Ray-Ban Just Changed The Sunglasses Game With Denim, Leather & Velvet Styles
May 15, 2014
Tonight, Ray-Ban will debut their new materials collection, and once you see it, a pair (or two) will definitely be instantly added to your summer wish list. This season, the brand gave some of their most classic sunglasses, like the Wayfarer, Aviator, and Erika, a new look by releasing each of them in materials like leather, velvet, or denim.
The Wayfarer will be done in layered denim, black and brown calf leather, and 6 different camouflage color combos. The Aviator that we know and love will be redesigned in laser cut steel with different flash frame options. While the Wayfarer and the Aviator will take on a raw rugged look, the Erika, which has already been released in select colors, was given a girlier look with the addition of screen printed velvet. The Erika Velvet Sunglasses ($135) are available in blue, black and red now, with purple and yellow to follow. But, velvet is not completely new to Ray-Ban. The brand released the Youngster Square Velvet Sunglasses ($115) in “flock” brodeaux, green, and blue earlier this year.
Some Ray-Ban opticals will also be updated in the New Materials collection like the Light Way Hinge Frames, which will be done in 100% titanium alloy, and the Clubmaster frame available in black, silver, bronze, and gunmetal aluminum.
The entire collection, which will range in price from $135 to $300, will be released periodically throughout the summer, so you better keep an eye out, because theses are bound to sell out fast. The first to be released, aside from the Erika’s, are the leather frames, which will make their first appearance in early June. Don’t worry, we’ll be watching too.
And if you don’t want to wait to get your hands on the new materials collection, try these velvet shades on for size. You know you want them.
