Katie Holmes Makes A Statement About Leah Remini's Shift Away From Scientology
October 30, 2015
Katie Holmes responded to the drama sparked by Leah Remini‘s decision to leave Scientology.
In the upcoming 20/20 interview, Remini comments on the time she encountered Tom Cruise kissing Holmes throughout the night, which was later written up and reported to the Church of Scientology. Remini explains that this incident is known as a “knowledge report”, which is a common Scientologist practice. Even when family members and married couples are involved, these knowledge tests serve to help the church “regulate itself.”
Holmes responded to 20/20’s request for comment saying, “I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future.” Holmes’ publicist also responded with, “In response to an email sent from the producers or fact-checkers from 20/20 asking a plethora of questions, we supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response.” Then, Holmes’ publicist confirmed, “Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage, and this quote was provided through her publicist.”
Long story short: Holmes cleared the air with Leah Remini, but let’s see what happens when Remini releases her book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood And Scientology, next Tuesday, November 3rd.
