SheFinds Asks You: Toe Cleavage, Hot or Not?
Category: Embarrassing Fashion Rant and Rave Shoes
The Topic: Toe Cleavage
The Debate: Warm weather means a lot of things, and when it comes to fashion, mostly it means bearing more skin. From head to toe we start to let it all hang out, which is OK in moderation, but when you start getting cleavage in the wrong places, well, in my opinion, that’s just wrong.
Case in point: piggie crack. Nothing ruins a good pair of cute flats or sexy pumps like toe cleavage. I believe in this so strongly that no matter how fab a shoe looks on the shelves or how insanely great the sale price is, I simply won’t buy them. Even the thought of seeing those toes stuffed into a too-short-toe-box starts to make me shudder inside.
The Verdict: In my eyes toe cleavage is obviously never hot. How about you? Do you think it’s at least acceptable? Is there any problem showing off your cleavage or would you rather be caught dead than flaunt it? You decide. Post your comments below.

ew! I hate hate hate toe cleavage.... just like you, as soon as I see my toes peeking out from the toe box I WILL NOT buy them. Under no circumstances ever.
I've had a lot of people call me crazy, and say it's no big deal. But I hate it.
Unfortunately I have REALLY long, skinny toes. Not only are my feet a wopping size 10, my toes seem abnormally long, so I get toe cleavage in a lot more shoes than most people would. Makes shoe buying hard!
By Caz on 2007 03 28
Toe cleavage was an even worse idea than bubble hems.
By Vyque on 2007 03 28
I think toe clevage is very cute! Strangely enough, I think looking at toes is gross... but toe clevage is a cute little accessory to adorable/sexy shoes.
By Michele on 2007 03 28
no no no! i actually read somewhere a while ago (more than a year) that it was "in/acceptable" and i was shocked! I think it makes your shoes seem like they don't fit and that you have fat feet. It sounds so strange, but I’m just so against it! I say no to the toe cleavage!
By katie on 2007 03 28
What? Where are you people from, Kansas City?!?!
By Michele on 2007 03 28
I love toe cleavage! It doesn't work for every shoe (like the one picture), but for certain shoes it makes a nice detail.
By Whitney on 2007 03 28
This is ridiculous. Leave it to a bunch of women to come up with something absurd to give other women to worry about. If a woman has nice feet, she shouldn't have to worry about something as trivial as toe cleavage. Sheesh.
By Bunny on 2007 03 28
Definitely not hot. I have never found the "peep toe" designs remotely attractive. They ruin the line of the foot with the rest of an outfit. As a person who builds my outfits starting with my shoes, it's really important that I have smooth silhouettes, so it's an all-or-nothing deal when it comes to toe-showing.
By Di on 2007 03 28
I detest toe cleavage. What does it have to do with Kansas City?
By ginger on 2007 03 29
My point about 'Kansas City' is that a little bit of a peeping toe does not appear ugly to those of us living in large metropolis' such as Chicago, NYC and LA. It's cute to us... its 'gross' to those of you living in back-hoe cities....
By Michele on 2007 03 29
I live in a "large metropolis." I grew up in Chicago. I still think peep toes are in poor taste. I'm a fashionista, not a fashion slave.
Living in a large city in no way gives you fashion authority, and shame on you for inferring people are "hicks" from "back hoe cities" because they disagree with you - by the way, the "winking" does not make the rudeness OK.
Your opinion is still just an opinion and just one opinion, no matter where you live. Same for you, same for me.
By Di on 2007 03 29
i don't like toe cleavage - i prefer to let it all hang out in the summer - flip flops, a great pedicure with fab bright toe color but then i design flip flops so that they take advantage of the feet.
By sparkle on 2007 03 29
That picture is hideous! However, big toe and the next toe cleavage is ok, just not very much and only in high heels.
By Shelley on 2007 03 29
This debate is absolutely hilarious to me, since I have "syndactyly" (webbed toes, present in 1 out of every 2500 babies)on
two toes of each foot. No option of toe cleavage here...I don't have any! I really don't think it pretty when I see toe cleavage in others (and I live in the small town of Los Angeles), but, do what you want(after all, I live in Los Angeles!).
By Jeune on 2007 03 29
I hate it. That picture makes me crazy.
By Girl con Queso on 2007 03 29
Michele, if you didn't personally like toe cleavage, you would probably spin it another way than "back-hoe city" girls are not as chic as gals from metro areas. Come on now, your #### stinks, too.
I don't even really care that much about showing a little toe. I do care when people are so stereotypical that they insult themselves in the process of degrading others.
