The One Thing You Should Never Do When Washing Your Hands
February 23, 2016
I’m going to assume that you wash your hands several times per day; it’s one of our most practiced habits (I hope). Even so, there are plenty of mistakes we make that sabotage the cleanly experience.
Since we know that we won’t be able to reach the ideal hand washing temperature (it’s too hot for your skin!), it’s best to focus on doing a thorough job. You probably get it — soap, water, dry… pretty simple, but the key component here is time. It’s annoying to have to actually count the seconds you spend washing your hands, but your immune system will thank you! Plus, it’s only like 20 seconds (or two rounds of Happy Birthday). If you don’t, well, you probably aren’t doing much to kill the bathroom germs! It’s worth it, I promise.
Okay, so taking your time is the thing you should do; now, what’s the thing you shouldn’t? Well, it relates, going back to this notion of speed being ineffective… Don’t forget to dry your hands (completely)! Hand dryers can take forever to get the job done, but it’s sooo important that you stick it out. Wet hands are the #1 bacteria hot-spot. Your hands are like spring break in Cancun for bacteria. Don’t let them have their fun on your dime! Dry your hands COMPLETELY before you leave the bathroom.
