The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Last night, I shopped the Zac Posen for Target collection at the NYC party, in a wildly decorated, masquerade-themed room filled with people–even Zac Posen’s favorite celebs, Claire Danes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Selma Blair showed up. Mayhem ensued, with huge crowds everywhere, but I kept my eye on the prize.

There were some seriously cool pieces, plus items that I didn’t particularly need (ahem – full-length gown) but the price and fit were so right, it couldn’t be wrong. And alas, there were disappointments, too (see below). Here’s your guide to Zac Posen for Target to give you a leg-up on the shopping, whether you visit the pop-up shop in New York today, or online next week:

1. The sizes run a full size small. Order one size up, or if you’re shopping in person, skip the dressing room lines. If you’re a small, count on getting the medium. etc. Because the fabrics are not forgiving (remember, it’s Target), the smalls, which I usually fit into, are a little too tight or too short for comfort, but the larges lost their shape on me.

2. The pieces are even better in person. What they lack in exact sizing and material quality, they make up for in design. The pink safety pin pattern dress (above, and seen on Claire Danes at the party) is far and beyond anything you’ve seen at Target. The surprise best-seller of the night was this floor-length printed dress ($69.99). It’s incredibly flattering – perfect for any dressy weddings you have this summer.

3. The bright pieces are the highlight of the collection – particularly the reds and pinks. This red leather jacket was the second best-seller last night (according to the Target employees at the registers) – it’s under $200 and a great fit. The one-piece swimsuits, including this incredibly flattering red number, will fly off the shelves, too.

4. There are some misses. The Sailor Dress in Tiger Print – the piece I’d been eyeing since the Look Book hit the internet – was a huge disappointment. It was ill-fitting and the sizes were off. If you’re petite and love color – go for it. Otherwise stick to the other sleeper hits of the collection.
