At 22 years old, I’ve had a total of seven internships. The first few were not necessarily related to what I was interested in doing for a living, but they were great experiences none the less. Plus, each internship opens doors that will eventually lead you to where you want to be. The more you intern, the more you learn–no matter where you work or how much you do.
Even though no two internships are the same, there are some cardinal rules that come with the intern title. We’re not talking basic office etiquette and interpersonal skills. That’s all a given. Having gone through different experiences and being on the other side now, there’s an internship formula that myself, friends and co-workers all picked up on. But not everyone gets it. So for all you college kids looking for some work this summer, here are the do’s and don’ts for how to kill it at your internship.
