4 Simple Lipstick Tricks To Fake Fuller Lips
May 17, 2016
If you’ve always longed for Angelina Jolie-like full lips, but can’t quite wrap your mind around injections, makeup is the perfect middle ground. Simply choosing the right products and applying them in exactly the right way can make that pout you’ve always dreamed of a reality. Below, pro makeup artist and beauty expert Jennifer Trotter of Lip Service Makeup reveals how to fake fuller lips using only cosmetics.
Pick The Right Color. Peachy pinks, soft pinks, medium berries mimic natural lip shades, which helps lips appear fuller. Flattering nudes are also a great option, Trotter says.
Say “No” To Shimmer And Matte. “Choose creamy and glossy formulas because they create the illusion of fuller lips,” Trotter says. “Glosses can help fake volume.”
Formulas to avoid? Skip shimmer and sparkle because they can have an aging effect. Matte and liquid lipsticks also aren’t very flattering on thin lips. “The flatness of matte formulas doesn’t create any dimension and can also make you look older,” Trotter says.
Learn How To Apply Lip Liner. “Liner is a good choice for women with thin lips,” Trotter says. “Choose liner in tones similar to your lipstick or lip gloss shade. You can go slightly outside the lines to create a slightly larger shape, but the key is slightly. Don’t overdo it. Instead of looking full, it’ll look sloppy.”
Use Highlighter. “Use a soft, champagne-toned highlighter dusted lightly on your cupid’s bow and a little bit under the fullest part of your bottom lip,” Trotter says. “Blend edges well for a soft and flattering look.”
