3 Back to School Must-Haves from Mabel's Labels' Julie Cole
September 9, 2011
Julie Cole knows a thing or two about back to school season. Actually, she knows six…as in she has six children all under the age of 11. And as if that’s not enough to make her an expert, the “mom of many” is also the co-founder of Mabel’s Labels, makers of genius stick-on-anything labels which made it on our Top 5 Back to School Supplies List for Parents.
So to help you start the school year on the right foot, we asked her to share some of her favorite back to school items. Check out what made it on her list after the jump.
I use the Ready, Set, Go Board with my kids. This allows them to manage their morning routines without my nagging about whether they packed their gym shoes or made their beds. The picture icons are perfect for pre-readers and you will love watching your children get ready for school independently.
Most schools now require children to bring in litterless lunches. My children go off to school with the Laptop Lunch System. Lunches always stay fresh, and I’m sending in healthier food – no more pre-packaged salty or sugary snacks. Packing up lunches the night before and popping them into the fridge makes for more organized and less chaotic mornings!
Being the co-founder of Mabel’s Labels is probably a good indicator that I like kids’ belongings to be organized. Parents love saving time by not having to search out a missing running shoe, pair of mittens or water bottle. If these items manage to find their way to a lost and found bin, they inevitably get found and put in the appropriate backpack or cubbie. Parents save money by not having to replace lost items and it’s never too early to start teaching children stewardship over their belongings!
