Interesting But Unnecessary: Butt Cleavage Panties

We’ve been alerted to an odd new trend that frankly, I wouldn’t have even thought of if TrendHunter hadn’t pointed it out. It’s about butt cleavage, and we’re not talking about that peek of posterior you get after gaining a pound or two and pulling on those low-rise jeans. No, this is butt cleavage of a very purposeful sort.

There’s a whole spectrum of backside-revealing styles now on the market. Brides-to-be can reach for the Bridal Bonds Panty Set ($25), boy shorts with a white lace inset that come with matching “wrist restraints,” and the couture addict should check out these silk corset knickers from Damaris ($159.60).  For a more classic cut, Milien’s aptly named “Crack in the Back” panties ($38) feature a simple cutout in the back.

On the far end of the aforementioned spectrum lie backless panties ($10-$13), which do away with backside fabric completely and are held up by a band underneath your bottom.

Call me old fashioned, but I live somewhere in the realm of these Drawstring Bikini Panties ($4) – and if that tiny keyhole in the back makes me a buttless panty prude, so be it.

I’m sure I am not this blog’s average demographic, being 35 and all, but I have a 5 year old girl - I’m already telling her to pull up her pants all the time.

Having fashionistas showing off butt cleavage is just one more thing that makes me think the world has gone crazy.

And the backless panties - well that’s just wrong wrong wrong. Oops - I meant oh so classy.

I don’t want to see anyone’s butt cleavage if I don’t have to.

    bleh.

I guess I’ll inject a man’s point of view on this topic. I can say from experience as well as numerous sources that ‘butt cleavage’ is a turn-on for men and in fact it is one of the earliest turn-ons for young boys growing up in the public school system.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that the bum, as with the breasts and vagina (or general pubic region), are areas that we are told from a young age are taboo and will probably never see until our first sexual experience. But in order of “What is most likely to ’slip’” in front of the eyes of our young males, the obvious first would be the bum crack and this due entirely to the advent of low-rise jeans.

Now I am not saying that the ‘crack’ was not coveted in prior generations but speaking as a 23 year old male I cannot attest to that fact. So have low-rise jeans led to a new main-stream fetish? It would appear so but as for whether or not it will have the staying power of breast cleavage (which incidentally is slightly less likely to amaze adults simply due to its widespread prevalence) is hard to say.

My best guess is that the world, becoming so violently ill after the likes of britney spears et al. will subletly revert to a more conservative look with the coming generation and thus the ‘butt-cleavage’ will once again become a piece of private eroticism between two lovers in the bedroom. My personal opinion is that these are sexy much like most other lingerie items out there but as with lingerie in general it isn’t something I would want to become a part of our every day attire.

i’ll just go ahead and say it; showing off the ass cleavage sends particular signals about various forms of kinky sex. i respect that and, i suspect, most men would oblige. i’ll take my abuse off the air.

Sad — trendhunter took it from a post I did on June 26th (and then put a tiny tiny link at the bottom of the page)

I think it is okay as long as the woman isn’t very overweight or just has a nasty look to her. I myself am a little on the heavier side so I am not about to gross people with butt cleavage.
