Rachel Zoe Dies Over Her Spring Must-Haves (And We Do Too)

Rachel Zoe is guest blogging at FabSugar, and we love her must-haves for spring.  Her choices, which included a statement cuff, a transitional leather jacket, and a spring scarf, could work in  anyone’s closet.  Whether you like the pint sized stylist or not, some of the most stylish celebs (Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes) trust her with their image, so there is something to be said for her taste. If you aren’t starring alongside Brad Pitt in a movie, or can’t afford her rates, we have the five items you need now to look like Rachel Zoe styled you herself.

Rachel Zoe piles it on when it comes to her rings and bracelets, and gold is her color of choice. This Kenneth Cole Gold Cuff ($38) is geometric and goes with everything. We love the unexpected white color on this Ariella Collection Faceted Ring ($38).

We showed you five pretty scarves for spring, and Rachel Zoe adds a lightweight scarf to her basic t-shirt and jeans to add some color. This Spun by Subtle Floral Scarf ($35) will add color, but the subtle colors won’t ruin an outfit.

Rachel Zoe gravitates towards printed maxi dresses–check out our round up of the best maxi dresses–and this Single Maxi Dress ($295) has a beautiful print and is casual enough for an outdoor barbecue, but can be dressed up with jewelry, heels, and a clutch for a semi-formal event.

A leather jacket is a smart transitional outerwear piece, and this Aqua Leather Asymmetrical-Zip Jacket ($298) has wide lapels and pleated shoulders that make it even cooler.

See how to get other celebrities’ looks in our guide to celebrity scarves and celebrity sunglasses, and then check out the best spring fashion trends.

Get Badgley Mischka’s American Glamour For HSN Two Days Early

While HSN once had the stigma of being for little old ladies and insomniacs, these days, there’s now a hipper crowd inhabiting the brand. I met with the designers behind Badgley Mischka (seen below), whose newest project is American Glamour for HSN.

While they admitted they’re a bit nervous for their upcoming spot on HSN this Wednesday and Thursday, they didn’t mention that some of the items are actually available early, on HSN.com now–so get in on it before it sells out! Catch the duo on HSN Wednesday March 17 at 12pm for Jewelry Hour, and March 18 from 10-11pm, 3-5pm, 7-8pm and 10pm-12am.

How awesome is this gold chain bracelet ($129) that doubles as a watch?

This royal blue, sky blue and turqouise ombre scarf ($29.99) is perfect for adding pizazz to spring outfits.

This dome satchel ($329) is the kind of piece that will always remain classic. In HSN’s true form, you can pay it all at once, or in 3 payments of $109.

Get even more accessories in our guides to the best necklaces, and check out an American denim classic, skinny jeans and Oprah’s favorite, CJ by Cookie Johnson jeans.

Ditch The Heavy Wool For These Top Five Spring Scarves

The weather is starting to break, and although you can store away the hats and gloves, a lightweight scarf is the perfect accessory to wear into spring. I love scarves because they’re practical for transitional weather, when you want to ditch the tights and boots and put on a pair of flats and jeans.

Nicole Richie’s white t-shirt and tattered jeans would be pretty boring if she didn’t have a red scarf to spruce up the look, and Jessica Biel’s knotted silk scarf ups the style quotient on her leather jacket and maxi dress. And if you just want to add color or pattern to an outfit, you can wear your scarf a la Katie Holmes. Here are our five favorite scarves that you can wear now and into spring.

1. The infinity scarf was a big hit this past winter, and this Limited Polka Dot Infinity Scarf ($29.50) is a lightweight option that will work for the office or the weekend.

2. Vibrant colors are in for spring, and this J.Crew Refined silk cashmere scarf ($60) will easily incorporate the trend into your wardrobe.

3. The print on this Collection XIIX ‘Floral Day’ Scarf ($38) might be intimidating to wear on a dress or blouse, but this scarf works for all style types.

4. This Love Quotes Pastel Italian Linen Scarf ($90) is a celebrity favorite–Nicole Richie is wearing it in the pic above–and the large size means it can second as a shawl.

5. I love the purple fringe and print on this Madewell Mosaic Square Scarf with Fringe ($52). A square shaped scarf is great for beach vacays when you want to cover your humid stricken hair.

See our guide to celebrity scarves, then check out the best celebrity denim and the best celebrity sunglasses.

Bestseller: Tory Burch Tells Us Which Printed Blouse Everyone’s Buying

I’m a curious shopper: I always like to peek and see what other people are buying in case there’s something I’m missing. We  caught up with Tory Burch recently to find out what the fastest selling pieces in her stores are, and it turns out, the top selling item is printed–a huge trend for spring:

The Tory Burch Cari blouse she’s wearing above is a huge best-seller–and it’s easy to see why. The on-trend python print silk top looks just as amazing with jeans as it would tucked into a pencil skirt. Don’t you love when one top can has the power to transform an entire outfit?

If you’re drooling over Tory’s above outfit like we are, we tracked down the pieces so you can buy it online now:

The buttery olive leather Sacher jacket ($795) has lasting power. Not only is it to-die-for now, but it’s and the ultimate in classic investments. It goes with everything without being the same old boring black or brown–proof that olive is the new neutral.

Don’t forget the famously oversize sunglasses ($149) which never go out of style.

