This cookbook has been around a few yeas, but if you didn’t have children when it first came outyou may not have noticed it. It definitely deserves a spot on your bookshelf, though.

Why We Love It: Because this book is organized by seasons, you don’t have to stop and think about what vegetables are currently at their best, or what fruit is currently astronomical since it’s out of season. Flip to summer to see a simple barbecue chicken recipe, or find a pureed butternut squash soup in fall. The ingredients and techniques are great for beginners, but the recipes are sophisticated enough for dinner parties at the same time.
