Amelia: Hilary Swank plays the aviatrix with a wanderlust and joie de vivre. Her impeccable style was sensible and comfortable, yet refined. And Earheart’s signature pilot scarves were practically ubiquitous, serving as a counterpoint to her otherwise masculine sensibilities. This Aquascutum chiffon checked scarf fits the bill, and complements both a sweater or a cropped leather jacket.
As she set new flying records, raised the bar for other female pilots, and captivated American society, she never forgot her Kansas roots. Amelia lived in a world of men, and mostly dressed the part. Trousers, collared shirts, and of course, the bomber jacket–every pilot’s essential. The Doma Leather Bomber Jacket is a contemporary version of the original.
Earhart met with accolades wherever she went. She also had to make nearly constant public appearances to finance flights. It’s hard to find a lot of 1930s-style hats that aren’t vintage, but this Feather Detail Cloche is a good choice. The nearly brimless style is feminine, and the felt-wool will keep your head warm during chilly receptions.
Overall: Movie: B- / Costuming: A
Since Amelia’s style is the clear winner, cop more of her look with the best leather jackets, hats, and celebrity scarves.
It’s no myth that if your head is warm and cozy, you’ll be comfortable through and through. So why not top off your fashionable fall attire with a stylish cloche, beret or knit hat? Here are our top five picks.
The delicate orchid details on this Kokin beret ($120) are done perfectly. Wear it in ravishing red or other tones, like creamy chocolate or a gorgeous ivory.
We love Eugenia Kim’s low priced line for Urban Outfitters, especially this felt cloche ($20) with its unique animal print band and hardware clasp.
A comfy knit hat is a must have this season. We recommend Bop Basics’ ribbed style ($58) with a playful pom pom.
Covered in shiny sequins, this sweater knit beret ($34) will add a little flash to your Friday night ensemble.
Get in on the faux fur craze with this plaid trapper hat ($95) from Juicy Couture. Its furry ear flaps and quilted lining will keep your skull stylishly toasty.

Our YouTube pick of the day is most definitely Amy Phillips in this rip roaring rendition of Rachel Zoe in unfamiliar territory – the grocery store. In an on-point impression, Phillips gets the lovably idiotic Zoe voice just right as she deems everything “bah-nanas” and attempts to weigh herself on a scale in the fruit aisle.
While the spoof Zoe bumbles her way through grocery shopping ventures, the real Rachel Zoe has been a busy lady lately. She’s been working on her very own line for QVC and on last week’s Zoe Report, she (entertainingly) took on the nearly impossible task of creating a “cheap” ensemble.
Get revved for hat season and cop Phillips’ faux-Zoe style with a floppy beret. We like this embellished gem beret and this lighter, knit hat with a girly bow.
Since winter accessory shopping is one of our favorite pastimes, we’ve picked out our favorites in hats, heavy scarves, and for some extra leg warmth, hosiery.

And browse fall fashions, such as leather jackets and blazers to wear with that chic hat.
Bright feather headbands may be out (finally!) and I am pumped about the new slew of creative head-gear for fall. When in the market for accessories to spice up any work-week doldrums, I know I can count on Urban Outfitters for innovative, low-priced looks from edgy designers. Eugenia Kim is the latest big name to join forces with the retailer; her fun collection of hats and headbands, entitled EEK! By Eugenia Kim (great name, I must say), is now available.
We suggest you get your hands on some EEK! items, and quick. Go Blair Waldorf with a chic hair clip ($28) in trendy purple or rev up for a retro-winter with this flapper style bow beanie ($38).
Add some new baubles to the mix and shop our guides for the best in bracelets, earrings, and figure-flattering jewelry.

