If Kate Middleton could help the world accept sheer pantyhose, then Pippa Middleton can do the same for padded underwear—and according to the Daily Mail, she did just that. Apparently, sales of the UK’s “Invisible Shaping Bum Boosters” have been up ever since Pippa’s fateful Royal Wedding Day appearance (pictured above), when she “set the standard for how a perfect rear should appear,” according to a brand spokesperson.

But padded panties aren’t news to us stateside, last year “Booty Pop” panties made their début on Regis & Kelly, making Kim Kardashian butts attainable to women everywhere. P.s. You can even buy a pair of the $20 Booty Pops for yourself now at Target.com—which is a whole lot cheaper than hiring a trainer or plastic surgeon.

With fall in full swing, I’m no stranger to wearing tights regularly—but hosiery for our arms? That’s something I’ve yet to consider.

According to the London Evening Standard, “A recent survey found that 75 per cent of women hated their upper arms more than any other part of their body,” making the case for Armery, which is apparently “flying off the shelves” at UK stores like Debenhams.

Not only is the garment meant to cover up the upper arms—but it’s also meant to shape and tone them, much like traditional shapewear.

Designed by Mary Portas and wife Melanie Rickey, the arm hosiery retails for £17.50 (just under $30) a pair and comes in solid, opaque, and translucent designs.

A few weeks ago, I attended Pamela Pekerman’s Holiday Gift showcase, and was given a pair of Lissé leggings. Full disclosure alert: I’ve never actually worn shapewear before. It’s not that I don’t need to—it’s mostly that I hate feeling constricted and would rather just wear a loose-fitting and flowy dress than suck in what I’m trying to hide.

So needless to say, I was a bit reluctant to view the said shapewear leggings as a wardrobe staple—until I tried them on.

High-waisted and actually long enough (#tallgirlproblems), they actually remind me of a pair of “disco pants” I own from American Apparel—except they’re twice as flattering. With a top panel that sucks your belly in and thick fabric throughout the leg, these Lissé leggings are so cute and comfortable, I decided to do the unthinkable: wear them as pants. To a bar.

And although no major cathartic discovery happened, I did discern that they were actually perfect for a night out—they’re warm, comfortable, and above all, flattering. Hey, as Jill Zarin once told us, no one should be afraid to wear shapewear as outerwear.

UPDATE: Looks like the people over at Lissé want you to wear the leggings as outerwear, too, judging from the newer styles with leather knee panels (pictured right) from Bare Necessities. That makes me feel a little better about myself.

Last month, I got a chance to chat with The Real Housewives of New York’s Jill Zarin about her Skweez Couture shapewear line, which she noted, “you might need a scissor to get out of.” And although she took me on the grand tour of her various shapewear styles—some of which are even cute enough to pass as outerwear—official first photos of the collection haven’t been made public until now.

According to WWD, the line will be available on October 1st at Lord & Taylor, followed by other high-end department stores and then eventually hit HSN by February. The pieces range in price from $20 to $85 and range from size small to size 3XL.

One thing is for sure: Jill really knows what she’s talking about. Regardless of her on-camera persona, she’s clearly a driven career woman–as well as a serious shapewear enabler! Somehow she made the hard sell for a pair of $175 silk and cashmere leggings (oh my gawd, they’re soft). Who knew these even existed in the world?
