The SHEfinds Guide To Not-So-Scary Halloween Decor
September 10, 2014
Growing up, I was never a huge fan of Halloween. I never liked scary movies, ghosts or goblins, and even the Wicked Witch from the Wizard Of Oz gave me the creeps. While all of my friends would dress up as witches, werewolves and movie villains, I always went the pretty girly-girl route and opted for princess and ballerina costumes. The more glitter, the better. So you can imagine my mother’s frustrations when she (the Halloween lover in the family) wanted to adorn our house in faux yet realistic-looking spiders, grim reapers and skeletons and I just wasn’t having it.
Instead of choosing spooky decorations, she had to abandon the Halloween she knew and loved as a kid to accomodate for my scardey-cat style. She opted for raffia pumpkins, wreaths, candy and you guessed it, a whole lot of glitter. The less-scary decorations actually tend to be a little bit nicer, so it was a true win-win for everyone in the family.
To this day, my parents’ home (and now my own) is still spook-free during the month of October. But just because Halloween isn’t my holdiat, doesn’t mean that I don’t love decorating. So, I thought that I would share the home goods that are on my radar for the upcoming holiday. They’re all under $50, so be sure to take peek.