Rarely do the proverbial chick flicks have us all aflutter over here at SheFinds but two little things have us salivating over Confessions of a Shopaholic: shopping (of course) and Patricia Field. Oh yes, the fashion magician who brought us Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada has been asked to wave her wand again on this little piece of cinematic magic and we cannot wait! Based on Sophie Kinsella’s best-selling books, the movie tells the story of a girl who gets into a little too much trouble with her shopping addiction. Isla Fisher plays the title character, Rebecca Bloomwood, and the trailer looks hilarious.
But what are we obsessed with? The clothes, of course. Rebecca gets the Fairy Godmother touch from Pat Field, wearing a mix of vintage and current labels in impossibly bright, cheery colors. Want to steal a little movie magic for your own wardrobe? Read on and get ahead of the game.
Bring the pink into your own closet with this Gap Rosette V-Neck Tee ($29) and this Tulip Pencil Skirt ($59). Accent the ensemble with this fabulous Julie K Clair Belt ($121).
Feeling extra sassy? Then by all means, add the shoes, a faux fur jacket, and yellow beret. This Kimchi Blue Faux Fur Jacket ($148) and Wave Shell Knit Beret ($24) may become new favorites in your own wardrobe. And we're big fans of these dazzling Mariah Metallic Snake Skin Peep Toe Pumps ($169).
Check back with SheFinds after the movie debuts February 13th for more Shopaholic fashion updates.

Yesterday’s inauguration was awe-inspiring and the fashion had us all abuzz here at SheFinds. One of the hot topics was the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, and that fabulous hat she wore when singing during the Inauguration ceremony. The $179 hat, customized with Swarovski crystals, came from Mr. Song Millinery in Detroit where Luke Song has been making dress hats for 25 years. While the hat isn’t available online, we have some alternatives for those of you who think you might want to bring a fabulous chapeaux into your own look.
Aretha’s hat is basically what some of us from the South call a 'Sunday-go-to-meetin’ hat. Should you have need for such an item during this season, this pretty Victor Osborne Cloche Hat in Slate ($165, was $275) is a way to steal the spirit of Aretha's style as something you can actually wear around town.
If you’re looking for something a little more cozy, this chic S Loves C by Spring & Clifton Beret ($38) is ideal for colder weather.
Need something cute for evening without blocking the view of others? A black angora beret from Marc Jacobs ($78) may surprise you with its versatility. Plus, no worrying about the hair before you leave the house.
One of these cozy cable-knit caps above will keep your noggin warm for almost $200, while the other does the same duty for less than $20. Think you can spot the one you wouldn't mind getting soggy with snow (and probably losing sometime during the season)? Click on the bargain beret, then test your steal-spotting skills in our Taste Test archives.
Having spent six years of my life a short drive from the mountains, there is nothing I enjoy more than finding a great Aspen-chic clothing store that sells its goods online. The relaxed atmosphere of ski towns and the apres-ski wear you get to sport are definitely a few of the things I miss about the mountains that you just can't get in NYC. However, when the cold weather rolls in, I take my fashionable ski-sense and mix it into my chic uptown style for an Aspen meets Manhattan look – and there is no better place to buy these looks than Gorsuch.com .
A grey cashmere sweater dress, knee high riding boots, a low slung belt and uniquely-wrapped pashmina is a great combination to look like you've just come back from the most relaxing mountain vacation. The 2-ply long sleeve cashmere sweater dress is made Italy by Iris von Arnim ($998). Pair with thee beautiful handmade in Venice riding boots to polish off your mountain-muse look ($1,198)
Looking for a more polished look? Gorsuch sells the rare-find European king of cashmere, Brunello Cucinelli. The gorgeous cashmere poncho with detachable fox/ostrich collar all but glows with it's handsew paillettes ($2,498). Looking for something on sale? Not to worry – they sell Cucinelli's famous cashmere here at half price as well! This 2-ply kimono cardigan is half price at $809 and comes in plum, paprika (seen here), deep red, and grey.
Now if you're actually taking a ski trip this winter and are anything like me, you like to blend in with the locals. Look no further for super-chic ski gear and glamorous apres-ski wear for going around town. Grab a Nina Cloche ribbed cashmere hat adorned with Swarovski crystals for $268 or a down ski jacket with a detachable fur lined hood and gold fixings for $1,699.
