Michelle Obama’s Dropping In On Jay Leno Tonight

Can Michelle Obama's appearance on tonight's Jay Leno Show save the funnyman's foray into primetime from its ratings nosedive? Probably not, but we'll definitely be tuning in to check out the duds on our oh so fashionable First Lady. Last time Leno interviewed her (check out the picture above for a refresher) Mrs. O was decked out in a gorgeous printed dress and yellow cardigan (fastened with one of her signature brooches), all from J.Crew. We've found some equally presidential items from the store's new collection, like this paisley shift and belted sweater. From her famous shorts escapade to the more conservative ensembles, like her perfect execution of florals and pearls, we've been devotedly following Michelle's clothing choices. So what will the style-icon wear to Leno this time around? We're kind of hoping she'll wow us with one of her winning Target finds. Mimicking the First Lady's impeccable looks is a cinch with the help of our Michelle Obama style guide and our picks for the best in cardigans and sheath dresses.

Weird, But Cool: Wrist Cuffs For Face Washing Time

What: On The Cuff ($8) Why: At least twice a day, I hunch over my bathroom sink and wash my face, trying to get more water in the sink than on the floor. Problem is, the water runs from my hands down my arms, to my elbows, then onto my feet (you get the picture). I find this annoying. But, I wipe my arms when I wipe my face and am done with it. However, someone found this just annoying enough to come up with something--essentially a sponge-like bracelet that stretches to fit over your wrist--that solves the problem. And it works. That is, if you want to add another step to your routine. However, if you take into account that you can wear them to wash dishes or your car, what's another step, right? The Look Of Lipstick Jungle: Purple And Pearls Rule The Premier

Lipstick Jungle kicked off with a surprising dose of dark humor last night. In the opening, the three leading ladies were tipsily giggling a funeral – that we later learn was for Nico’s husband, who she had just learned was having a pretty extensive affair with a student (He got her pregnant! He was paying for her orthodontia!).But – and it feels a little weird to say – the clothes were stellar as always. Even at the funeral.Pieces in purple, a fall favorite this year, kept popping up onscreen.  Wendy wears this flattering Alberta Ferretti ruched satin dress ($1,225), and if you watch closely you’ll see Nico in Elie Tahari’s chic, sleek Breydon Dress ($220, was $368). Even Victory Ford’s feminine-eclectic style included the color, in the form of a simple cardigan like this one from BCBG ($138) expertly paired with a full metallic skirt ($325) by Phillip Lim.   The women were also seen sporting several different takes on pearls – Wendy’s ribbon-adorned necklace looks more casual, while Wendy and Nico both paired their black dresses with several strands. Get Wendy’s new-school pearl look with this satin-wrapped glass-pearl necklace ($48). This tri-strand necklace ($7.80) accomplishes the luxe multi-strand look on a budget, while this Majorica necklace ($795) mimics Wendy’s colored pearls. You can also see this post at's blog.

Week Of Hair Help: Fix Split Ends Without Running To The Salon

In these rough economic times, we've all had to rethink our spending habits, finding creative ways to save money without sacrificing fun, food, or style. One expense that I've recently been considering: haircuts. For one, they're pricey--fixing your 'do can cost anywhere from $40-$150. And, if you have long hair (like me) or bangs (like half the population), it's a frequent expense, too. After about six weeks, even if my style is still holding its shape, split ends ruin the look, sending me back to the salon for a trim. Who can afford so many haircuts?Fortunately, three products -- Citre Shine's Split End Mender ($5), Herbal Essences' Long Term Relationship ($3), and White Sands' Porosity ($16.95), -- are as anti-split end as I am. Split ends and breakage occur when hair is dry or brittle from styling, or simply damaged by being brushed and pulled back into a ponytail. Both of the leave-in "laminates" (Herbal Essences and Citre Shine) keep your hair healthier for longer by strengthening the follicle and protecting it against the effects of heat. And they're both fabulous. Choose by smell: the Herbal Essences' cream boasts a typically strong and fruity aroma; Citre Shine's version gives off a more citrus-y scent. White Sands is a spray that controls porosity--the measure of void spaces in a material, like hair--by penetrating the follicle and filling in those voids, thereby evening its texture. It's a pretty penny for something that goes on your hair, but it certainly gets the job done (and can cut down on frequent trips to the salon).  Get Yours: and

