Don And Betty Make Season Three Of Mad Men Go Out With A Bang

Last night’s Mad Men season finale definitely left us wanting more. But it looks like we’ll have to wait at least a few months before finding out if Betty and Don are really headed for splitsville and what kind of shenanigans will go on at the new Sterling Cooper Draper Price (sheesh, that’s a mouthful).

With her perfectly coiffed do, impeccable makeup and stylish ensemble, Betty looked cozy and cute even while breaking the divorce news to her kids. We’ve long loved Draper in those comfy-looking plaid pants, but the addition of an embellished cardigan really pulls her outfit together.

But of course, in true Mad-fashion, even a national crisis  couldn’t stop the ladies and gents of Sterling Cooper from partying in their finest attire. Of course we love when the ladies and gents of Mad Men gather for some sort of gala – it guarantees plenty of 1960s era frocks for us to ooh and aah over (not to mention 1960s suits to get your man into). We’re just getting into Halloween fever, and this is the ultimate reminder that something can both pass as a costume and be an incredible garment to wear every single other day of the year.  But do hurry – the suit is only available until the show’s season finale, on November 8th

We saw two equally stylish sides of Betty Draper last night on Mad Men; cute, conservative and ultra-endearing in Ossining, and all vamped up and sultry in Rome – and we can’t decide which version we like better. While we loved the effect of her towering hairdo (if only this was trendy, or remotely possible to do ourselves) and glitzy accessories in Italy, there’s something eternally charming about an a-line dress with a neatly tied, printed silk scarf.

Betty Gets Down With Her Bad Self (Well Sort Of, Almost) In Florals

In an excellent episode of Mad Men (both style and plot-wise) Peggy was promiscuous once again, Don sealed the deal with hotel big wig, Conrad Hilton (and passed some bad judgment with some creepy 19-year-old hitchhikers), while Betty had an interesting meeting with Henry Francis, a man from the Governor’s office. It was very clear that Mr. Francis’ intentions were not just to help Betty save the Pleasantville Reservoir, and judging by the fitted frock she wore to their appointment, it looks as if Bets may have a cheating heart in her as well.

On last night’s Mad Men, for a moment we thought we’d have to say goodbye to Joan Holloway and her vampy style, but of course, the television gods swooped in to our rescue. With Swing Jackets and Sheath Dresses, Mad Men’s Betty Makes A Stylish Homecoming

After enduring an episode-long stay in the hospital, complete with uber-theatrical screaming fits and just a little too wacky hallucinations, last night Mad Men’s Betty Draper finally had the fictional baby that’s been keeping her in maternity clothes all season. As great as Mrs. Draper has looked in various colorful mom-to-be frocks, we’re glad to see her back in more shapely, non-pregnant woman clothes. In her first appearance at a regular size, Betty returned home from the hospital with a new baby in tow, and wearing a fabulous pink dress and swing jacket, matched to a tee.

Of course, we’re always in awe of Betty’s jacket collection – the woman has a fashionable jacket in every color of the rainbow, so that no dress will go unmatched – but hey, that’s why it’s TV. We were actually more interested in the girly garb Bets wore underneath. When it comes to hiding your tummy, post-pregnancy or not, a dress like this one, with its high waist and pleats at the neck, is just what the doctor ordered. Since light pink is a tad out of season right now, we’re going with this Shoshanna sheath ($310) – it has the same sweet pleating at the neckline and a way more daring pattern.

On Mad Men, Even An Uncomfortable Dinner Party Is An Occasion To Dress Up

Sterling Cooper’s higher-ups celebrated Derby Days this week—Pete Campbell and his wife Trudy cleared the dance floor, trophy wife Jane made some serious party fouls, and Don and Betty (what else?) brooded and looked fabulous. But it was at a decidedly more quaint affair across town where we found our fashion moment.

Joan played trick pony for her husband’s doctor cronies at a buffet style dinner party she put together. Joan didn’t look too happy to be put on display—accordion and all!—but she was wearing the right outfit for the spotlight: a form-fitting LBD bedecked with red roses.
