Hey Dad, Here's a Hint: Mom Doesn't Want Flowers for Mother's Day
April 25, 2011
Flowers are beautiful and yes they make the house look and smell great, but let’s be real: no mom really wants flowers for Mother’s Day.
Flowers make a nice “just because” gift, but on a day set aside to celebrate and honor mom, I’m guessing she doesn’t want a vase of blooms that she will have to cut and water and tend to until they, well, die.
I know it’s grim, but I’m a mom and I for sure do not want flowers this Mother’s Day. I don’t mean to make us moms sound unappreciative, but if you’re going to spend your money, better to spend it something the recipient will actually like, right?
So skip the flowers this year and check out our guide to personalized jewelry for moms. A nice initial necklace or charm bracelet will last longer than flowers, plus it will be pretty reminder of her favorite job… being mom.
Is there anything else you definitely don’t want for Mother’s Day? Chocolate (hello, summer’s coming)? IOUs? Breakfast in bed? Share what Mother’s Day gifts you despise in the comments.
