Footwear designer Brian Atwood, renowned for his sexy platform heels, just revealed to WWD that his spring collection will include a mini-line of clutches and minaudieres.

The designer’s first venture into accessories is comprised of just four styles: envelope clutches and hard-cased minaudieres in a variety of materials, from crocodile skin to resin. The bags are priced from $1,050 to $1,850 and will be sold exclusively on Gilt.com. Atwood also announced plans to expand into a larger handbag collection for fall 2012 (including totes, hobos, and day bags), handbags under his lower-priced B Brian Atwood line, and eventually menswear.

Gawker is reporting that an anonymous bidder at the Dallas Heritage Auctions paid $203,150 for the Hermès Exceptional Collection Shiny Rouge H Porosus Crocodile 30 cm Birkin Bag. Any way you cut it, that’s a lot of money for 1 purse. We’re not sure what Dallas mover-and-shaker made the winning bid, but we’re pretty sure her husband is not going to be happy when he sees the bill.
