Once And For All, Where Should You ACTUALLY Be Applying Highlighter?

Few products have the potential to work quite as much magic as highlighter does. However, this must-have makeup product can also be a double-edged sword. It’s easy to get a little carried away (it’s so pretty after all!) and end up looking somewhat like a disco ball. In order to avoid shine overload, you should only be applying highlighter to a select few places. Generally speaking, it’s anywhere the light would hit you naturally to create flattering shine.
There’s no denying that contouring has been HUGE lately – so this is probably the most obvious place to put highlighter, as it creates the illusion of sharper cheekbones. Just make sure to only apply it to the tops of your cheekbones (the part that juts out when you suck in your cheeks). Bronzer, not highlighter, should go in the hollows of your cheekbones if you’re going for a contoured look.
To accentuate your arches, place three dots of liquid highlighter, like Benefit High Beam ($26), directly underneath the outer half of your eyebrows and blend with your fingers or a small brush.
A small amount of highlighter applied in a vertical line down the tip of your nose will give the effect of a slimmer nose. Be sure to blend well, avoiding the sides of your nose.
The center of your top lip (a.k.a. your cupid’s bow) is an amazing place to add a teeny dab of highlighter to create the effect of fuller lips!
Inner eye corners
If you want to add mega impact while still keeping your eye makeup to a minimum, dab highlighter into the corners of your eyes – it majorly wakes up your face and is super flattering when it comes to banishing under eye bags.
When it comes to highlighter, a little goes a long way – use it sparingly!