Solution: Good-Looking Shoes Don’t Have To Kill Your Feet

Perhaps you're stoked about being able to take your favorite tall boots out of summer retirement. Or maybe you're just glad that those toe-torturing flip flops are heading off into the sunset for another year. Whatever your current shoe mood, there's no denying it's a season to get serious about shoe comfort. Dr. Scholl's is hip to the plight of women everywhere, and they've developed a whole line of just-for-gals foot fixes that go beyond the occasional peppermint pedi to hit discomfort where it lives. Best for Pumps: Towering stilettos have a whole host of bad habits, not the least of which is chafing in the too-tight areas around the back of your heels and the tops of your feet. There's nothing worse than those deep red grooves you see when you take those pumps off for a quick breather. Eliminate digging and chafing with a few swipes of Miracle Shield ($6), a silicon-based lubricant stick that's similar to what distance runners use to curb friction and its disastrous side effects.Best for Open Toes: I'll admit it: I've been known to buy a pair of cheapo shoes if I know I'm only gonna wear them once. I padded the rims of some deep-deep-discount (read: cheaply made) open-toes with Rub Relief Strips ($7) and got nary a blister. The strips are kind of like Bubble Tape in that they come in a huge roll and you just snip and stick where you need a little extra cushioning. A roll can really go the distance, and the strips make your comfort customizable. Best for Boots: I am a total sucker for those "I'm So Gellin'" commercials (what? I can appreciate a good pun!) so I'm thrilled Dr. Scholl's developed a line of gel insoles specifically designed for women's feet. Their Comfort Gel Insoles ($9) pamper you from ball to heel, with shock-absorbing gel set in a gentle massaging pattern. For any boots with heels higher than riding boots', these discreet, clear-gel insoles are a less-than-$10 upgrade that can't be overlooked.

News Updates: People Like LC Clothes, Mademoiselle Staffers Were Competitive Anti-Eaters, And More..

Bloomingdales’ Vice Chairman says Lauren Conrad’s clothing line is selling out, and that it’s “by far the best-selling celebrity line we have.” We think her (much more affordable) jewelry line is pretty great too. [Stylelist]In her new memoir, former Mademoiselle staffer Valerie Frankel says she and her co-workers engaged in competitive non-eating at the office, and that she used cocaine to keep her weight down. We’re not sure if this is all better or worse than the IV diet. Look of the Day: Natural Neutrals

Even basic neutrals can look great when you add rich texture via interesting accessories. A cream colored crochet tank simply goes with basic khakis for spring or summer. Then the look gets dressed up with a swank croc belt, while the embroidered bag brings out the floral print on the earrings. The simple geometry of the bracelet and ring finish the look by mellowing it all out. ShopStyle fans are having a ball with the Set the Trend Contest. As Seen On: Samantha Harris

What: Tart Anita Dress in Plum Where: Worn by Dancing with the Stars Host, Samantha Harris, on the Green Carpet of the Shrek 3 Premiere and E! News. Why: While expecting a prince on a white horse to trot my way is a far-flung fantasy, achieving a look fit for a princess is not. This curve-hugging micromodal and Lycra dress has the sophistication of a ball gown thanks to its long flowing skirt, but with the sexy peek-a-boo slit and baring halterneck, it is a contemporary blend of sex appeal and elegance. Fit for a queen, or just that formal occasion you've been dying to get dressed up for, the Anita dress is a luxurious solution to your fairytale fantasy. Choose from plum, as shown here or even mauve (light pink), straw (yellow), café (dark brown) or black. For a more flirty pattern, this dress also comes in a floral café or plum print. Fashion Find: Rafe for Less

What: Rafe for Target Handbags Why: We love designer goods at for-the-masses prices, which is why these bags hit a high note with us. Unlike some of the under-designed cheapos that have been popping up, the Rafe bags are actually quite nice and well constructed considering the price (compare $40 to $400). Obviously, the bags don't have all the same intricacies of the originals, but they are similar nonetheless and offer a chic alternative for the fashionista on a budget. Our favorite? The Floral Canvas Handheld Duffle . Despite what the print might look like online, in person it's actually a good rendition of an old vintage purse. I love that I can pair it with a simple pair of khakis or a clean white dress and I don't need much else to make my look stand out. But don't take my word for it. Check out the collection. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality and design so you can stop worrying about not being able to afford the real thing. Price: $50 Get Yours:
