One-Shoulder Tops That Won’t Leave You Feeling Half Dressed

Asymmetrical or one shoulder tops tend to go in one of two directions: retro/classy or Flashdance/tacky, and we’ll admit we’re sometimes tempted to give the trend (forgive us) the cold shoulder. When done correctly, the look is sexy and playful, so we searched high and low for the best ones. The result: five subtle versions that strike a nice balance between baring, daring and tastefully covered:

This Asos Drapey One-Shoulder Top ($37.06) is a perfect Autumnal plum–and it’s pretty hard to argue with the pricetag.

Another bargain: this simple black tunic-style Alloy One-Shoulder Top ($19.90) is the perfect base for any outfit. Dress it down with a sheer cardigans and skinny jeans, or up with statement jewelry.

Organic designer Bassike has come up with this Bassike Organic Cotton One-Shoulder top ($165) that looks awesome with both destroyed skinnies and (we think) a pencil skirt, a wide belt and pumps.

For a cheaper, more casual take, look no further than this Topshop Asymmetric One Shoulder top ($44). It just begs for leggings and lace-up combat boots.

Thanks to Gatwick Glow, a new spray-tan salon located in the Gatwick Airport in London, travelers can receive a free St Tropez spray tan as part of a study being conducted by the airport. The study set out to determine how travelers felt about going on vacation with pale skin versus tan. The results are in and the truth is in the tan – after misting, everybody (especially men) felt more confident to show off their bodies – beach ready or not. Sorry Lindsay and Snooki, but we’d rather use self-tanners, not fake-and-bake beds.

Jessica Szohr has been a subject of my fashion envy before, and it’s with mixed emotions that I bring an outfit I wouldn’t otherwise put together – but that looks so bright and summery on Jessica, I need to replicate it. The look – a skittle-rainbow colored confection of tribal prints, oversized bangles and bright blue wedges shows how the summer’s hot ikat and tribal trend can be worn in everyday life (if you’d like, go for just the top, bottom or a dress instead of mixing and matching all):

Justin Timberlake may have once poked fun at Target on Saturday Night Live as an elderly lady with a neck brace, (see photo below) but now he’s signed up for a William Rast for Target collaboration come winter. Available December 19-January 22, the women’s and men’s lines will feature premium denim, outerwear and sportswear.

Add it to your holiday wish list–maybe if you’re lucky, they’ll be featured in Target holiday pop up stores earlier than the launch date like Rodarte for Target was last year.

She clearly picked up some tips along the way, because she showed up at the premiere of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World this week in this very bold, but very chic pairing of a blue leopard strapless mini and canary yellow pumps. Let’s try to make re-create the magic here:

Linda Farrow’s vintage sunglasses are my favorites, and with good reason: the line was relaunched a few years back after her son discovered an attic full of never-worn sunglasses from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Since the line, and its A-List collaborations (think Matthew Williams), are always on our radar, we’re super excited to show you photos of the upcoming Linda Farrow for The Row collaboration. The mini mogul Olsens have been spotted in super round and extreme cat eye styles, and come this fall, you can get a pair too:
