5 Denim Trends You Hate Now But Will Be Wearing In A Month
March 4, 2015
There’s more to spring denim looks than just your go-to pair of cut-offs. This year, designers gave America’s favorite fabric a few surprising new looks, from a throwback silhouette to a cooler version of distressed denim.
Button-down skirts: Take a style tip from Alexa Chung‘s latest collaboration with AG Jeans and sport a jean skirt with buttons on the front, which was also spotted at Chloe‘s Spring 2015 runway show.
Patchwork: Tommy Hilfiger ditched the preppy sport look for something more rock ‘n’ roll, including patchwork denim pieces fit for your summer music festival.
Tops and blouses: Think your staple chambray shirt will do the trick this spring? Think again. Denim blouses go beyond the button-down and come in all sorts of styles: crop tops, T-shirts, and even Fendi‘s Spring 2015 collection’s jean version of a polo.
Frayed edges: Ever since rising fashion brand Marques’ Almeida collaborated with Topshop last fall, their signature frayed hems have given the idea of “distressed denim” a new, polished update. This spring, designers took note, shredding the ends of everything from tops to dresses to skirts.
Flares: And now for the trend we’ve all been waiting for… yes, they’re back. The flared jeans that took over your ’90s wardrobe are suddenly on-trend yet again thanks to designers like Gucci, Karen Walker, Just Cavalli, and Rebecca Taylor. You wish you never brought your old flared pairs to Buffalo Exchange now, right?
