Breaking: Cartier Sues Sale Site Hautelook Over “Fake” Watches & Bruised Ego
According to court documents released yesterday, luxury watch and accessories brand Cartier filed suit against Hautelook, the online sample sale site, for over $2 million. After secretly purchasing 5 Cartier watches from the site, Cartier claims that the products are "secondhand", "damaged", and (insert gasp here) possibly "unauthentic" (Hautelook denies the claims.) Cartier also alleges that the items arrived in the wrong packaging "and/or are accompanied by defaced/damaged Certificates of Authenticity." Sounds more like something you would buy on Canal Street than a legitimate members-only sale site, like Editor's Closet that too sells Cartier watches (only more legitimate). Cartier even goes so far to claim that Hautelook has never, "partnered with Cartier and is not an authorized dealer of Cartier's merchandise." Ouch. If Hautelook is found guilty, the LA-based company will have to pay Cartier all profits from the falsified products and clear Cartier's name and logos from the site. Investigations about other brands Hautelook offers are expected to begin once the verdict has been decided. If you ask us, it looks like Hautelook went a little too far for love. Apparently I Covet Kate Winslet And Her Sporty Modern Clothing Choices
What: Covet.com Why: Its lame “Shop Without Sin” tagline belies an actually cool shopping tool that, with a little tweaking, provides personal-shopper-selected clothes, shoes, and handbags from third-party stores to your inbox. To get started, the Stylyzer tool—designed to winnow tastes—takes you through a series of celeb photos and asks you to choose between two different looks. My result: Sporty Modern, but I tweaked it a little by adding a few other looks that also suited my style. You can then enter your specific sizes — a key difference from other shopping sites. And if you have time and want to get it just right, the tool has a Style Preferences section that lets you tell it what you don’t like. Hate orange stilettos and purple maxi dresses? You’ll never see them in your results. Submit selections and pick how often you’d like to receive shopping alerts (twice a week, daily, or Tuesdays) and you’re all set. You can also pick which brands you love and hate. So if I truly adhere to my Sporty Modern title, then BB Dakota and Joe's Jeans should be two favorite brands. While I wouldn't mind wearing this blazer ($50) and jeans ($163) combo for a casual night out, I'm more excited to see the picks delivered to my inbox next Tuesday.
Deal Of The Day: Up To 50% Off Strappy Day Dresses At Max Studio
Throw one of these in a suitcase when you’re traveling, or wear it out on a Sunday – they’ll all pair well with cardigans and flat sandals. The subtle floral appliqué detail on this cotton dress ($98, was $148) is pretty but not too sweet. The pattern on this empire waist sundress ($88 was $178) sort of looks like wallpaper from the seventies, but with bare legs and a big white cardigan, it totally works. The bustier-like bodice of this sun dress ($78, was $108) gives it a bit more structure. More sales and deals: Express: 40% off sandals Kohls: 45% to 50% off swimwear SSense: Up to 50% off sale items

The Fashion Show Recap: Focus Moves To Feet, Results Get Better
Finally! In episode 4 of Bravo's The Fashion Show, Isaac blew up the group format and we actually got to see what the designers can do. The mini challenge, inspired by vegan eco-brand olson Haus, had the contestants take a stock shoe mold and create their own unique designs with organic materials. Most weren't bad, but Johnny R., who can't sew a lick, didn't need the stitching help as he created a wedge bootie that wooed guest judge Elizabeth Olsen with its mix of color and materials (buy them here, $255). The elimination challenge took the gang to Bergdorf Goodman where they got five minutes to select any pair of "exceptional shoes" that would have to inspire their next designs. While everyone was trying to choose Jimmy Choo over YSL or Manolo, Angel was the only designer that couldn't pick one. Duh. So, Isaac gave her the red, white, and blue nautical-themed pair. Have fun with those! Alas, she produced a white shirt dress (as expected), but with a twist (literally) in that she sewed two shirts together with one upside down. The audience loved it, as did I, but it wasn't enough for the win. Reco's caged YSL sandals, which inspired his ribboned LBD and our notice a few months ago, took home the judges' applause due to his impeccable worksmanship and detail (buy the winning look here, $199). And after winning last week, we said au revoir to underwear designer Andrew. His beautiful feather Manolos weren't enough to jazz up a boring dress. If you're dying to get your hands on some luxe wedges, these Diane von Furstenberg Mecca Runway Anklewrap Wedges ($280) are a gorgeous saddle brown, perfect for summer skirts, and just slightly more expensive than Johnny's design. Or check out today's Daily Deal, where we found wedges at Endless for up to 33% off.
What To Wear To: A Summer Wedding
As summer rolls around, so do the invites to many a rooftop/beach/destination wedding. So be prepared with an outfit you can wear to any one of the random venues that will cordially request your presence. A long dress is not something to shy away from as long as it's a.) not white and b.) made of an appropriate material. Stick with one that's lightweight enough for warmer weather, but not made of weekend-errand running cotton. Pair with neutral, strappy shoes, who's color - or lack thereof - guarantees money well spent, as they can be worn with anything. Skip the necklace and go for some colorful hanging earrings instead - they give off a more summery feel. Slip on a cuff for detail on the arm, and pack your bar money (never assume cocktails are free) in a classic clutch with vintage detail. For more picks and recommendations for wedding-wear, check out our guides to summer dresses, party shoes, and jewelry staples.
Freebie Friday: Win A Classy Set Of Garment-Protecting Cache-Cachet Covertures
What: A set of garment covertures with moth-repellant herbal sachets, worth $100 Why: These are the Dom Perignon of garment bags. Use them to store seasonal items, organize your suitcase, or tidy up your closet – they protect clothes from dust and debris, and the herbal sachet they come with repels moths, too. Each coverture also has a see-through window that lets you identify the garment inside without opening it. And they’re lined in satin. Since repairing a moth-eaten sweater can cost about what one of these covers costs ($39 to $49), they could be a worthwhile consideration for your best pieces, or a sentimental garment (shouldn’t your wedding veil live in something pretty, anyway?). How: To enter, comment below about what garment or garments you’d store in your Cache-Cachet covertures. Would you laugh if I said my Bat Mitzvah dress? 1. Post a comment about what you'd store in your Cache-Cachet covertures. 2. You must supply us with a valid email address and sign up for the SheFinds newsletter. 3. The contest starts now and entries must be date stamped by our server no later than Friday, June 5th, 2009 at 11:59 AM Eastern Time to be eligible. 4. One winner will be selected during a random drawing and will be announced in the June 9th SheFinds newsletter. The winner must reply via email as instructed in the newsletter to claim the prize. 5. No prize substitutions. 6. You must be 18 years old or older to enter and a resident of the USA. 7. No purchase necessary. 8. Void where prohibited. 9. Click here for the full rules.
