Setting Planning Meetings

It's essential to choose a maid of honor who has time to spare and who is also super organized. Maids of honor can make their lives, and their fellow bridesmaids' lives, a whole lot easier by scheduling planning meetings together. This is so much easier than constantly flooding each other's phones with texts. You can even create a Facebook group or a Pinterest board to share the best bridal shower and bachelorette party tips at one single place.

Factoring In Expenses

Maids of honor should also remember to factor in the expenses of being a bridesmaid. The costs of dresses, showers, parties, and more, really start to add up. It's important to talk out budgets with fellow bridesmaids so that everyone can get an idea of how much they'll be spending on the wedding in total. This is especially crucial for when bridesmaids are different ages or are in different financial situations.

Throwing A Bridal Shower

Every bride needs a bridal shower-- unless she has already told you not to plan one. Bridal showers don't necessarily need to be an extravagant event. Maids of honor and bridesmaids can also always ask the bride who she would like to attend, and if she has anything special in mind for what kind of location or theme she would like for her special day before the big day.

Throwing A Bachelorette Party

In addition to the bridal shower, you may also have to plan a bachelorette party. After the bride gets all of her home essentials it's time for actual fun. Of course you should keep in mind of the budgets for both the shower and bachelorette party so you're not just scraping by!

Bustling The Bride's Dress

Another duty that maids of honor might not be aware they have is learning how to bustle the bride's dress. Maids of honor should be attending most, if not all of the bride's dress fittings, and that's where she can learn how to bustle! Lots of bridal dress shops make this process super easy, but you'll be better at it the more you practice.

Giving A Speech At The Reception

In the midst of all the wedding planning, maids of honor should also remember that they might be expected to make a speech at the wedding reception. Maids of honor can always ask the bride if she wants to follow this tradition so that they're prepared and ready to go on the big day.

Being The Bride's Go-To Person

On top of it all, you should always be the bride's go-to gal both before her wedding day and on the big day as well. You're her shoulder to cry on, stress reliever, and best friend. In addition to emotional support, you should be there with an emergency kit filled with wedding day essentials. Some items you should pack include pain reliever, a mini sewing kit, tissues, mints, and blotting sheets!
