3. The Washington Post has picked up on Michelle Obama’s fondness for quirky Italian brand Moschino, and notes the company has not aggressively touted the affiliation in order not to brag.  In our opinion, we love that the First Lady’s style quietly mixes up foreign influences with domestic designers. [TWP]

4. (One of) Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s children, Georgia May, is following in her mother’s footsteps – the celeb-spawn-turned-model may be up for a contract with Versace.  Having very recently become the face of Rimmel and Hudson Jeans, we’re interested to see her turn up marketing more festive attire. [Elle UK]

4. Expect holiday marketing to tug at your heartstrings; retailers will be going the warm and fuzzy route this season to try to lure customers.  We suppose you could metaphorically embody this new tactic by sporting some faux fur.  [WWD]

Steve Madden to work with Olsenboye

sarah jessica parker in morocco

1. Sarah Jessica Parker’s signature Carrie style and the crew of the upcoming Sex and the City sequel have been spotted filming in Marrakesh.  We wonder what the girls are up to outside of New York and Paris, but figure they’re still wearing the most stylish shoes ever in those souks, so it’s okay. Lara Stone To Be The New Creepy, Irridescent Face of Louis Vuitton?

Lara StoneMadonna for Louis Vuitton

WWD just reported the rumor that Dutch model Lara Stone will take over for Madonna as the face of Louis Vuitton. The Queen of Pop looked a tad ghoulish in her recent LV campaigns, if you ask me, so maybe it’s best they move on to a new look.  But could the choice of Stone, who’s famous for being a size six (oh my) have anything to do with all the bruhaha over too-thin runway models and Brigitte’s announcement that it will now feature real women? Who knows, but either way, we dig Stone’s sultry style.

KAIN long sleeve pocket teebdg knit skirt

You may not be able to get Lara’s bod with just the click of your mouse, but you can certainly get her look with BDG’s knit skirt and this sheer long sleeve pocket tee. As for Madonna’s Vuitton ensemble, we’ll leave the animal ears to the Olsen twins.

Not into these picks? We’ve got more mini skirts to choose from and while you’re at it, pick out a fun pair of high heeled boots.

News: Michael Kors Will Be Doing Your Makeup, Victoria Beckham May Design Handbags, And More

Michael Kors to create cosmetics with Estee Lauder

We Didn’t Think It Was Possible, But W Magazine Manages To Make Online Shopping Hard

WWD reports that the bright minds at W (those who didn’t get laid off this week, that is) have hatched a plan to revive the struggling fashion magazine. In 2010, they’ll release two themed issues, one of which will be “100 percent shop-able.”

w magazine november issue

Here’s W’s brilliant plan:

1. Everything in the book is for sale

2. The reader takes a photo of the page with the item they want

3. They upload it to their computer

4. Then they email it to the magazine

5. Next, the happy shopper receives an email with a link to buy.

If you’re wondering what the folks at W are smoking, so are we. The magazine industry really is behind the times if they think this is an easier way to shop.

Personally, I’d be embarrassed to take a photo of a magazine, even if I was alone. So, let’s take W’s shopping game for a test run, shall we? Here are two magazine-worthy items we love, a gorgeous cheetah print sheath by Tory Burch and a luscious faux fur jacket from Lauren by Ralph Lauren. Will you be whipping out your camera to take a snapshot of your computer screen? Somehow we think not.

Luckily, in 2009, buying is actually as easy as clicking your mouse, so score autumn trends by clicking away at our guides to the best wrap dresses, faux fur, and fall shoes.

Saks Joins The Flasher Crowd

Saks FashionFIx flash sales

Saks Fifth Avenue wants to keep up with the times, and one way to do that is to get in on the flash sale action, à la Gilt, Rue La La, and many other online sample sale sites.  The department store giant held its first private online sales event, called “FashionFix,” which was accessible only through Saks’ email newsletter (you can sign up at the bottom of Saks’ homepage).

Quickie online designer sales seem to be getting billed as the wave of the shopping future.  We love anything that gets us handbags and denim at a steal of a price, so we certainly hope the trend keeps up.  In the meantime, be sure to check all your favorite online sample sale haunts on a regular basis in order not to miss anything – these deals often disappear in the blink of an eye.

News: Gaga Gets Accessories Approval, Versace Might Make Like Condé And Cut Workforce, And More

Lady Gaga to receive stylemaker award

1. Lady Gaga is going to be honored for her crazy look, and will be receiving a Stylemaker Award from the Accessories Council Excellence Awards on Monday.  We suppose this means you should pick up the craziest necklace and brooch you can find, and then don’t take them off. [Elle UK]

2. Twenty-five percent isn’t just a magic number for Condé Nast; Versace’s new CEO will also probably cut about 350 jobs, or 25% of the company’s workforce.  We wonder how this will affect the production of outré cocktail dresses.  [WWD]

3. Just in case you forgot, Kate Moss’ Christmas Topshop collection goes on sale today.  Apparently the supermodel loves pajamas, so get ready to get cozy. [InStyle UK]

4. The colorful British line Boden, already something of a cult brand in the UK, has plans to expand in the U.S. and Germany.  In case you prefer a quieter look, shop our guide to the best cardigans to get a toned-down version of the style. [Daily Mail]

News: No Rescue Yet For Lacroix, H and M May Soon Be Coming To A Town Near You, And More

lacroix not yet rescued

1. The bid to save Christian Lacroix’s fashion house is delayed by the French tribunal overseeing the proceedings.  We hope they don’t completely block the rescue of Lacroix’s artful cocktail dresses. [Vogue UK]

2. H & M has plans to expand in the U.S., particularly in the South.  Hey South Carolina, get ready for more trendy fast fashion in the form of skinny jeans and affordable handbags. [WWD]

3. Jimmy Choo has partnered with Sir Elton John to create a range of accessories to launch and benefit Project PEP, a center for those exposed to HIV and AIDS in South Africa.  If carrying a designer handbag helps someone else, then well done. [Telegraph]

4. Over in Britain, the Union Jack is suddenly everywhere, including on clothing. It may not be our flag, but that doesn’t mean its spread to the back of denim jackets on this side of the pond isn’t inevitable, anyway.  [Guardian]
