Most children love tree houses–and after seeing The Swiss Family Robinson, they want to live in one of their own. But if you live in an urban area (or even if you don’t), real tree houses are a luxury reserved for those with a lot of space and often a lot of extra cash. Seems toy makers realize this, too, because there are several adorable “indoor” tree houses out there–and they make a great alternative to a dollhouse for children.
They may not do much for your kids’ climbing muscles, but they definitely exercise the imagination! Try some of these for indoor tree house fun:
1. This tree house ($70) from Plan Toys is like everything this quality toy company creates: it’s classically fashioned and beautifully made. It comes with furniture, a rope ladder, a bucket, and two figures.
2. Have a little more space? Try this generously-sized multi-level tree house ($85) from Melissa and Doug. It comes complete with trap doors, ropes and pulleys, and bridges, it’s a good thing more than one child can play since they’ll all want to!
3. In the market for a little budget-friendly option? This “basic” tree house ($40) from Maxim Toys has three levels, figures, ladders, and the bucket, but if for some reason that’s not enough, they sell accessories kits to expand it.
