Exclusive! Expectant Mom Ali Landry Dishes About Her Second Pregnancy and Becoming the New Face... Err, Belly... Of Palmer's Pregnancy Skin Care
September 12, 2011
You may remember her as the Doritos girls, but over the last few months we’ve come to know model/actress Ali Landry as one of the most stylish moms-to-be in Hollywood. Ali Landry is pregnant and we love following her maternity style. We’ve also secretly been wondering her secret to staying so gorgeous during her pregnancy.
Turns out it’s Palmer’s. Ali is the new face–make that, belly–of the brand’s pregnancy and stretch mark line. We chatted with her exclusively about her beauty regimen and what pregnancy has been like the second time around.
Why did you decide to team up with Palmer’s?
I was always a huge fan of Palmer’s. I would always notice the ads with the gorgeous celebs baring their bellies in the magazines for the Palmer’s no stretch mark cocoa butter line, so I was like I really need to get on these products when I get pregnant again. So when I did happen to get pregnant this time, I started using the products and I started talking to Palmer’s. And this is a whole new formulation of the stretch mark line–they have new ingredients.
What’s your pregnancy beauty routine?
The way I do it is I layer the products. I use the coca butter massage lotion for stretch marks all over, every day. And at night, I use the Tummy Butter, which is like your intense moisture. I use that in the stretch mark prone areas. During the day, just for extra moisture in those same areas, I use the massage cream on top of the lotion. The price point is s great, you can get really afford to get them all.
This is your second pregnancy, so you’re like a pro now. Is there anything you recommend moms-to-be do to feel beautiful?
I think it’s all about taking care of yourself, taking those small steps to pamper yourself. You have a miracle growing inside of you and this is the one time you should just stop and smell the roses. Really just take time to listen to your body, exercise, keep yourself moving, keep yourself hydrated and take care of your skin. I’m all about giving into cravings, but it’s also important to eat foods your body really needs to keep your energy up. It’s really a balance.
Okay you have to be honest–what was it like to bare your belly?
The truth is I kept looking down at my stomach and I couldn’t believe I was standing in front of maybe 50 people. I was like I don’t even do this as my non-pregnant self. I think only my husband and my child and my doctor have seen my belly. So here I am–in white, no less–on a set dancing with a big belly. I felt like it was growing by the second. But with my belly out it was so liberating. It definitely took a little bit of an adjustment, but once I got into the groove it was amazing.
You’re in the home stretch of your second pregnancy–how are you feeling?
I have so many different feelings. I feel like with my first pregnancy I wasn’t this busy. I had just finished a television show and I was on the road promoting a film. So I was with my husband and we were just kind of enjoying ourselves. I really took the time to enjoy the pregnancy and I was just in la la land. For this one, I’ve been so busy. But the pregnancy has been really incredible. And I think something else that has been a little difficult for me is that my husband has been on location shooting a film so I’ve sort of had to psych myself up to go through it. It’s been a little tough, but it’s me and my daughter and we give my husband updates. It’s definitely different this time around.
Do you feel like your little girl is ready to be a big sister?
I think she is. She acts like she is very excited. She says she’s going to be my little helper. And she knows that my husband is away working so it’s her and I. So I try to explain to her that the baby is going to sleep a lot and cry a lot and that she’s going to have to help me entertain the baby. But she’s had all the attention for four year, so I think there might be a little bit of jealousy.
Do you know if you’re having a boy or a girl?
We do know, but we’re really not saying because we haven’t told all of our family and friends. So we’re keeping it a surprise for them.
