Is Snapchat, An App Basically Designed For Sexting, The Next Instagram?
There's a new viral app on the block - Snapchat. Billed by its developers as a way to share photos with friends and family in real time and make "social media fun again," the app allows you to send photos and videos to your friends more quickly than MMS messages and control how long the recipient is allowed to view the photo/video - making it convenient for, um, compromising images. It's been around since April 2011, but until recently, it's only been used for it's most obvious purpose: sexting. Now though, over 50 million photos and videos (known as "snaps") are shared every day - the bulk of them being goofy selfies. What do you think? Will this app become to the new Instagram? Screenshots from the app Dermatologist appointments may have just been outsourced to the cloud. While reading this month's issue of Vogue, we noticed a mention of SpotCheck, the free smart phone application that lets you scan in photos of your own moles and spots to be checked out by a certified dermatologist within 24 hours. If the results come back as "atypical," the app will use your phone's GPS to find nearby doctors' office to help you make an appointment. Hey, just saving money on the copays alone could justify an iPhone purchase, right?

Holiday Shopping Is About To Get A Lot Easier With These 5 Genius Apps
Instead of waiting on those really freakin' long lines to get holiday gifts this year, why not get what you need on your iPhone? Thanks to iTunes, there are enough awesome shopping apps to fill a Barney's Warehouse. Some tell you where the sales are before they even start, so finding those boots you've been wanting on-sale has never been easier. We've weeded out the winners from the duds to bring you these top 5 shopping apps: 1. Etsy Addict ($.99): This app has all the quirk of Etsy, but in the palm of your hand. Search the handmade products by color, price, etc., and even click to buy. You can also keep lists of favorite sellers and products - which is crucial since there are more Etsy sellers than we can shake a (glittered) stick at. 2. Lucky At Your Service (Free): Shop the app's Lucky editor-approved products, then find your picks in a store nearby (using the phone's GPS). The app will even call the store for you and have the item put on hold. The wish-list feature lets you send any product your little heart desires to your friends (ahem, boyfriend) via Facebook, Twitter, or email. 3. Glamour Magazine (Free): If you're a magazine junkie, this is your app. It's free to download and each interactive issue of Glamour is $3.99. You can even save your favorite pieces within the magazines' virtual pages and the app will tell you where you can buy them. 4. Vogue Stylist (Free): The Vogue app lets you catalog your wardrobe via pictures you take, keep a list of favorites from the magazine, and even shop products straight off the latest issue pages. 5. Groupon (Free): We love Groupon normally but the (eco-friendly) app eliminates the hassle of having to print out the coupons. The app lets you search, purchase, and catalog your Groupons on the go; it also creates a map of places nearby where you can buy Groupons. Check out more of our favorite fashion iPhone apps. The iPod App That Picks Your Fragrance For You (Without Spritzing)
Perfume spritzing ladies in department stores could find themselves out of a job soon. And thank goodness--I get headaches just from walking by the beauty counters. Now, there's an app for that. The Apple iPod Touch app , Ascent, asks shoppers a series of questions, and then presents them with scent suggestions that fit their answers. According to WWD, Ascent, developed by Estee Lauder's Aramis and Designer Fragrances division, will be available at Nordstrom's beauty counters starting May 28 (the weekend of their Half Yearly sale). Although the app only suggests fragrances owned by Aramis, we're sure that other perfume companies will jump on ship eventually.
