Top Five Spring Sneakers -- Add Your Pick
April 9, 2007
I’m a big fan of comfort — who isn’t? But I am also so over the corporate-commuter look of scrunched-down socks and stark white tennies. Cute, feminine athletic shoes are long overdue, so the deluge of adorable, comfortable styles is no surprise to me. The best part? You don’t have to be super-athletic to rock the latest spring sneakers — heck, you don’t even need a gym membership. Here are my fave four. Add your pick for a fifth in the comments section below.
1. When you want to ditch the heels: Privo Hop ballet-style flats ($50) may just be the chicest sneaker on the market. Luxe color combos like white and cherry, and army green and red make them look rich enough to pair with slacks or capris, and wear in lieu of uncomfortable pumps.
2. When you’re feeling pretty in pink: PUMA’s shiny rose Barbarella sneakers ($74) are a dream come true for every girly girl with a secret tomboyish streak. They’re strappy like your summer sandals, but sporty at the same time.
3. When you want to bring out the kid in you: These Keds Eleanor Skimmers ($40) are a fun and funky way to indulge your inner preteen. Whimsical owl and panda tessellations embrace spring’s nature-inspired trends, and bright blue and green hues add pop to your warm-weather wardrobe.
4. When you’re up for anything: Maybe you’ll have post-work drinks at that cute café, or maybe you’ll get roped into a pickup game of hoops in the park. Either way, Asics Mexico Tigress sneakers ($65) have you covered. I wouldn’t recommend tackling a marathon in them, but they’ll get you through whatever the end of the workday might throw at you.
