practical large leather handbag by Michael Michael Kors ($248). A black multi-chain necklace pops against the white and cream look, and this necklace from By Malene Birger ($240) could also make a basic tank and skinny jeans outfit look hip. Check out more pieces you can wear now and later, and get all the latest celebrity style, including dresses and shoes. Love a good deal? Capes That Won’t Make You Look Like Superman
The cape has earned an interesting reputation throughout the years, but before you automatically associate it with flying powers or investigative skills, notice that it is also a staple among uber-hip fashionistas. Recently, The Sartorialist scoured the world to create a series called "How to Wear a Cape." Above are his most stylish finds from New York and Milan respectively. Here are our more budget and day-to-day friendly takes on the cape. Alice + Olivia's ($240) grey cotton cape can be easily thrown on for those spring or fall days that are not too hot and not too cold. It's shape gives waist definition that's best for petite women who might feel overwhelmed by this loose fitting trend. Take a long relaxing weekend in the country with this ranch style poncho by Line ($172.99). The knitted fabric makes it look one-of-a-kind, while the turtleneck and pocket provide added warmth. Just because capes seem like a whole lot o' fabric, doesn't mean you can't pair them with your favorite short shorts. An over-sized t-shirt material cape-shirt hybrid, like this one by LNA ($77) has a surfer chick aura that we totally dig. Ever wish you could be that women who can weather long plane flights and emerge looking impossibly fresh? We think this Helmut Lang ($147.50) cape is the secret to achieving that look. Bonus, it doubles as a better alternative to itchy airplane blankets. Upgrade your lazy weekend look from a grungy college sweatshirt to a chicer cape-sweatshirt combo. Twisted Heart's ($77) take successfully makes a subtle, yet stylish allusion to the 80's with this semi-acid wash look. Kell On Earth: Ava Proves Her Diva Status–And So Does Andrew
Last night's episode of Bravo's Kell On Earth was intense: stress levels reach an all-time high, the recession takes its toll, even People's Revolution dinner parties become bleak and Addam's Family themed, and the tribe becomes smaller as the other Andrew quits for greener California pastures. The shining stars were Kelly's daughter Ava and obviously Kelly herself. But before we continue on about Ava and Kelly's awesomeness, lets recap the best fashion of the night. The Perfect LBD And Purple Lip Combo When People's Revolution staffer Andrew throws his Addam's Family themed party, we couldn't keep our eyes off of co-worker Stephanie's tailored black sheath and deep purple lips. Alexander Wang is a genius when it comes to making cozy basics, so we're obsessed with his affordable line T by Alexander Wang, which includes this timeless sleeved black dress ($95). Stephanie's trademark is her ability to pull off purple lipstick without looking cheap. Try this Yves Saint Laurent shade ($30) to achieve a sexy purple lip that looks sophisticated. We're Kind of Jealous Of Andrew's Wedges Andrew M. has a unique style that's growing on us, even to the point where we were jealous of his Rick Owen's wedges. We must admit this is the first time we've gone searching for men's shoes in our size, but somehow Andrew inspired us to find these fabulous strapped up leather wedges by Dolce Vita ($175). Printed Wrap Kelly takes her employees on a much needed walk around the block to clear their minds, and soon they meet some cute boys along the way. To stay warm and make her all black uniform look fresh, Kelly throws on a Middle Eastern inspired print wrap. A statement wrap can really transform an outfit, and this luxurious look by Etro ($310) certainly does the trick. Ava And Kelly-isms: "Don't go to Wal Mart, it's so bad there...[it's] the enemy of Target." Ava, Kelly's 9 year old daughter is appalled when her grandma calls and says she's going to Wal Mart. Thoroughly disgusted, Ava tells Grandma she should listen to Mommy (meaning Kelly), and then she shakes her head in disappointed diva dismay. "He's the perfect boy to hang out with if you're a power girl... to come to events and look cute." Kelly plays matchmaker for employee Robyn throughout the episode and proves that "power girls" don't need a man to be happy, but they're awfully nice to have around as eye candy. "I always start barking about things as a way of training them." Kelly preaches about how to train entry-level employees; basically, they're just like dogs. And as we have well learned from Ms. Cutrone this season, if you yell (or curse) at them, they will obey. Don't miss a second of the Kell On Earth action and check out all of this season's episode recaps. Get the low down on all the online sales with our list of this week's online sample sales.