Check out our guide to celebrity scarves, plus jackets and the best sunglasses. Snag a great deal today at Nordstrom’s 40% off sale on shoes, and check out all of this week’s online sample sales so you don’t miss anything.

Fashion Math: Would You Trade A Plane Ticket For A Scarf?

You can jet to just about anywhere in the country for around $300 or less. So when you see a scarf–a couple swathes of fabric–costing $275 you probably wonder if it’s worth it. I bought a classic, 100% cashmere scarf by Burberry five years ago. It’s still in beautiful condition and never ceases to look impeccable even with jeans. A plaid pattern in neutral black goes with nearly everything and cashmere is the softest, warmest material you can get. Let’s see if the  fashion math really adds up: (more…)

Weird Trend: A Scarf That Looks Like A Bullet Proof Vest

Today we caught wind of the Necky scarf, the newest spin-off of the popular Snuggie, a blanket with sleeves.

We never understood the Snuggie trend, but it was surprisingly a big deal–last year at this time it was Amazon’s top selling item. The Necky scarf resembles a bullet-proof vest (or worse, a fleece bib) and boasts that it will keep you warm, without the gaps of regular scarves (see below). [YouTube]

Necky

So we propose something better–and certainly more stylish. Here’s our round-up of the best infinity scarves and snoods: get the same results, but look cooler:

Tarnish Inifity Scarf

1. This lambswool blend striped infinity scarf really does go on forever–and so does the style. Nautical black and white never goes out of style.

eco purple infinity scarf

2. This super soft double infinity scarf feels great–and in purple, looks even better paired with a gray, black or cream coat.

Paula Bianco infinity scarf

3. A cable-knit scarf gets the job done–and looks luxurious. Wear it inside, too, with skinny jeans and a cardigan.

Peruse our guides to more scarves, snoods, skinny jeans and cardigans.

Charlotte Russe trapper hat

We love this plaid trapper hat–it’s cute, and lined in faux-fur to keep your head and ears away from the wind.

betsey johnson button up leggings

Knit legwarmers are a life-saver on days when it’s so cold you can hardly bear to leave the house. You can always take them off easily if you start to get steamy inside.

ralph lauren sherling suede gloves

Wrap your hands in these suede gloves lined in cozy shearling. You won’t regret it.

For more winter must-haves, peruse our guides to the best coats to wear over party dresses, and of course gloves and scarves.

Winter Accessories Under $150: Fingerless Gloves, Infinity Scarves, And Faux Fur Galore

Today on Better.tv, we’re showing off our favorite winter accessories trends: fingerless gloves, infinity scarves, and the now-ubiquitous faux fur. (Hi Rachel Zoe!) Best of all: all the items you see here are under $150.

Also: Find even more faux fur, infinity scarves and fingerless gloves in our hand-picked shopping guides.

Faux Fur

Faux fur is showing up on everything from vests to hats to shoes this season. We love the luxurious look of this faux mink wrap ($40 – and from Target!) for pairing with holiday party dresses or even jeans and a tee – it’s more versatile than you’d think. This vest ($150) from Stefani Greenfield’s stellar HSN line is also a cold-weather workhorse.

If you’d prefer your faux fur in small doses, try a fluffy hat ($15), or these cool socks ($39) that can freshen up the look of your boots with the fur cuff that peeks out the top.

Infinity Scarves

This of-the-moment scarf shape makes getting that effortlessly chic loop totally simple – just throw it over your head. Echo’s chunky single-loop scarf ($45) is the simplest – it sits around your neck like a cowl-y collar. Wear Roxy’s Glow Infinity Scarf ($28) or Echo’s triangle pattern scarf ($35) the same way, or double-loop them for a cozier fit.

Fingerless Gloves

Since we’re all tied to our Smartphones these days, fingerless gloves make communicating on the go a breeze: fingers are free to type and text. Free People’s Doubs gloves ($28) have adorable metal buttons, and Mossimo for Target’s pair ($11) is extra long for extra warmth.

burberry argyle-print wool snood

In a cool rendition of an argyle print, this wool-cashmere blend Burberry snood ($325) is all luxury.

staring at the stars open knit snood

Amelia’s Costume Designers Could Fly Away With An Oscar

amelia_scarfaquascutum_scarf

Amelia: Hilary Swank plays the aviatrix with a wanderlust and joie de vivre.  Her impeccable style was sensible and comfortable, yet refined. And Earheart’s signature pilot scarves were practically ubiquitous, serving as a counterpoint to her otherwise masculine sensibilities. This Aquascutum chiffon checked scarf fits the bill, and complements both a sweater or a cropped leather jacket.

amelia_bomberdoma leather bomber jacket

As she set new flying records, raised the bar for other female pilots, and captivated American society, she never forgot her Kansas roots. Amelia lived in a world of men, and mostly dressed the part. Trousers, collared shirts, and of course, the bomber jacket–every pilot’s essential. The Doma Leather Bomber Jacket is a contemporary version of the original.

amelia_hatNordstrom_featherhat

Earhart met with accolades wherever she went. She also had to make nearly constant public appearances to finance flights.  It’s hard to find a lot of 1930s-style hats that aren’t vintage, but this Feather Detail Cloche is a good choice. The nearly brimless style is feminine, and the felt-wool will keep your head warm during chilly receptions.

Overall: Movie: B-  /  Costuming: A

Since Amelia’s style is the clear winner, cop more of her look with the best leather jackets, hats, and celebrity scarves.
