The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Losing jewelry is maybe one of the greatest tragedies known to womankind. I’m kidding, obviously, but oh boy does it suck. And not just real jewelry–the costume stuff, too. If you have a favorite pair dangly or stud earrings, and you get home at the end of the day and realize you’re only rocking one of them–it’s like *the worst feeling in the world*. You want to turn back time or get some sort of sci-fi machine that can show you at exactly what point in your day, in what location you lost that sucker.

I don’t have a crystal ball for you, but I do have a really simple hack for finding earring backs or other teeny tiny items (pills, buttons, etc.) when you realize that you’ve dropped it.

This tip comes courtesy of PureWow (shout out!):

Well, first of all, check your clothing if you didn’t hear the sound of the item hitting the ground. Without moving around too much (be still, grasshopper), check your bra, your shirt, your belly button, your waistband, your pockets… etc.

If it’s not there, and you’re pretty sure it made it all the way to the floor–all you need is a flashlight (or your iPhone since they all come equipped with one now). This is the best way to find an earring back or pill or whatever when it’s dropped on the floor.

Turn the lights off in the room and use the flashlight to illuminate the floor area. This is better than trying to look in the daylight–the flashlight will catch small objects in the dark, making them appear more obviously to you.

Okay, good luck!
