Though we don’t condone Hunter’s copying of the iconic Hermès ‘H, we are (almost) always okay with playing celebrity copycat, and right now we are all about the chic all-black ensemble Heidi Klum sported (pictured above) while filming a new episode of Project Runway. Her T by Alexander Wang one-shoulder dress is on sale now at Shopbop for just $115.30, and her belt is available at Barney’s for $225. Because of the 90+ heat, we suggest pairing this little black bargain-of-a-dress with bare legs and strappy sandals – save the tights and booties for fall. More good news for work-out buffs with a passion for fashion (remember Armani for Reebok?): Heidi Klum has teamed up with New Balance on an activewear collection that will be sold exclusively on Amazon.com. Starting Oct. 7, stock up on cotton and silk tunics, woven tops, leggings and outerwear. The line is appropriately named “Heidi Klum for New Balance” and will be priced from $32 to $168.

If you’re planning to wear jeggings this fall, it’s time to hit the gym. Ditch the cotton night-shirts for a more breathable, and super-cute Athleta Tinker Tank ($44). You will the drawstring waist and racerback.

Chloe Dao won season two of Project Runway with her gorgeous dresses that every woman could wear. Now she designs patterned luggage for Nuo, which is actually cute, but completely unexpected. This Nuo Chloe Dao for Nuo Abstract Floral 15.4″ Laptop Case ($27.99, down from $34.99) and this Nuo Chloe Dao for Nuo 20″ Trolley ($95.99, down from $119.99) could actually be your perfect travel companions this summer.

Season one winner, Jay McCarroll, always had a quirky sense of style—he wore a poncho and a cowboy hat at the same time–but Wonder Twins Power Cuffs ($15)? These juvenile bracelets belong in Limited Too, not on any adults’ wrist.

Mychael Knight, a runner up in season three, lost the final contest due to a tacky collection that The Real Housewives of Orange County probably lusted over. His fragrance Majk ($35), “cleverly” named from his initials, looks a bit tacky, too. We can’t comment on the perfume’s smell, but the purple “Majk” dust and the scary looking model just makes it look ridiculous.

Jillian Lewis made it to the top three in season 4, and while it’s not so random for a designer to design clothes, it is surprising that her spring 2010 collection looks like a lower priced Balmain line.  It has the sequin, linebacker shoulders, and moto-inspired leggings. Didn’t Nina Garcia’s glares teach her anything?

We’re excited: right now, there’s only one lonely, tame Christian Siriano flat left at Payless–we think Siriano’s name will be more justly served once its outrageous cousins arrive to keep it company:

They hit stores in mid-March, about six weeks after the rest of his spring collection, and will retail for $79.99 each.

We’ve got the scoop on Season 7:

Where: Looks like L.A. didn’t translate so well for the show, which originally began in New York and thrived there. So this season, they’re back to New York, where it worked.

Who: The cast ranges in age and talent, from 22 year-old Maya Luz, a Santa Fe, NM freelance designer who started her label, Unsweetened, her senior year of high school, to 47 year old designer and instructor Pamela Ptak, who lists her favorite designer as God. We think this could be an interesting season, but only time will tell.

Judges are the same old lot–Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, with some surprise guests.

When: Premieres Jan 14 at 10pm EST on Lifetime. We’ll let you know if it performs better than Bravo’s Launch My Line.

On the judging panel was the usual trio: Heidi, Michael Kors and Nina, plus an additional guest in Suzy Menkes, the world-renowned fashion critic for the International Herald Tribune.

Althea presented her 13-piece collection first, and wowed the judges with her knitwear and sportswear. Suzy, et al raved that her designs were wearable, and they praised Althea as being the designer most in touch with what women are wearing on the street.

Carol Hannah stuck to her sensibilities and created  pretty dresses. Judges praised her color palette and meticulous construction, as well as her precise use of structural draping. A particular fave was the first piece (above), a sexy mini with flattering details.

By far the most detail-oriented of the shows, Irina’s collection was created  around a theme of shielding the independent, New York woman. While there was an awful lot of black (judges criticized the collection’s lack of color), the hats and bags she made to go with pieces helped create the edgy cohesiveness that landed her the big prize.

Irina’s sleek design aesthetic gave her clothes a feminine bent with a hard edge. This Preen Line Laced Funnel Coat is an investment, but its laced sleeves and belted silhouette bring together a good mix of chic femininity and edgy detail. If you’re a fan of the distressed leggings she used throughout her collection, these David Lerner Half-Ripped Leggings have just the right amount of sass without looking too punk.

Carol Hannah moved to upstate New York to reduce distractions. On her drive there, she stopped at Duke University, and drew inspiration from the chapel at night. Tim likes her looks so far, but wants her to edit.

Irina stayed on the Upper East Side to create her collection, but she ultimately draws from her youth in Coney Island to create an ode to New York City. The dark color palette drew concerned criticism from Tim, but Irina pushed on.

Althea went home to Dayton, Ohio, to work on her looks, which weirdly mirror some of Irina’s. Tim’s biggest criticism is that her 12 pieces don’t look like they’re for the same client, and encourages Althea to edit, edit, edit.

With just days to prepare for the show, Carol Hannah is hit with a stomach virus that zaps her energy. Good thing Heidi brings back Gordana, Logan and Christopher to assist the finalists. And surprise, they’ll have to create a thirteenth look for the show. Until then…
