The CFDA & eBay’s New Bags Will Make You Never Want To ‘Fake’ It Again

Sally was right when she told Harry that most women at one time or another have faked it. Whether it was accidentally or on purpose, chances are you've probably used a fake handbag before. Well, here's your chance to atone for your sins--the Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay have teamed up (again) to protest counterfeit merchandise through their “You Can’t Fake Fashion” campaign. They commissioned 90 designers--including the likes of Parabal Gurung, Diane von Furstenberg and Alice + Olivia--to create original handbags for the project. The embellished bags will be sold on eBay at a starting price of $100. You can also buy the standard, non-designer tote for the "buy it now" price of $50. This is the 3rd collaboration between the CDFA and eBay  for the "You Can't Fake Fashion" campaign (check out the handbags from 2012 and 2011). What do you think of this year's bags? Click through the slideshow to see all of totes from the campaign. Then, support your favorite designers by shopping the bags on eBay this Monday, March 18 at 12pm (EST).  For more fashion news, check out handbags by Mackage, Iris Apfel’s new sunglasses for Eyebobs and Stella & Dot's upcoming handbag line.

Mark Your Calendars: Joseph Altuzarra For J. Crew Will Come Out “In A Few Weeks”

This is big: CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Joseph Altuzarra just confessed to Fashionista that his anticipated collection for J.Crew is happening -- and soon. The collaboration isn't much of a surprise— in fact, it's kind of a fashion fund given, considering past collabs with CFDA finalists Prabal Gurung, Eddie Borgo, and Billy Reid— but we're excited nonetheless. Altuzarra said: So we worked on a collaboration. Which I think will be coming out in a few weeks. A few weeks?! Our brains are buzzing with ideas of what the line might look like: sporty-inspired pieces covered in Hawaiian prints (a la the designer's collection for spring/summer) or more military-style tailored garments from his recently showcased fall/winter collection. Only time will tell! For those that would like to get their hands on the latest CFDA collaboration NOW, shop eBay's 'You Can't Fake Fashion' handbags. You (Still) Can’t Fake Fashion: Get A Sneak Of The Latest CFDA/eBay Totes

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and online retail powerhouse eBay have come together once again to protest counterfeit merchandise through their "You Can't Fake Fashion" campaign, the second round of which hits online next Tuesday. Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA said: The CFDA works to protect designers’ intellectual property, and fighting counterfeits is a critical issue to CFDA, eBay and the fashion industry at large. We continue to collaborate with eBay on this bold campaign to educate shoppers on the dangers of counterfeits, raise awareness of our mutual dedication to the fight against fakes and emphasize the importance of original design. 75 iconic American designers including Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein (Francisco Costa) have designed bags for the initiative with hopes to to discourage counterfeiting and celebrate original design. The 2011 collection sold out, and after seeing the designs featured on this year's bags, we're anticipating the same results. Actress Katherine McPhee recently stepped out with a bag from the last collection. The totes (which read, appropriately, "You Can't Fake Fashion") will go on sale on March 20th exclusively through eBay's "Buy it Now" feature. The designer customized bags will retail at $200, and the four standard supply styles will be $45. Browse some of the  bags in our slideshow above, and pick out which one you'll rock come March 20! Our Favorite Trend From The CFDA Awards? Cut Outs, Cut Outs Everywhere

From left: Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman, Chloë Sevigny, and Doutzen Kroes Deep V's, thigh-high slits and cut outs ruled the red purple carpet at last night's CFDA Awards.  Our personal favorite look of the night came from Miranda Kerr, pictured left, who wore a stunning black Michael Kors dress with gold accents, complemented by matching gold and black cut out shoes. The other supermodels, like Chanel Iman (second from left) in a sexy turquoise frock and Doutzen Kroes (far right) in a red J.Mendel gown, kept the focus on their shoulder cut outs and thigh-high slits. Marc Jacobs, Lady Gaga and Proenza Schouler Reign At CFDA Awards–Take A Guess Who Was Wearing The Studded Thong

From left: Marc Jacobs, Lady Gaga, and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler Last night's CFDA Awards was a night full of celebration, humor, and of course, fashion. Sophia Coppola presented longtime friend Marc Jacobs (pictured above) with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, which she coined as the "Half-Lifetime Achievement Award." The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, however, went to Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who told the Huffington Post the honor came as a complete "surprise." Lady Gaga, who wore stacked cut out platform heels and a turquoise bob, was presented with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. In her acceptance speech, Gaga referenced a mini texting blunder she had with Anna Wintour, the Editor in Chief of Vogue: apparently when Wintour texted Gaga telling her she'd won the Fashion Icon award, Gaga mistook Wintour for a different Anna, and replied with "Yes, b*tch, we did it!" To which the fashion ice queen so fittingly responded, "How lovely." Shop Proenza Schouler at Net-a-Porter here now. Shop Marc Jacobs at Net-a-Porter here now. (more…)
