You’ve heard it before, but I’ll tell you again: It’s a new year! Let’s begin this fresh start off on the right foot. (Yes, there is still time!) Begin by cutting out some of the unhealthy habits that you’ve indulged in throughout the holiday season because most of us have been frequenting friend and family gatherings, eating all of that decadent food, drinking rich beverages, and ducking out on that weekly gym routine. Here are five easy ways to detox for the New Year.
)Give up the alcohol. Let that midnight toast you made on New Year’s Eve be the last that you have for awhile. Think about not drinking alcohol for awhile. You can do a simple 30 day challenge to cut out the alcohol. See if you feel different or have a bit more energy. If anything, you’ll let go of a few extra calories.
)Go on a water cleanse. How many sugary or caffeinated drinks do you consume in a single week? Try actually getting in the recommended eight cups of water that you need instead of reaching for that cup of coffee or Pepsi. And if you’re not willing to go cold turkey, replace one drink with a cup of water and go from there.
)Say goodbye to sugar. Do you have a large sweet tooth? (I do, too!) As much as you’ll hate to give up that treats, let some of the sugar go! Have it in moderation, or replace your faves with one that’s better for you like dark chocolate.
)Cut out the carbs. Carbohydrates are another food that tastes so good but should be had in moderation. Think about switching out that bread with a healthier option or replace that roll with a helping of fruits or veggies.
)Lay off the heavy makeup. You may not have thought of this one, but makeup is a vice that many of us enjoy. Though putting on a full face every single day can be time consuming and harsher on your skin in the winter time. So why not try to lessen the amount that you work with in the morning.
