As we noticed on last night's episode of The Fashion Show, you can use belts to cinch waists on summer dresses and work-appropriate weekday outfits.

This belt ’s ($126, was $180) neutral color is easy to pair with anything.

Episode 5 of The Fashion Show opened with some mini-challenge trickery where designers had to create a sketch from memory. After staring at one of Isaac's Fall 2009 pieces hanging on a dress form, Kelly walked in and out of the room before the challenge began. Only, the challenge was Kelly (so tricky, Bravo!). The group had to sketch what Kelly wore.

After complaining that she barely saw anything, Daniella won the challenge and the chance to choose one designer that would be in the bottom three. Merlin was shaking in his red mini boots.

The elimination challenge gave every designer a real woman (aka, not a size zero model) and the task of creating an outfit that would highlight her assets while improving on her perceived problem areas. This really hit home when we saw the designers padding their dress forms with hips, butts, bellies, and breasts.

James-Paul was beside himself at having to design for someone with body fat. His actual quote was, “It's like asking Jesus Christ to work with Satan.” A bit dramatic, but he wasn't alone in his dismay.

Daniella burst into tears at how stuck she was in her design. When she complained that she had never designed for big women (her real model was a size 14), Isaac called her sizeist. Ouch! Still, she managed to put out a flattering navy and black jacket/dress combo that got raves from the fashion show audience (buy it here, $325).

And the bottom three pick? Angel. Bad tailoring got her there, but Keith's boring prom dress design was much worse than a messy hem and caused him to be sent home.

Daniella's outfit worked because of the belt. (And, she's not alone. Five other designers used belts or waist contrast to create a silhouette.) This Ann Taylor Cotton Twill Tuck Dress ($60, was $130) uses tucks at the waist and a big elastic belt to draw attention to the smallest part of the waist.

We saw lots of metallic accessories at Fashion Week, which was probably a sign of things to come, since they’re popping up on spring-y extras for the season to come.

These Roberto Cavalli heels ($330, were $654) would add a little sex appeal to just about anything, and we like the sleek finish and darker color.

Wear a gold braided belt ($9.50, was $12.50) to cinch a chiffon dress to channel a bohemian look or wrap it around a fitted black number for a glamorous night option.

This snakeskin-embossed envelope clutch ($68) is big enough to comfortably fit the essentials.

An easy-to-wear version of the gladiator trend, Bernardo’s Mars flats ($115) are a good choice with easy weekend dresses or beach-y maxis.

The clean shape of this Rebecca Minkoff satchel ($550) does well carrying off allover gold.

The latest Michelle Obama fashion decision involved a python buckled belt wrapped around a chocolate brown cardigan. First Lady in python? We at SheFinds have to say, while several of you may disagree with the sartorial choices of our new First Lady, we applaud the fact that this woman can confidently meet and greet a group from the Department of Education wearing snakeskin. Out with the old and in with the fierce and fabulous new. Although we haven't yet pinpointed the designer (we're guessing Dolce & Gabbana or maybe even Banana Republic!), we will keep you posted. As a curvy girl and a formerly very large woman, I have literally been hiding in oversized clothes for years. Here’s a tip from me to you and it doesn’t matter if you have lost weight, will never lose weight, or are just a fabulous girl with dangerous curves: big baggy clothes make you look bigger than you are. A defined waist and clothes that fit your body no matter what your size will always make you look thinner and much more put-together. Oversized = sloppy. Period.

My resolution is to throw away all the baggy items and to start wearing clothes that fit. Note that I said “fit,” which is not the same as “tight.” One of the best items in any woman’s wardrobe is a fitted black blazer, which I can throw over pretty much anything. Belts have now become my friend. Buy a belt that fits and it will make you look like a total rock star. This Tory Burch Wooden Square Belt ($105, was $175), can be worn with jeans, over sweaters and dresses, and the cutest look ever: over the black blazer.

Last but not least, I am a denim addict but I cannot rock the boyfriend jean. I’m too voluptuous for that and I look like I rolled out of bed and am heading to Freshman English. My personal favorites for fit right now are my PRVCY Barbados Straight Leg Jeans ($208.) They fit like a dream and give me the illusion of the skinny jean but are way more comfortable.
