What: Anne Hathaway’s cherry red lips.  You know, the ones that get to kiss Adrian Grenier.

Get the Look: Nicki Ledermann, the makeup department head on The Devil Wears Prada, shared her secrets with Sephora.  For red lips that are less Cruella DeVille and more ooh la la, go for Benefit Benetint as a base.

For Hathaway’s sophisticated Paris scenes, Ledermann dotted Dior Addict Lipstick in Positive Red, $23.50, in the center of the lips and blended well with her fingers to create a stained effect.  Keep it matte, don’t mess up this look with goopy gloss to keep the high fashion, high-powered Vogue vibe going.

Get the Look: Ruth La Fela (NYT) points out what I think is the most disappointing aspect of the film- the designer wardrobe does not reflect today’s runway stars.  Flaunted are classic (see: staid) names like Prada, Gucci, Pucci, D&G, and Christian Dior.

Missing from the costumes are designers I see pepper another “spoof” on the fashion media, MTV’s The Hills.  (It’s the spin-off of Laguna Beach- LC is an intern at Teen Vogue. It’s meant to be reality TV.)

Devil spawned trend or not, brown is a delicious color that has been intermixed with summer white.  Brown will transition into fall with the changing of the leaves.  Shop bluefly.com and eLuxury for the designers that REAL fashion assistants are coveting like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, and Fendi.

Best Seller: The Devil Wears Prada

Why: Today it’s #4 on The New York Times (paperback fiction) Best Seller List.  Don’t blame the success on the film’s opening, The Devil Wears Prada was on the hardcover bestseller list for six months.  Not bad stats for a debut novel and there’s more juice to it than the mundane NYT description: A young woman gets a job at a fashion magazine, and a difficult boss. This was Lauren Weisberger’s first novel.  Inspired (allegedly ) by Vogue‘s own Anna Wintour and Weisberger’s experience as a Condé Nasty.  Much of the novel was developed in a New York Writer’s Workshop class at The JCC Manhattan called “Publish Your Truth.”

It’s here.  Though it seems that everyone and their Jimmy Choos managed to sneak into a screening somewhere, today is the day of the Devil.  The reviews haven’t been as hot as the clothing. EW’s Lisa Schwarzbaum, not a big fan of anyone but Streep.  But c’mon, who can pan Meryl Streep? 

Every fashionista worth her gold card and walk-in closet has been foaming at her Dior red mouth to see the designer clad characters in what can only be described as a costume dramedy.

There are several pieces available, though at first glance I questioned the authenticity of the auction.  Any woman who would be interested in owning these incredible outfits would be leery of throwing down bank on a delicious black suit labeled “Donna Karen”.  Clearly editrix Miranda did NOT have a hand in the listing. The Devil Wears Prada is about the primo of the fashion media industry and the official charity auction mispells one of the most classic names in high-end career wear?  At least they didn’t mispell Prada.  But Premiere Props is on the up and up, the clothes come with certificates of authenticity.  Bid now on eBay.com.
