Target’s On A Holiday Roll

Target’s taking front and center stage today.  It’s time to dress up that new Carlos Falchi for Target bag with a dress from the megachain’s just-unveiled holiday collection.  They’ve got an option for every sort of holiday dinner, party, or event you might have to attend, so get ready to get dressy on the cheap.

1. As we learned this morning, nothing says powerful quite like houndstooth.  Wear this sheath to the company party or to your new boyfriend’s house for dinner.

2. Make it a slightly sexier holiday with this pretty strapless number.  Luckily, paired with a cardigan, it’ll look perfectly appropriate at your family’s annual gathering.

3. Nothing says “notice me!” quite like feather trim.  Don this otherwise completely demure LBD in case you have to compete for attention every time holiday season rolls around.

Now that you’ve got all your inexpensive holiday dress needs in the bag, it’s time to gussy up the looks.  We’ve got party shoes, brooches, and evening bags to tie up any outfit.

Looks Like Carlos Falchi Is A Collaboration Slut

Luxury handbag and shoe designer, Carlos Falchi, is certainly getting around.

Just weeks after the debut of his fabulous Chi by Carlos Falchi collection for HSN, Target has released a line of low-priced satchels, hobos, and shoulder bags by the imaginative Italian.

Falchi may be promiscuous (on the collab front, that is) but he’s also one of many very smart designers who are finding ways to offer affordable luxury in the recession. Once you go faux, you may never go back. So try Falchi’s sexy fake-snakeskin hobo or his funky, gray collage crossbody bag, both available at Target.  Or simply pick out a designer handbag of your own and don’t forget to organize it stylishly.

Newsflash: Jean Paul Gaultier Will Be Bringing His Vision To Target

Rumors abounded and it turns out they were true: Jean Paul Gaultier will be the third person (following Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui) to take part in Target’s Designer Collaboration series.  The collection goes on sale March 7, so in the meantime, we’ll keep shopping Anna Sui’s Gossip Girl-themed Target line.

However, if JPG’s line for Target is anything like the recent looks (top) that he showed for his own upcoming collection this spring, we’re counting down the days.  I’ll just have to go khaki and stick with a Michael Michael Kors trench and a gathered pencil skirt, for now, and pair them off with a little visible hosiery.

Anna Sui For Target, And For Blair Waldorf Wannabes Everywhere

Gossip Girl-addicts rejoice! The latest designer to collaborate with Target, Anna Sui, has just launched her collection, available online now through Oct. 17.  It happens to be inspired by none other than Gossip girlies, Blair, Serena, Jenny, and Vanessa. Fashion icon Sui used the popular television series as muse when creating Target-ized looks that would allow every fan to have a piece of the glitzy fashion that the show is known for.

Perusing the new collection, we’re not quite sure why Sui felt the need to make all the Vanessa looks only brown and orange (does brown and orange automatically equal boho-chic?) or if the Serena we know would ever be caught dead wearing some of the things inspired by her. But in general, the collection seems to do the stylish show justice, and with very un-Upper East Side prices.  Check out our favorite Anna Sui for Target looks and don’t forget to see what the girls (and boys) of Gossip have been up to all summer on tonight’s season three premiere.

Sui’s take on Blair is right on the mark with this bow tie houndstooth dress ($69.99). Or, for something a little less prim and proper, try a sexy Jenny-styled lace frock ($69.99).

If you’re in the market for some Gossip separates, you might like this Serena-inspired fitted vest ($29.99) or an autumnal embellished top ($29.99) that Vanessa would approve of.

News: First Jimmy Choo For H And M Image Leaks, Target Recycles Billboards Into Tote Bags, And More

3. After Glamour received a very positive reader response from putting one nude plus-size model, Lizzie Miller, in their September issue, they’ve decided to include quite a few more in their November issue.  We’re glad to see magazines expanding their body-size range, although when they show only nudes, it doesn’t explain so much on dressing for your shape.