By ginger on 2007 03 30
i agree with bunny, if you have nice feet, toe cleavage is fine. personally, i think toe cleavage is sexy, and that shoes that cover the cleavage look matronly.
By jennine on 2007 03 31
I like toe cleavage! It looks terrible on the shoes pictured they don't fit right. It's too loose around the toe box.
By cats on 2007 03 31
It depends on the shoe, the person, what they are wearing, and their age. For instance, on a 70 year old wearing heels (like in the above picture) and a pinstripe suit - NOT ACCEPTABLE AND TOTALLY GROSS. But for a 20 year old wearing louboutins and a mini-dress CUTE AND FLIRTY.
By jenny on 2007 04 01
Good grief. Do you people realize you are bantering back and forth about toe cleavage? TOE CLEAVAGE. This is a concept made up by women, about women, to add to the never-ending list of things we think we need to worry about. Excuse the pun, but put your best foot forward and call it a day. And stop criticizing other women -- we are our own worst enemies.
By AreYouKidding? on 2007 04 01
Toe cleavage is so cute (although the picture is clearly of shoes that don't fit). It can really highlight a good pair of shapely feat. As for AreYouKidding's comment, toe cleavage is about aesthetics, and fashion is about caring about that. Having a debate is not the same as criticising other women - having an opinion does not make a person misogynist.
By scarlettholly on 2007 04 01
Toe cleavage is sexy as hell with the right shoes and the right woman.
It's just another glimpse.........
By Mags on 2007 04 04
There is nothing more sexy than toe cleavage whether it be high heel pumps or flats.
By Muffy on 2007 04 18
From a man's point of view....this can be very, very sexy...just be sure that "the shoe fits" and are well maintained....nothing worse than beat up shoes and a foot bulging out like a baloon...
By Hunter Craig on 2007 04 18
I'm a guy from NYC and I think toe cleavage is very sexy, is a preview of cute feets.
By Jay on 2007 05 18
I'm so turned on now.
By Klyde on 2007 05 18
I have a strong preference FOR toe cleavage. If you're not comfortable with it then don't do it. Leave it to those who are into it and when us gawkers say something like "Nice shoes" with a smile and maybe a wink, it won't be to you and you won't be getting offended by it.
By Anomynous on 2007 05 19
Oh my god. You are so wrong about this. There is nothing better than a shoe that shows toes.
It's sexy as hell.
Girls, please buy these shoes.
In fact, as a general rule, the more foot exposed, the better.
By Joe on 2007 05 20
EWW THATS SO FRIGGIN' NASTY! thats weird I wouldn't buy shoes that she toe cleavege unless they're open toed! thats sooooooooooooooooo bad looking if they bought those shoes they must have been blind!
By OHEMGE! on 2007 05 20
I'm seeing so much more of this now that it's warming up.
By SheFinds on 2007 05 24
I know most guys probably couldn't care less about this, aside than those who are really into feet, but it really bugs me! I have no problem with feet, or open toe shoes, but when you see the cleevage sticking out above a closed toe shoe it just looks like the shoe fits wrong! It's like wearing jeans way too small and having you wiast bulge over the top! NOT sexy!
By M@ on 2007 06 06
Here in Miami a little sexy toe cleavage with our Choo's is quite the norm, and no we don't wear hose either!
By Beth on 2007 06 12
I love women in heels and I have to say that toe cleavage is 'off the charts' sexy!
By = ) on 2007 06 21
As a man who appreciates beautiful women and a lovely pair of feet, nothing, and I mean nothing makes me melt or grow weak in the knees like seeing a sexy pair of flats or heels showing a generous amount of toe cleavage. It is an extreme turn-on for me. A huge thank you to all you ladies out there who wear these kind of shoes - when I see you (which isn't often enough), you completely make my day! Ladies, these shoes will make men beg for you!
By Michael on 2007 06 22
I'm glad it's not just me that's noticed this recently, and enjoyed looking, I think it's quite a sexy glimpse and I'm not really a foot man, I'm not turned on by stilettos or sandals for example.
By A Nonny Mouse on 2007 08 08
I intensely dislike toe cleavage. Apart from toes already being way too ugly, it's just plain disturbing.
By Sarah on 2007 08 16
who cares?
By me on 2007 08 25
From a guy point of view, toe cleavage is a must for a nice pair of shoes, for me an instant turn on, thanx to those girls out there that are wearing closed shoes that show a little glimpse of the toes, and no hose please...
By kinghook on 2007 08 27
Toes and toe cleavage are very sexy!! Yum!!
