A new season means it’s time for a closet clean out. Not only does this make your wardrobe feel refreshed, but selling old items can help justify new purchases. Why not sell an old handbag and put the money toward a pair of trend new shoes for fall? Most of us are hanging on to a ton of clothing and accessories we no longer wear. It’s time to take a good, hard look at your closet and decided which items have reached their shelf life. Although you might be over these items, some things can still have a high resell value. Check out the list below to find out which items you can make the most money reselling from your closet.

Designer handbags: You can net a lot of cash by reselling your old designer handbags. Of course, a luxury bags from Chanel and Louis Vuitton have a very high resell value. However, bags from brands like Micheal Kors, Kate Spade, and Rebecca Minkoff sell well, too. As long as the bag is in good condition, you can score some serious cash for it. In order to get the most bang for your buck, make sure you take clear photos of the item if you are selling it online. A good picture will attract a buyer’s eye. Poshmark is a great app for reselling handbags. Don’t like doing the work? Try a consignment website like The RealReal.

Anything with tags: Items that still have the tags on them are more likely to sell. People specifically search for NWT items (this stands for “New With Tags”). If something has been hanging in your closet with the tags for months, chances are you’re never going to wear it. Your best bet is to take it to a consignment shop, clothing trade-in store (like Buffalo Exchange), or sell it online. These items don’t have to be designer. High-low shopping is very popular in the resale marketplace. Items from Zara and even stores like Topshop and Brandy Melville tend to sell.

Sportswear: There’s a huge community of people obsessed with high end workout gear. They are even willing to buy it used! People are especially eager to get their hands on Lululemon items, specially limited edition styles and colors. If you have any Lululemon gear in your closet you don’t wear, try selling it online. There are tons of a Lululemon facebook communities that allow you to sell or swap workout gear. These items also sell fast on apps like Poshmark.
