The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

As a contact lens wearer since the 8th grade, I’ve learned the dos and don’ts of contact lens care. Wearing contacts is a pretty big responsibility because if you don’t take care of them the proper way it can cause a lot of issues with your eyes. Let’s all remember the girl who fell asleep with her contacts in and wound up with a parasite in her eye. Needless to say, you don’t have to only take care of the actual lenses, but the contact case as well.

If you don’t wear dailies then chances are you have a contact case. It’s extremely important to clean your contact case every single day. To clean your lens case, simply pour out the used solution and rinse it with fresh solution. Don’t reuse solution because it’s filled with bacteria and that’s just gross. Also, make sure your contacts (and case!) steer clear of tap water because it can be harmful and cause infection. Wipe the case dry with a clean towel or let it air dry completely before putting the lids back on.

You should replace your contact case every three months. You can also disinfect your case by boiling it in hot water for five minutes. Remember to follow this rule and don’t use the same case for months and months at a time. You aren’t doing yourself any favors.

If you’re lazy and don’t like cleaning your case and lenses every day, make the switch to dailies and you won’t even need a case since they get thrown out at the end of the day. I personally made the switch to dailies about a year ago and it was one of the best decisions ever.