By Leg and foot lover on 2007 08 27
Oh yeah -- well-planned or unintentional, cleavage of any kind is an invitation to exploration -- on someone who merits such thoughts -- by someone who knows what's worth looking for -- but this exchange is mostly about neuroses, isn't it?
By Anon/Anon Sir!! on 2007 08 28
I feel that toe cleavage can be very sexy. For instance, I seen a very attractive lady recently and she was wearing stiletto heels that revealed toe cleavage. She caught me looking at her feet and gave me a little smile in appreciation, I think. To me it can also be mystifying. "What color polish does she possibly have on her toes", as I am a very strong foot fetish person. I also have a crush-fetish and wondered , "what she could do to a bug under those stiletto's".
By Rick on 2007 08 28
Dude, they're TOES. Jeebs.
By bbbb on 2007 08 30
I love to show off my toe cleavage. Guys think it's sexy, i think it's sexy and practically most of my shoes a low cut, both flats and pumps. Love Them. Bye Janet
By Janet Stenman on 2007 10 16
Couldn't agree more with the recent comments... I LOVE toe cleavage on a girl. very sexy whether it be flats or heels.. Can't imagine why you would think its horrible??!
By Andy on 2007 10 31
I think toe cleavage looks cute as long as the tip of the shoe is rounded. Otherwise it's just kind of gross (like that picture... ick)
By Ashley on 2007 11 04
As a man, like pay attention to the litte details of what a women wears. Toe cleavage in pointed heels and flats are very attractive.
By Dressed on 2007 11 05
Toe cleavage, which is entirely different than "peep toe", is something I instantly found sexy. Low vamp, stiletto pumps are not only my favorite shoe to see on a woman(I hate flip flops) they are also the classiest. BTW, Michele, trust me, you're on to something with that K.C. comment.
By Alva on 2007 11 10
Toe cleavage is very sexy with the right shoe and person. I absolutely detest those really really pointy long in the toe shoes people are wearing these days, reminds me of witch shoes. I dunno why, just does. Anyway for those of you who have a big foot to begin with you have no idea how much BIGGER it makes your feet look! Seriously! Looks like pontoon's on your feet and if you're skiiny it really looks silly. I giggle every time. So see, there are worse things than toe cleavage
By Bren on 2007 11 15
I LOVE toe cleavage. I love feet. I love shoes. I love it when they work together to make a woman more attractive. I hope you wouldn't mind me staring at your toe cleavage, or would you rather I raise my sights to look for other cleavage. What I dislike intensely is butt cleavage from low cut jeans.
By shrimper on 2007 11 26
I love seeing a little toe cleavage in pumps, not the pointy toe ones, and in ballet flats.
By Robert on 2007 12 11
I really dislike toe cleavage. It looks like you have little deformed toe nubs sticking out. I want to stick things in between people's toes when I see it.
By Clara on 2007 12 30
I just purchased a pair of lovely blue Louboutin's (which I am unable to return) for my upcoming wedding. Its the Decolstrass style and I have toe cleavage on all toes and I'm wondering wether or not to even wear them. They do, however, fit perfectly. So what I got is that most men think its sexy and most women think its gross. DAMN! What should I do?!
By ladyx818 on 2008 01 10
I think a little toe showing looks great, but only if it's the big toe and the toe next to it.
By Marcella on 2008 02 04
The picture is most likely THE worst possible example that could have been used.
Look at http://toe-cleavage.blogspot.com/
If most of you don’t change your minds, then Claudia Schiffer, Ivanka Trump, Pam Anderson, Petra Nemcova, Hedi Blum Danica Patrick, Penelope Cruz, Maria Sharapova, Glen Stefani, and Scarlett Johansson who is considered by many as THE sexiest woman on the planet are all wrong? It’s an enticing image just as breast cleavage.
By kcimsan on 2008 03 06
I have mixed feelings about toe cleavage. I think it can look sexy WITH the right shoe but at the same time, it's unsettling. It's like a pimple, you just can't help but want to fix it or something.
By Diana on 2008 03 15
I think it's ultra sexy especially when you're in a conservative work environment and forced to wear closed shoes. Just a teasing hint of what's under the shoe. I love my long, sexy toes and wish I could bare them all at work!
By DD on 2008 04 01
Clara-
What does your man think about the shoes? Who are you trying to impress?
All-
Why do you women care what other women think about your feet/shoes/whatever? Do you value their impression of you over your own self-worth? Wear what you like with confidence.
By SCMI on 2008 04 02
Who sells low cut vamp shoes that show toe cleavage in the US that doesn't charge a bizillion $ per pair?
