When it comes to fashion, we love new blood. Emerging designers are exciting and cause shake-ups in the otherwise established industry. With the New Year comes new excitement over these fresh faces in the biz. Behold, a few names to learn — and fast:
Design duo Flora Gill and Alexa Adams are Parsons alums and CFDA 2009 finalists. Known for the architectural dresses and tops, and soft draping, the ladies are two to watch in 2011. Grab one of these OHNE TITEL 3/4 length dress ($225, down from $335).
Another CFDA finalist and Parsons grad, Christian Cota has already made quite a name for himself, dressing Gossip Girls Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, as well as Elizabeth Banks and more. For the celebrity-approved look, try this L/S Drop Waist V-Neck Dress ($1,250).
You may have already noticed that we were obsessed with Loeffler Randall for Suno (it even made our top 10 collaborations of 2010), but if you don’t already know about the latter, here’s a brief summary: Max Osterweis is the brains behind Suno, who found inspiration in his many trips to Kenya, which is evident in the bold patterns and colors of the line. This Suno Silk Flounce Skirt ($460) is a bit more muted, and perfect for everyday wear.
Charlotte has a serious celebrity following: everyone from Beyonce to Katy Perry, and fellow Brits Emma Watson and Daphne Guiness love her signature pumps. Grab yourself a pair (especially if you have a shoe fetish) – these Charlotte Olympia Velvet platform shoe ($1116) are like shoe porn.
