Tracy Reese Confirms: Michelle Obama's DNC Dress Will Be Sold In Stores!
September 7, 2012
Michelle Obama sent us into a tizzy Tuesday night when she made an appearance at the Democratic National Convention with her ahh-mazing blueish-gray nails, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped dreaming about her dip-dyed rose-and-gold brocade custom Tracy Reese dress. Apparently, Reese felt the wave of excitement over it–the venerable designer has confirmed it will be in stores. Even better? It’ll retail for less than $500 — a stark contrast with the $1,990 Oscar de la Renta number that Ann Romney wore the Republican National Convention just days earlier. (Just sayin’.)
Tracy Reese confirmed on the Today show this morning that she’s trying to get the dress in stores as quickly as she can: “It was something that we are planning for later–we are trying to rush it through the cycle so more people can get their hands on it sooner.”
Isn’t she the best? The reason for the delay is that Reese, who’s been a First Lady favorite, didn’t know if Michelle Obama would wear her dress until the last minute, as other labels provided options as well. If I had to guess, I’d bet it was the racerback style that won over Mrs. Obama, who arguably has the best arms and shoulders in all of America. Though there’s no release date confirmed, we’ll keep you posted as soon as the famed dress hits stores!
