It’s no surprise cocoon coats are called just that. They seriously look like a cocoon we’d want to wear (or live in). Don’t get freaked out by the whole caterpillar butterfly thing. Think of this cocoon more like a cozy covering to protect yourself from the brutal winter weather. The roomy jackets were seen on the runways of Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler back in February, and now we can finally get our hands on one.
We’re super into the cocoon coat for a couple of reasons. First, it’s oversized but has a distinct shape with rounded shoulders and wide sides. This makes it perfect for layering since there’s extra space for clothes under your coat. Second, the cocoon coat is actually a retro style that’s known for its minimalism. But the 2013 update includes versions in bright colors and statement-making prints. Finally, even though most winter coats don’t flatter your figure, the cocoon is way more stylish then a puffer coat. At least with this you’re trying to look good while staying warm.
