Two weeks ago, @shefindseileen and I had the pleasure of checking out La Prairie‘s latest concoction, the Cellular Power Infusion ($475) at its launch party. We’re both suckers for anything La Prairie, so we slathered ourselves in the stuff. At $475 a pop, we wanted to make sure it was legit before passing the word along to you. How about some Beauty Math.

Sure enough, 2 weeks of using it day and night later, and I can safely say this serum is for real. Not only does it smell amazing and feel weightless (so you actually want to wear it), but I’ve seen improvement in my skin (specifically, one trouble spot that shall remain nameless).

Beauty Math: Is A Jar Of La Prairie Eye Cream Worth $350?

One thing every woman in our SHEfinds office wants – no matter the age – is eye cream. When one of us finds an eye cream that actually works, we all run out and buy it. And it’s no wonder – under eye wrinkles are the most common beauty gripe.

So, what happens when my editor Eileen and I find ourselves with a bottle of fancy $350 La Prairie eye cream? We try it, damnit. Well, ladies, the results are in: it DOES work as well as you think. After 30 days, we feel collectively 7 years younger (no real ages, sorry) and our skin is much brighter, awake and smooth. We even look like we got a few extra hours of sleep (we didn’t).

Before you run out and spend your life savings on a bottle, we’ve crunched the numbers so you know it’s worth it:

Of all the products we buy on a daily basis, good skin is priceless. While it might be a hard pill to swallow, splurging on an eye cream is a better investment than splurging on that second pair of black booties. The 20 ml bottle last approximately 6 months (180 uses), so for less than $2, you can feel softer, smoother and brighter for the day. Better than a shot of espresso, I’d say.

Beauty Roadtest: Kiehl’s Has the Remedy For Your Puffy, Tired Eyes

At least once a week I wake with puffy eyes and/or dark circles. Normally, I use the cold soda can trick, but then I came across Kiehl’s Facial Eye De-Puffer ($18.50) stick. I used the cooling cream, which comes in a gentle roll-up canister, on one of my roughest mornings and loved it. It’s glides on easily without pulling skin and fixed my tired-eye woes: they felt more open and awake, and the swelling and puffiness went away almost immediately. The secret ingredients? Hibiscus tea to reduce swelling and caffeine for the puffiness. The cooling effect was the best part – don’t ask me how it works, but the De-Puffer was almost as cooling as a frozen steak. Who knew?

Stay Out a Few Extra Hours – With This Handy Gadget, No One Will Be Able to Tell

What: Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller ($14)

Why: I’m too young to get eye de-puffing surgery, too old to wear gobs of white eyeshadow on any occasion other than Halloween, and I happen to be super sensitive to most eye creams.

Thank goodness I found Garnier’s Anti-Puff Eye Roller. It’s easy to use – I just sweep the rollerball under my eyes before bed and after I wash my face in the morning – and it already seems to be working after just a week. Thanks to decongesting caffeine and hydrating vitamins, I look more alert, which makes me feel more chipper, which makes me want to stay out and actually earn those under-eye circles I’ll be zapping. Considering it costs less than what I fork over to Starbucks in a week, I’m happy to pay to look as wide awake as I feel.

I’m not the only one making up for late nights with Garnier’s help. The eye roller has won accolades from Cosmetic Industry Women and is a 2009 Allure Best of Beauty winner, too.
